I wasn't arguing. I was trying to make a point, and that point being that "tarring with the same brush" is a very blinkered way to do things. I look at people based on their attitude and actions, not on what their perceived social group generally does. Ergo, if someone in Burberry is civil and good-natured to me, then I'll quite happily engage them. Conversely, if someone attempts to fuck me around, burberry *or* flamed cap, they'll receive a sharpened response. At the end of the day it's your deal, and if you want a dress-code and only a certain clientele, you'll have it.
Also, I never stated you were a racist, nor did I imply it. I made the assertion that racism was discrimination based on a kind of appearence, and suggested that the basic premise of discrimination should be un-justifiable. A world where you are taken on your individual character, actions and abilities, rather than outward appearence, would be much better place to travel life in....
-
Bullshit bullshit bullshit.
I defy anyone to stand and tell me that the clothes you wear or your general chosen appearence defines your likely behaviour.
What happened to giving people the benifit of the doubt, and taking action if it becomes necessary...?
Personally, I've had more trouble from the macho, white vest, meathead brigade at Caged than I have from anyone who "looks" to be a ned.
Common sense on the door and keen bouncing should be all that's required, not some restrictive and cliquey judgemental door policy. Should the likes of Yates or Revolution stop me on the door because I look like a "rocker" who will probably get sauced up on Jack, grope the women, and start fights with the guys....?! It's bad enough having to resist stereotyping in the workplace, let alone on a night out when you're supposed to be relaxing and enjoying yourself.
Taking judgements based on appearence is exactly what racists do. Now tell me how you justify doing this in ANY shape or form?

FRIDAY 19TH SEPT....8PM....3
MOUNTAIN MEN ANONYMOUS & YESSA DE PASO
Highly recommended for fans of Mogwai, Godspeed, Windy & Carle..!!
Formed in 1999, MMA moved to Cardiff and gigs soon graduated from local
events to gigs with the likes of Les Savy Fav, Enon, Billy Mahonie, The
Fall, Seafood, Llama Farmers, Mclusky, San Lorenzo, The Warm Jets, Zan
Lyone, Delicate AWOL, Magoo and Teflon Monkey.
Here's some reviews of their debut album..
'its pretty astonishing stuff; the complex, lyered, eerie machinations of
Sigur Ros performed with the sentiment and volume of Trail of Dead's
'Perfect Teenhood'..Drowned in Sound
'it sounds like Skullflower, it sounds like Bardo Pond. This Cardiff-based
instrumental guitar band has got the Twisted Village Sound down pat: vaguely
lo-fi drone rock with the effects pedals turned up to 'DISTORT LOUDLY'. This
is a MEGA debut, like Mogwai could be if they weren't such shy nonces: Sonic
Youth completely divested of all things Zorn'.Gideon Dwight, Careless Talk
Costs Lives magazine.
Listen to the Mountain Men Anonymous brilliant live session on Radio 1 Wales
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/alt/wales/in_session/020627mountain_men.shtml
and check out their website at www.mountainmenanonymous.freeserve.co.uk
YESSA DE PASO hail from Carnoustie, just beside Dundee. They are a
quietcore band and have drawn comparisons to bands such as Duster, Smog and
Hood. Yessa formed in Oct 2000 and their first gig was at an event in Dundee
called the 'unscene' festival. Since then they have gone on to play with
Stupid Acting Smart, The Zephyrs and Sputniks Down amongst countless others.
Local support on the night from an offshoot of experimental post rockers
Clive Ravensby under the name of THE BRONSON RESURRECTION SOCIETY and
acoustic loveliness from A GOLF TRUXESS. Also, whipping up a storm on the
decks will be DJ AL MASAMUNE.

MOTORMARK & ELIZIUM DJ'S
Electro-punk popsters Motormark jet back into the Doc's on Saturday! They
recently supported Ladytron at the Lemon Tree (and arguably blew them off
stage too), are lined up to support electroclash sleaze goddess Peaches this
weekend in Nottingham and provided the DHR madness at the Elvisness night
not long gone at The Lemon Tree. Their recently released album on Popchild
sold out it's first press on pre-order alone, so catch them in the intimate
surroundings of Drakes while you can. Truely unique, one not to be missed!
followed by Elizium dj's till 3am www.motormark.net

THE APERS, THE RITALINS & THE DANGERFIELDS
Punkrock'n'roll from Rotterdam. The Apers started back in 1996 as a 3 piece
in the suburbs of Rotterdam, The Netherlands. They love the sound of the
Ramones, Queers, Undertones, Beach Boys, Buddy Holly and Screeching Weasel.
The bands has done more than 400 shows, rocking countries like The
Netherlands, USA, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia, Italy, France,
Germany, Spain and the UK, playing with bands such as the Queers, Groovie
Ghoulies, Sonic Dolls, Teen Idols, Travoltas, Hi-Fives, Hives and more.....
After a load of releases like singles, split singles and EP's they finally
released their self-titled debut record (CD & LP) in 2001 on Stardumb
Records, Europe's #1 punkrock label. The record has been well received by
punkrockers all over the world and has got great reviews in magazines like
OOR, Plastic Bomb, MRR, OX and Aardschok. In Feb 2003 they released their
2nd full-length, 'The Buzz Electric', on Stardumb Records again. To support
the record the band has toured the USA for 6 weeks, playing with friends and
label buddies the Groovie Ghoulies. Back in Europe now the band is already
booked until December 2003 playing shows across the continent, and so its
your chance to catch them here at Dr Drakes this sunday...!www.the-apers.com
