  1. Boke.

The Terms and Conditions (fees, deposits, agreeing to contracts that you don't see up front) make pretty ugly reading and the fact that they have categories for 'under 13s' and '13-15 yrs' is grim.

The list of "Judges" reads like a who's-who of talentless PR hacks and/or wee shite-baguettes like Tom Deacon.  Someone called Simon Keegan shamelessly and without a hint of irony lists "Talent Competition Judge" as his main claim-to-fame.

They've moved to Crown Street under a new name, which I can't remember or seem to google search.  Opens fairly soon, I think.

    Phew, great news - thanks!

It's great to have somewhere local that you can trust for a guitar setup, amp repair etc. Not to mention their enthusiasm and knowledge - that goes a long way in convincing people not to default to buying everything online.

  3. Any ideas on what's happened to II Music? Shop is empty and there's no word on the website or Facebook page apart from a few people asking the same question....

If they're completely gone I'll be gutted!  They are/were such a great shop with amazing staff and seemed to be ticking over OK in their new, smaller premises.

  4. "Fresh succulent tomato of the season made as a source for your taste buds with the finest Italian cheese"

"A wealth of taste fired with promises of finely chopped red onion, spicy beef, salami & smoked sausage, performed with garlic to be the pizza for your palate"

"An occasion of joy, brought by selection of double prawns, anchovies, plus tuna to let your hunger have a sea voyage"

Do you think the person who wrote this also writes all the food "reviews" for the Evening Express website?  Similar level of baffling "English-is-my-second-or-third-language" hyperbole.

  5. Awesome, cheers Spoonie!  Already use the app and tend to pop into Stoney or Westhill (near work) if I need any counter services but still sad to see the old branch go.  Amazing to think the only bank in a town of that size can have as little as 40 regular customers.

  6. What happens to your current account when you're bank's local branch closes?

I've had a bank account with the same branch of RBS since I was at school and now it's been announced that it is to close.  Even though I haven't lived there for years I've never had any reason to transfer or close this account (plus I like having a small branch I can call and deal with when I have to).

Will this account automatically migrate to another nearby branch?  Should I go ahead and move it myself?  I'm assuming that when the branch closes the sort-code goes with it so the account has to move somewhere?

  7. Even if I was vegetarian, it wouldn't bother me for that reason. It would bother me because it's against regulations.

I'd give that deli a 2 word review: shit sandwich.

That's not real is it?  You can't print that

  8. Posts randomly disappearing just when someone has evidently stuffed their foot in their mouth only to post an apology that then also mysteriously disappears... spoopy!

Thank the lord that we have other people quoting said knobber to at least leave a hint of what's been said.

  9. The only new thing I've installed in a few months is the AdBlocker app on Google Chrome. I haven't even downloaded anything in ages. All I use on it is Chrome, Spotify and Football Manager.

Ran the thorough scan on Avast, and it didn't find anything malicious or infected.

If CCleaner is setup to delete the windows hibernate file (hiberfil.sys) then this might account for the 1.5GB daily.  I think a Windows hibernate file sits around 80% of the RAM of your machine so this would roughly match up if you have a 2GB machine.

If you don't ever use Hibernate on your PC you can disable it from the command line by typing: powercfg -h off (full instructions here: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/819-hibernate-enable-disable.html).  Once disabled you can restart your machine and check if that's helped.

This may not be what's causing the temp file issues but it's a nice piece of house-keeping none-the-less.

  10. It's got nothing to do with my work, it's to do with my tax.

Ah ok, sorry for the misunderstanding.  I stupidly presumed that your hourly rate and details of your contract/payslip were related to your job but if that's just between you and the taxman then you're golden... probably

  11. Just to point out; I listened to a bit of the stream when I got home (it's up in full on Youtube to watch again) and the sound is really good but its never going to capture the feeling of being there as its straight out of the PA so you can't hear any ambient noise or the crowd etc.

The guys filming it did a seriously good job cutting it all together on the fly too, looks very slick.

  12. i'm watching the stream on you tube for steve Bruce on you tube. it's pretty much explained there. There is deffo an explanation. fond memories of steve drinkin whisky and smookin weed outside drummonds. great guy, but aberdeen shit city for bands.

    XX

    steamin'

    That's the spirit!

I'm sure that the live stream (dry sound straight off the PA) over Youtube really did the experience of being in the Lemon Tree last night justice.

Everyone that I spoke to really enjoyed it and it reminded all of us of what Aberdeen gigs can be like, certainly what they used to be like.  Loads of bands, all completely different, on one bill and having a great time.

500 people packed into a sold-out Lemon Tree to remember Steve - the atmosphere was incredible but you want to take a massive dump on it based on what you saw on a live stream? You are the reason aberdeen bands fail.

Cool story about standing outside Drummonds one time btw; touching stuff.

  13. somewhere I might even have a live set from deBarros recorded in laurencekirk. I might even have FeSTR, Atom, Hot Mangu, Quik and Liber8 from the same gigs. I'll have to rake about!

Sorry for the late arrival to this thread but this is such an awesome idea!! I'd love an invite if that's cool, jamiemowatt@hotmail.com

I've got hunners of Atom stuff that I could put up; I don't have that gig though Spoonie! That would be brilliant to hear; you just don't get gigs like that anymore!! What a night!
