The X-Files' date=' Northern Exposure, Eerie Indiana... it's impossible to watch TV after Twin Peaks. I watched both series and FWWM waiting for the final series of Six Feet Under. When it came out it ended up feeling boring and insipid. I was waiting for Nate Fisher to turn up in the black lodge.[/quote']
Yep, as well as Six Feet Under et al, I would say Millenium, Desperate Housewives, Supernatural, Riget (Kingdom Hospital), Veronica Mars, Picket Fences and Carnivale have been influenced by Peaks.
The thing is, Twin Peaks worked on so many different levels, it was a melodrama, surrealist thriller, it delt with hard hitting issues like murder/incest yet was offset by quirky comedy, it was dark, it was influenced by the horror genre and stylistically borrowed from several differnet eras. Many of the programmes since have focussed on one or two of those areas. They're all good in their own right, but it could be said, not as bold.

Al' date=' is your avatar in tribute to the many shots of traffic lights in Twin Peaks?[/quote']
It is indeed Martin, mainly down to two things: first is I'm obsessed with Twin Peaks, second is that I can't come up with any original ideas... ?(

al' date=' i spoke to hen, and he's fine with sqeezing you on the bill. up for it?[/quote']

Wow i gotta say after downloading both s1 and s2 i have to say its not that great...Fair doos im 3 episodes in but wow wee its dated innit..
Ill give a proper thought review once ive sen more i just cant see it being soon...I got river cottage rturn beyond and roadtrip to watch 1st .....Oh and cook on the wildside
Twin peaks is burnt for another day....
Hmm, I'm going to be belligerent and say I disagree entirely and it's the best tv show ever, but then I do love Twin Peaks.
It annoys me how much Lost owes to Twin Peaks, but that goes for so many other shows too it's ridiculous.

WOWBOBWOW... where is my garbonbozia?
Twin Peaks is amazing. Regarding the whole Season 2 thing, you can download it or do as Bluesxman has done and buy the only dvd release of it so far (the Spanish version), although I read somewhere that it was transfered from tape onto dvd so isn't amazing quality, but still good.
The reason Season 2 hasn't come out all this time is due to production company's apparently and rights, it's the same with the full version of the film. The first edit of Fire Walk With Me was 4 hours and had heaps of exciting extra scenes (which I won't mention in case I ruin story lines for anybody just getting into the series etc. Apparently Lynch wanted to release a dvd of FWWM with deleted scenes in the extras, however the rights bullshit stopped it.
I also have the complete 2 series on vhs, soooo good. I think the first season is amazing, the second pretty good (although the ending of Season 2 was so good I cried). The film for me is the best though, so dark and relentless in its exposure of inner darkness within small town America (just like the series and other Lynch works like Blue Velvet).
Jim ex-Drakes and Zombie Munch are really big fans of Twin Peaks as well.

I'll play Bri, screw Ross (hi Ross!).
I'll do an acoustic set to remember... you can listen to my stuff here if interested: http://www.myspace.com/deathtoal
It would be good to play for Fudge again, drinking, naked flesh, abuse, love.

Haha' date=' what a bunch of bollocks. It's like they wrote the review from looking at the photograph.[/quote']
The reviewer was most definitely there as he's a good friend of mine and I spent a lot of the weekend with him at the T-Break stage.
Unless he was a dastard apparition forever confusing the cynical t in the park regular with a twisted tongue full of acute alliteration, and sharp imagery minus Larkin-esque similes, then I think it's a pretty hot review.
-
I quite liked it' date=' though I think the sparse arrangement doesn't quite do it justice. It needs something to help build up tension as the song gets going, a cello or something...[/quote']
I agree, the acoustic tracks up there just now are demos really, but I'm always impatient and want music turned into code and electricity straight away, hoho.

Hello,
I have a new song recorded by Paul Symmons on my myspace page. I'd appreciate it if anyone would like to listen to the track and see what they think.
Rinse out and check out the page here: http://www.myspace.com/deathtoal

Yeah,
That's right. Uncle John & Whitelock are playing The Tunnels this Saturday (15th) following their triumphant set at T in the Park. Go here: http://www.myspace.com/unclejohnandwhitelock to check them out!
With support from The Jinx and acoustic demon Deathpodal (check him out here: http://www.myspace.com/deathtoal).
Keep it real mofo's!

Well, I saw PVH, Uncle John & Whitelock, Sigur Ros and Animal Collective (the latter I can't remember too well), but all were ace. Nothing else really bothered me. Sunday was immense though, got fucked up and ate curry. Six hours of good times had when the ability to balance, talk properly, constuct sentences even and basically be a human being escaped me, as I rolled about on the ground saying "I'm fucked up" and "Call the police".
-
I started tripping out when Acoustic Ladyland were on stage. Absolutely amazing.
I also had a vision of a gig in the future where they play with Guapo and Uncle John and Whitelock, while Twin Peaks is playing on the backdrop and David Lynch nods in time to the bands, introducing each before they go on.
That is now a mission in my life.

"Deathpodal - man, mystery or soon-to-be living legend? There are many theories, but either way its clear that he is a sublimely talented artist whose music has a fragile beauty perfectly suited for a live setting. Whether its a transcendent triumph or a muddy swamp-soup of madness, his comeback is sure to be fascinating." - Michael MacLennan, The Herald
"Like being wooed by a dragon on acoustic guitar. Deathpodal utilises both misery and triumph with his powerfully stirring songs exploring the darkness within his psyche" - Creme League Magazine

Thank you!
I have a gig at The Tunnels on the 29th if you're interested. Thank you for the feedback.

looks good Gav

That's probably the best endorsement I could ever hope for. I'm really sorry about your tongue though.
Thanks for replying,

Hello,
I've set up a Deathpodal myspace (fuck Rupert Murdoch), which has two tracks of mine that you can listen to (including the one recorded by Paul Symmons).
Any feedback would be appreciated, and... feel free to add yourself, I'm easy going, so long as you're not a fascist Mosley type, I'm happy.

I thought it was terrible. Characters written out, no explanation of aspects of the story, hammy script, no development of the sub plots (making the film very one dimensional), no cohesion with the first two films, pointless scenes....
Ugh, I'll stop...

I finish my degree today, finally! Over the last four years studying journalism, I have grown to hate the popular culture aspects, the journalese, the complete lack of ethics in the industry etc, although there is hope through the might of journalistic weblogs, but I digress, so I'm now a cynical bastard wannabe hack.
Anyway, I'm planning on getting shit faced tonight, an over night drunk with a few friends.
Anyone fancy tequilla's until we collapse, or simply die?
Anyone else finished uni for now and planning the "craic"?

he's annoying but infectious, and does make you laugh. I'm just wondering exactly what he's going to bring back next...

Hi everyone,
I'm going on my holidays in a few days and will be visiting my friend Nick in Hell. Anyone know anything good about the place? I think it might be too hot at this time of year, heheh!
