But when you get a band that are technically ace and have the tunes' date=' well, it's mind blowingly amazing and totally life changing![/quote']
I agree with you entirely, but I don't agree with the idea that because a band is technically proficient, they can't be absolutely awful (not an opinion that you're expressing). I've seen far too many good guitarists playing in terrible sub-funk indie bands than is good for anyone's soul...
-
yeah but the thing is jamesy was saying is that there are some bands that you just cant say are shite...
But you CAN say any band suck. The worst bands I've seen have all been technically proficient, but the songs themselves were diabolical, going on and on and on... I'd far rather see a band that aren't as musically fluent, at least it makes it more interesting.
It's like those bastard porcelain dogs that pensioners rabidly collect, they may be really well made, but they still make me want to vomit up my own intestines.
-
Just thinking about it still makes me want to vomit gin. But it was great, and yet so horrible, mostly in an alcoholic way. Gav, Al, etc deserve all the credit in the world, even though I'm back in Nebraska, memories of that day will haunt me forever more...

would someone arrange for Keane to be played as my body is burned?
No, but I'll play your body as Keane is burned

i don't like reviews. they assume that their opinion is superior.
Why do they? They have to write 300-500 words, or something similar, about a band's record for the purpose of a magazine article. It's their job. They're being paid to give an opinion, how can you assume from that they think it's superior? If 10EW sent a CD to rocksound then they obviously wanted an opinion in there, superior or otherwise.

I have lots of questions, mostly about why my neck feels so stiff right now.
-
I'll batter you. Though I may be breaching my Gavfest contract if I do, I feel like Prince in the 90s when he wrote 'sloth' in pen on his face, and developed a beer-belly of pure funk. Don't worry, I'll probably be too busy ruing my decision to play to actually find the festival site.
-
just drive south and let the sweet sweet music guide you there.
Last time I did that I found myself making pancakes at a youth hostel in El Salvador. Not this time, whatever mind tricks you use.
-
I'm playing, and I still don't know how to get there. I don't even have details of my rider, lousy scumbags. Consider the party cancelled, I'm off to Achiltibuie where they know how to do it right.

Take them to Dingwall, and I'm there! Take them to Aberdeen, and I'd still be interested... they were very good at the SOIA gig at King Tuts earlier this year...
-
you're all wrong and you're all wanks

Yay! A rock band in Inverness! I'm so excited that I wouldn't even care if they did suck. Oh, I remember the good old days, months ago when i lived in a place called Glasgow, when this wouldn't have interested me at all...
-
It wasn't interesting, it was a badly written piece of junk. I felt like I wasted 10 min of my life reading his 'review', and if he really thinks slagging off Metallica and St Anger is 'controversial' nowadays, he's even dumber than he looks.
PS What's the problem with Lars saying they wouldn't know if Cliff Burton fits into the band nowadays? It's hardly offensive, just an indication that Metallica have changed a lot since his death (which Robinson himself rants on about), and that the person Cliff Burton may have been possibly not have fitted in if he was still alive. Big deal.

Friday 13th August
Hmm, and just a day before Popcorn Fiend makes his comeback at the Gavfest near Stonehaven. I love it when a plan comes together...
-
Yeah, what's the date again?
-
I hope Popcorn Fiend gets it. Now there's an act that deserves some fucking recognition.
-
Egads! We won't be playing now. Personnel problems yet again.
In September we return with:
a) New songs
b) A brand new guitarist - CRAIG DEADLOSS
c) A new bass player - none other than ROBB A GO-GO
d) A UK tour
e) A three song sampler
So it's not all bad news' date=' adoring fans
[/quote']
So what's the full line-up now?
-
did anyone go see colour of fire??
highlights on sat were peish!!i was well bored' date='[/quote']
I saw 10 min of Colour of Fire, last two songs, very impressive I thought, never heard of them before. Had some very catchy tunes...
-
Jesus, that's the replacement for David Bowie? Guess I'll have to take an extra bottle of whisky to compensate...
-
And when are people going down? The people I was going with are still working on the Friday, which buggers things up for me, because I wanted to get there as soon as possible after the campsite opens...
-
bollocks. bowie was one of the three main reasons for me going (bowie' date=' pixies, muse). if muse still play it then i'll definitely go see them.[/quote']
Well, Muse were going to be on at the same time as Bowie, so now you can probably go to the NME stage and see them instead. Though if I were the head of T in the Park I'd probably make them headliners of the main stage on Sat now, seeing as they stole Glastonbury just a few days ago...
-
Popcorn Fiend did. I heard Pap's audience was getting 'more selective'...
-
I was at that gig, but I left during GYBE because they were (to me) an anticlimax after how amazing Sigur Ros were. Oh, how enchanting it was...
Get uras to gavfest
