    PINACT

Hook-laden fuzz-pop for fans of No Age and Paws.

One of The Pop Cop blog's "10 To Discover in 2013", last year saw Pinact play shows across the country and put a smart EP called "Spill Your Guts, Let Out Some Noise" online. It's going to be released on tape soon, I believe.

    MIN DIESEL

Mathy discordance along the lines of Stapleton and Dinosaur jr.

Will be playing this gig off the back of a short Scottish tour with Pinact, assuming they haven't killed each other due to cabin fever first. For those of you who like to purchase goods and services with money: MD will hopefully have some t-shirts and new recordings for sale at this gig.

    GALOSHINS

The Doors get into a fight with The Cramps: everyone wins.

Above description doesn't do these guys justice: one of the most unique and exciting bands in Scotland at the moment. Are away to release their second EP. One of WOW247's "Ones to watch in 2013".

    SIDCA

The Fall aren't from Huntly, Sebadoh started using proper studios... but what if?

Noisenik stalwarts, on-the-go with a revolving cast of members since basically forever. Recently started playing live after a prolonged period of inactivity and Aberdeen is all the better for it.

    EVERYTHINGWESAYISFACT

Guitar/drum-onslaught like Lightning Bolt or The Jesus Lizard. That's no lie.

Have also been around for a while and are back after prolonged inactivity, not as long as Sidca though. These are pretty fun to watch and have cool feedback and super-sounding riffs.

  3. here are some other records i've heard + enjoyed this year that haven't been mentioned yet

Lotus Plaza - Spooky Action At A Distance

    Grouper/Tiny Vipers - Mirroring

    The Yawns - The Yawns

    Chris Cohen - Overgrown Path

How Deep Is The Valley - Hardcore Carnivore

    We're Only Afraid of NYC - zero.four

also - the new Sebadoh e.p. > new Dino jr.

also - i've seen no mention of Fiona Apple in this thread. is this because her new record is terrible QuestionMarkBlockNSMB.png

  4. Edinburgh post-punk duo Black International are looking for a gig in Aberdeen in February. Either the 7th or the 9th. They are dead good at music and nice guys to boot.

    http://blackinternational.bandcamp.com/

    stuff other people have said:

“By shovelling fuzzed-up guitars and clattering drums down an acrid hole of industrialised post-punk, the Edinburgh based duo make for a welcome antithetical thrill compared to the city’s gentle folk exterior.”

    Billy Hamilton, Radar

“This duo from Edinburgh are difficult. But sometimes difficult turns out interesting and exciting. Rather like The Fall, they are a band who don’t sound like they are playing the game.”

    Rick Fulton, Daily Record

“We’re carried along by the sheer drive of their energy.”

    Tony Kiernan, Is This Music?

“These guys have got a bad attitude… and I like it!”

    Vic Galloway, BBC Radio Scotland

    anyone keen?
