  1. If they've just changed their mind after saying you could take the days off then you're totally within your rights to kick up a fuss (ie, demand the day off or get them to give you back the money you've spent on tickets etc)...alternatively have a quiet word with your boss, like the one who is higher up than the guy telling you that you have to work. If you can sweet talk them well enough you should be able to get it off and smirk at your manager.

Or you could blatently lie and say you're ill. I did that when my boss refused to give me the day after my 18th birthday off, even when I told him I'd probably phone in with a hangover. he wasn't very surprised when I didn't turn up.

  2. ooh, talking of The Dolls...anyone know when the tickets go on sale? I popped into One Up on Monday and the girl behind the counter said they hadn't been released yet, probably wouldn't be for a while seeing as they were playing in August.

Would prefer not to pay the booking fee etc I'd have to pay online seeing as I live 2 mins from town

  3. I can't make up my mind if I liked it or not. I've been reading the series since I was about 7 so it was never going to be perfect.

Martin Freeman was good, very sweet and (mostly) harmless - arf arf arf! Ahem. Wasn't convinced by Sam Rockwell purely because the extra head is supposed to be on his shoulder and he was too loud and american.

And on the topic of extra heads...what was the little head subplot for, it served *no* purpose whatsoever.

All the subtlies had gone, I know Adams wrote the screen play but it just lacked the wit of the previous versions.

  4. oh...so she's *another* blonde socialite who bitches about people and spends daddy's money?

Urgh. Why are these people even famous. What is it with the UK for finding the most bland, uninteresting children of vaugely famous people and turning them into celebrities? Are we that desperate? At least Paris Hilton did porn to make herself semi interesting.

  5. Erm' date=' what was the solution if you don't mind me asking? Becasue I'm having the same problem, but not as bad. I would like to get it sorted before my player comes back (it broke! :'()[/quote']

I uninstalled the disk that came with it and then only reinstalled the Zen Mirco Media Explorer I opened that and it asked if i wanted to rip music from a CD so I crossed my fingers and it worked. You can just pop it into your player instead of ripping to the computer and then the player. Don't know if you'll be able to be sure it's sorted until you get your player back though.

I didn't realise it wasn't coloured al the way round otherwise I'd have gone for purple or something. Mine's black, just because i thought it would look slinky and sexy but it looks a little daft having a white behind ^_^

  6. I've got to say that I've hear a lot about moshulu bar staff getting their ex's banned recently. Surely the barstaff only have the authority to refuse to serve someone, not to ban them from the place outright? If the management want to ban someone then they should be the one to tell that person, not the part time staff.

*i know I don't know all teh details involved but i keep hearing the same thing over and over.

  7. I just got my shiney new toy today and once I'd installed all teh stuff that came with it my Windows Media Player started taking ages to rip tracks from a Cd onto my computer. It's been ripping The Dresden Dolls for over 2 hours now and only on track 8 of 12. Anyone know how to sort it? I've tried restarting/reinstalling/different programmes already.

    It's so frustrating! :swearing:

  8. I'm just glad the Beatles weren't number one. Yes, they did some good music, but to put them at the top of every best song/album/band list is really narrow minded, boring and taking the piss. I'm not a huge fan of Radiohead but it made a nice change.

I think I've only got about 3 of the albums mentioned but there was a nice mix of stuff there. I'm seriously concerned about the people who voted for Dido and Robbie Williams though...how did they sneak in there? :help:

What did you all expect though? You've all seen hundreds of this type of show, were you really expecting to see every band you've ever liked? It's a fact that nine times out of ten these 'top 100 best...' shows will be topped by either The Beatles (or one of the solo efforts) or the Simpsons seeing as they only ever seem to do shows on music or tv. Blah.
