  1. I just recorded using cheap-o PC mic as it is all I had to hand. If time was on my side I would have waited to get my condensor mic + pop sheild and then some know how. I've been going through taking off about 3-6dB where there are louder pops and other noises. This seems to be working quite well.

The audio is getting MEGA compressed in flash down to a really low size so it isn't too important to sound spiffing! 7mb wave file is now embedded in a movie that is only 96kb.

  2. I saw the video on TV for "This Isn't It"...downloaded the album on Torrent today. Not normally the style of music I go for but getting more into that..."weird"...pop. Certainly a departure from all the folk I have been listening to of late. Seems like a really good album with some mega catchy tunes.

    Gretsch + Girl + Fuzz = b'awesom!

  3. I was wondering if someone can tell me some quick EQ tips for spoken word? I have to make a presentation for univeristy which contains students speaking. I was wondering if there were any general tips and tricks for EQ etc. that I could apply to make it sound a wee bit better?

Any quick fix for popping P's and sssssssssssssssssssss S's

  4. I only got Pro Tools as someone was selling it on here for £100 and from what I had read it was good. I am sure I can get it working well. The system upgrade should help.

I dunno if I would have been better getting an M-Audio version of pro tools...or the card and using something else althogether.

I saw the Combo version of Guitar Rig. I got Guitar Rig on torrent so I could try before I buy basically. I really like what I heard <which wasnt much> and the interface.

I will look into the emu0404...really I think getting a good asio card will help me with Guitar Tracks and possibly recording if I can aquire a different sequencer.

Midi keyboard + interface is the next issues so I can use reason...so much stuff to try and pick up on. Really don't want to buy expensive/shit gear....do you have MSN Keilan? Perhaps I could add you and you could give me some advice on a set up?

  5. Hey. Wondering if those in the know can give me a pointer in the right direction.

    I now have:

Pro Tools LE with MBOX 1

    fxpansion BFD Drum Module

    Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2

    External 300 Gb Audio Drive

Problem is when I use Guitar Rig / Pro Tools / BFD I get a lot of clicks and lag. I'll put this down mainly to the shitty sound card I have in my PC? I am getting a general upgrade in future...new mobo/processor etc etc.

What I was wondering was what cards are good for low latency monitoring? I don't really need lots of in/outs for recording as I have the MBOX for recording. I would like to be able to use Guitar Rig as a stand alone program with minimal latency....un-noticeable should be possible. BFD just doesn't work with my current card <works on newer PC in the living room>.

Pro Tools wasn't good for monitoring at all but this would be down to the PC as it does it's own shizzle.

    Any help much appriciated!

  6. Druggy scum....really not a fan and I don't see what the attraction is. I didn't get the Libertines either. Infact most new British bands aren't to my taste at all...add on drug use and media hype and I think its cringe worthy.

  7. No.1? I downloaded all of The Beatles albums in one zip file. Couldn't listen to it all...I just disliked too much. Yes they have some fantastic & amazing songs. They also have a lot of substandard songs...well at least to me ears. Not my thing at all. Out of the 350 or songs they have written I can think of about 30 I really like.

Ofcourse not saying they aren't good...just a lot of material doesn't work for me.

  8. What do you use for drilling the holes for the machine head retaining screws? I've had trouble finding a small enough drill bit as you have to pre-drill before screwing in. Finally got a 1mm and 1.5mm drill bit. Got a hand drill...and now I need a pin chuck!

  9. Also need to know the power available from your PSU. Friend of mine got a NVidia 6600GT to last him a little while. He had to get a PSU as well as his current PSU couldn't handle the extra juice required to run the more powerfull card. Luckily he thought this might be the case and had a PSU ready.

I would say the nvidia 6600GT is a good card and is available on AGP x8...xpertvision make one you can pick up for £110 I think. Lots of band for your buck on an older AGP machine.

  10. You mean the live acoustic double CD? It is really good. I like the new single...going to be a grower yet. They are no where near being passed it...Riot Act is probably one of their best albums for sure. I am interested in finding out what the new album will be like.
