  1. I had plotted to get them with a water pistol i found lying about in their flat..

they called me when they'd gone into one of the bedrooms..i heard the shower..but the bathroom door was open' date=' so i said "eugh, you minks, please tell me one of you isn't showering whilst the other watches"..

"alex, you're sick, of course not"... so i skip on through ready to take revenge..

and was instead blinding by the two naked guys showering together..."what? we're comfortable with our sexuality and were arguing about who'd shower first"

..so i just backed away..i'm still to get revenge, now i need double revenge -seeing them both naked, especially together, wasn't high on my list of priorities.. :nono:

the thing that amuses me, is when i'm drunk and bring this up to one of them in front of others..they don't even deny it, they just smile, like it's totally normal..personally, i've never met two other guys that would shower together in front of me..but hey..[/quote']

That's just WEIRD. Whether you're comfortable with your sexuality or not! :p

Much like Thurisaz's incessant nakedness at Filthpact and Certain Death gigs. Not something I need to be seeeing un-necessarily! :nono:

  2. hah. that's ridiculous' date=' DUCK before you walk through the door fool.

    I stand by what i said.[/quote']

Yeah, that works when I actually remember that particular doorway is a lot smaller than the rest in my house. But I never saw anyone small having that problem!! :p

  3. in all honesty' date=' i think that's bullshit...i HATE being small. i'd give anything to be tall.[/quote']

The next time I practically knock myself out cold on the doorframe coming out my study at home, I'm gonna remind you you said this.

  4. The crux of the matter is' date=' you cant expect people to attend gigs featuring bands they dont like just to support a venue or a scene.[/quote']

But you can expect people like the Dr Drakes crew to organise, promote and hold a gig featuring bands they don't really like that much? Seems like a pretty one-way attitude to me. Maybe they should give up on trying to give the city something different then and go work for DF Concerts or ClearChannel? What's the point, if people aren't going to support their efforts?

PS : That's rich coming from Mark Hamill's face double :p

  5. Shall we be seeing Mr Karloff at any of these events?

Actually, yes. I've been to Jungle Nation gigs before certainly. I have every intention of going to see Piney Gir at SNAFU, despite the extreme electronica thing not being my exact cup of tea. I was also looking forward to the prospect of seeing Kasule at the Castlegate event, until I discovered it was the same time as one of our own gigs outwith the city.

Were you trying to make a point, maybe? I've even been along to view various bands you've been a part of over the years... And your musical style is hardly me now, is it...?

  6. I'd bet that you're actually twice his size as well.

    Where's me anti-bullying wrist band?

    Probably!

I showed my mate Stan that joke "Metallica Vs Napster" cartoon RainbowPrincess posted some time ago, and when the big James Hetfield came on and went "Beer! GOOOD!" he said "Fuck me, it's you!".

  7. yeh' date=' i tried quizzing the reception man dude thing, but all i got was "some tall bloke"

i asked all the obvious questions..

    hair colour?

    old?

    young?

    delivery dude?

    ugly?

hawt? please tell me he was hawt!

and he just looked blankely at me thinking what a silly girl i am and said "some tall bloke"

    bastard[/quote']

Maybe he was paid for his silence. It wasn't Zorro, was it?

  8. you can have all of mine' date=' i can't even look at the stuff these days without feeling sick :([/quote']

    Bonzer.

Can I have some witnesses to this please? Expect to see me towering over you in the Bassment/Moshulu/Moorings/etc sometime soon to take delivery. Whether you have any or not... hehehehe (I love strong-arm tactics) :bat:

  9. Unlikely.

If people actually cared, then Dr Drakes would have had no need for closure.

The "scene" basically started from punk/diy/rnr gigs at the old Drakes, and has somehow become this big thing that everyone with an opinion on music wants to be seen to be a part of. It's got to be a kind of cool-by-association thing, which is tragic. It used to be that people went to Drakes gigs because there was no alternative to it. You could be a rocker and be happily seen drinking and having a good time at a ska gig. These days people will either stay home, or trot along to whatever gig they think most people will be at so they can hang out and be "cool", and so all the other folks will see them there and think they're cool and part of local music.

I think back to the many individuals who chipped in their free time and skills to create Dr Drakes from a run-down, skanky ex gay bar.... I can't think of any other people locally who are willing to dedicate their free time and effort like that. Most other people are happy to just be on the receiving end and not put much more than their own appearence at some gigs back into the "scene".

Maybe the whole thing has to implode before it can re-invent itself again.

  10. It's about attitude.

    Exactamundo.

I said it was easier if you have something different to offer, but that's still not all that easy at all! The bottom line is, as always, if you want to get out there and make something of your band, you have to make some sacrifices. And usually that at least means a lot of time and effort, and often some hard-earned money too. If you aren't willing to, then your band will likely never get far from the city limits and playing the same old crowd.

  11. Basically Aberdeen is a small fishing villiage that got lucky. In theory if you want to see diverse out kind of obscure stuff move to Glasgow.

Else just live in hope that one day someone will take a risk on something that isn`t the norm.

I think what most people don't realise is that their favourite big venue who puts on all their favourite big bands tends to be heavily subsidised by breweries. They don't mind making a big loss on their overall figures, because they can usually rake it all back and then some through alcohol sales on the night. Sadly, independant venues have no such backing...

  12. But as far as I understand it' date=' and correct me if I'm wrong, they toured on a very much DIY/punk/hxc circuit which isn't really 'open doors' for the rest of us.[/quote']

I don't think this is the case, actually. Dave Rowlands works very hard behind the scenes in terms of getting gig slots and recording space for his band. I think he likely put supreme efforts into organising their participation in the gigs abroad they did, making it work and do-able, and I don't think a "circuit" like you imagine exists. It's certainly not a case of get on the bus at point A and depart 15 gigs later at point B with no problems! This is not to get at your point either, Bob. It's logical enough to assume there would be some touring circuit within the punk/crust community, but I don't think there is really. I think a few of the shows were in squats and of the DIY variety, but I think that says more about the un-willingness of other musical style followers to go to the same lengths to put bands on than it does about the merits of a band like Filthpact playing around Europe. I think people have similar mis-conceptions about how/why we did our tour in the big old tourbus. I suspect most people go "Ash Karloff's brother played in the touring band, so that's why Karloff went on the tour". The fact is, the family association combined with the reputation we have in the London psychobilly/punk scene from a gig we did down there a couple of years ago got us the invite for the tour. But it was a shitload of work by Ash, me and Captain Tom at Fat Hippy that enabled us to make it work and do it. As little as when we were outside Newcastle on the way to meet the tourbus it almost all fell through! But we made it happen, just like the Filthpact boys did and just like any other band with something good to offer can also.

  13. I've seen that tcake guy with his girlfriend in Moshulu once or twice. How come in his photies he looks like quite a sizeable chap, yet when I laid eyes on him he's actually the size of a 14-year old? And they say the camera never lies... Pah!

  14. I don't think you can rule out Manson's work as an influence on what happened, but the root cause is that Mitchell had that mindset to begin with. There are many rogue influences on people in life, which may or may not cause them to do something bad. But we can't and don't go around banning them on the offchance.
