  1. I knicked this idea from a thread on the Christopher Brookmyre forum. 3 words only per reply and let's see if we can make this as coherent/abstract/absurdist as possible. You never know we could try and get this published and all proceeds go to charity:up:

    Archie Duguid never

Palazzo Vecchio describe Aguilera as "challenging."

So you're taking a page out of Shellac's book and releasing the vinyl first a few weeks before the CD?

This better come in a gatefold sleeve and have some awe inspiring artwork

  4. I celebrated en early Xmas with my folks at the weekend as I was working Xmas Eve and couldn't be arsed travelling on busted suspension Stagecoach bus all the way from Westhill to Ellon.

    Special Bonus Track: Addendum circle

I'm quite happy with that, actually!

I take it track 11 is a Mogwai-esque instrumental epic?

  7. The Grandmothers of Invention-Zappa's old band playing the 60's material the year after his death. Absolutely mind-blowing for a 16 year-old Zappa freak as I was at the time.

I quite enjoyed that performance too. What made it more memorable was the fire alarm going off and everyone being evacuated. Then later on in their set they incorporated "Is that your idea of a fire-drill?" in to one of their songs.

My personal faves in no chronological order:

Mogwai - Like Herod, Fear Satan and Christmas Steps being blasted out full tilt as Start Braithwaite et al were pissed off with some of the crowd yakking over their quiter spells.

Fugazi - the migraine I was suffering from that day wasn't enough to deter me missing out on them.

    Annie Christian - immense.

Bill Hicks (Slight Return) - Jesus! Just like the real thing. Best comedy routine I've ever seen.

DJ-ing many a Fudge Night. Cheers guys.

    Ah! The memories.

  8. A sad announcement indeed but not a great shock to the system either, given the cash it was haemorrhaging. A shame for all the staff employed there goes without saying.

I'm getting nostalgic about all the gigs and stand-up comedy I've seen there over the years.

Mogwai and Fugazi stand out as the most memorable.

    *sigh*

  9. Mozza's flag waving was badly timed infront of skinheads giving Nazi salutes. A bit of a faux pas really...

But that was a moment steeped in irony as he had just finished performinmg National Front Disco which the skinheads thought was in favour of them, failing to hear/contemplate/understand the sarcasm embellished in the lyrics.
