  1. That is a really slick site!

Just listened to "I killed Rock and Roll...", very impressed actually. I had a brief skip through the EP in One-Up when it came out, but that's the first time I've listened to a whole tune. Not my kinda thing per-se, but I can appreciate the talent and musicallity, and there are some great riffs in there.

  2. see what i mean?!?

    cunt.

anyway' date=' i've had a couple of ideas. maybe plastic trouts, i thought, or banannas possibly. both easy to write on with a black marker, see?[/quote']

Yes, I'm a cunt. Why aren't you working????

Why not just give the black markers away as prizes? You cheapskate.

  3. all innocent questions. nothing about the fudge awards here. move along please...

your thoughts on the following' date=' if you can be bothered.

    1. who's the best ABERDEEN-BASED band you've seen or heard on cd which formed WITHIN the past year?

    [b']Vomitus

    2. which performance at a fudge gig (in either drakes or moshulu, or for that matter the last couple of fudgenights at the lemon tree) really stands out for you? which band really pulled it off that night?

If I say DLMFS, would that curry your favour??

    3. which two bands are inferior? Maple, Red Man Walking, Masamune, Turning 13?

    Maple, RMW

    4. which ABERDEEN BASED acts really play METAL best, other than the Atom and Risactonia?

    Loaded

    5. who's best out of this lot? bonesaw, hearsecrash, element 106, vomitus, spike pile driver

    Bonesaw, by a country mile

    6. are the needles "from aberdeen" any more, do you think? or are they "glasgow based"?

    Both, dumbass

    7. which two bands are altogether better than the others? politik, masamune, kitchen cynics, bench, strobing goat

    Strobing Goat, Masamune

    8. which band do you like better, succioperro, cayto, the needles, mercury tilt switch, or allergo? hmm?

    Allergo

    9. almost done. best venue - the moorings or drummonds?

The Moorings. No neds, for one. Aberdeen's 2nd best alt bar.

thanks for your time, chums of fudge. xxx

    Get back to work, Fudge!

  4. I think that the time of "political activists" would be much better spent in actually directly helping people. Maybe working with the elderly or for societies such as Aberdeen Forum?? Last time I looked, participating in debates/discussions/meetings or marching down Union Street with a banner did little to help the common man.

  5. I'd consider it. Did a good bit of the wiring work in Dr Drakes, so I know what I'm doing.

But basically, red or brown wire goes to the L (Live) terminal, black or blue wire goes to the N (Neutral) terminal, and the bare metal or green and yella covered wire goes to the Earth terminal (usually attached to the metal body of the appliance if it's made of metal). If the Earth wire from the cable is unsheathed, then you need to either wrap it with good insulating tape where it's exposed (don't wrap the end that goes into the terminal though!!), or preferably use some green/yella coloured earth sheath to cover it like a sparky would.

    Simple!

  6. I'm sorry, but I'm firmly with Ian on this one. If you believe that the average joe's opinion and political belief amounts to less than that of a "politically active" person, then you're an eedjit. That basically means that only the relatively small percentage of the UK and world population who go along to all the nice little marches and debates have an opinion that holds weight. And that would seem to be flying in the face of democracy, somewhat. If you have the right to vote, you have an equal importance of opinion as anyone else does. Simple as that! Personally, I feel the world would be more noticably changed for the better if all those "political activists" used their time to actually *help* people... What gets more "done" : Marching against the "nazis", or devoting your time to help the elderly who fought them?

  7. *

The only difference between kW and kVA is the power factor. Once again' date=' the power factor, unless known, is an approximation. For purposes of our calculations, we use a power factor of .85. The kVA value is always higher than the value for kW.

kW to kVA kW / .85 = SAME VALUE EXPRESSED IN kVA

kVA TO kW kVA * .85 = SAME VALUE EXPRESSED IN kW

    Therefore 4501 x .85 assuming power factoer of 0.85

    =

    3825.85 KW[/quote']

    Using http://www.macgen.com/calcul.html#kvatokw I get 3600.8KW.

But, they are talking about *peak* power consumption, not average. If you think that a small oil-filled radiator is about 3KW rated, then it puts it into perspective. You're talking about your entire nightclub : Heating/cooling systems, lighting rigs, PA, all the regular lights, fridges, coolers, pumps, etc. What about the Bassment kitchens? Gas powered?

  8. i have quite a few of the third release left' date=' the others are all gone.number four and five are on the way, maybe a fortnight.they are extremely grim.i'll put aside for you if you want rob.[/quote']

Sounds good. When/where is a good time to pick up the merchandise and hand over the ca$h? Bedankt.

  9. Great wee place.

Don't know why people reckon it's bigger than Drakes, cuz I don't think it is. If anything, I'd say in terms of Fire Regulation numbers that Drakes would have the edge on capacity.

Decent Peavey PA and a helpful chap to do the sound, everything mic'd up and all that. It's not huge, so even with a modest crowd it feels busy. I think we've played three or four times there.

  10. It's an online review by a person who is obviously a great MMW fan. That's all there is to say about it. People are critiquing it like it's a four page review in Kerrang by the goddam editor. The point of these things is to get people to notice your band, and maybe, juuuust maybe, check out your website and tunes. That's it. All the petty pissy crap about dates being wrong... Well, if I could give Karloff greater credibility/exposure/whatever by lying about a fuckin date, i'd do it. Really folks, what does it matter? To be brutally honest, all this verbal garbage does is make everyone look like jilted high-school dates. People mike think they're sticking the boot in or helping keep MMW firmly within the boundaries of the Aberdeen "scene", but all it does is make you look real childish. Most of you have some ulterior motive for this, and many will no doubt cite Ben's on-line antics as the reason for their incessant negative contributions, but it's all horseshit. I'm not a fan of their stuff, but I can safely say that MMW are one of the few local bands who might actually manage to make something of their show, purely because they are individually and collectively very accomplished musicians, and because they aspire and aim high enough while still being realistic. For a while there, Alyssas' Wish were the band to slate here, now it seems MMW have that mantle. Whoever's "big" locally are the target, and for that reason I'm thankful that Karloff have never been a "scene" band. It's obvious to anyone that it's not about the music, as both MMW and AW before them are talented guys. It's about the local "need" to chop down the biggest tree. How sad... And all the while you all scream blue murder about the mainstream media ignoring Aberdeen and it's local efforts.

  11. I remember when I stayed in Hellhead Halls. There was a big badda boom explosion one night (never found out what caused it or where it actually was), and pretty much the entire populace of Hellhead were out to see what was going on. I was about the only person in the block who slept though it, only to go "What explosion?" to my flatmates in the morning. I sleep like the dead. But, my girlfriend has sussed that sex will wake me up, and I won't complain that way either. Muhahaha.
