  1. Look into a firewire interface (although sadly these look to be on the way out). I had a year of grief with a USB interface and haven't looked back since going to firewire 5 years ago. I also think Reaper may be part of the problem, have you tried any other DAW's? Cubase is the way to go....Reaper to me looks like how Cubase looked 15 years ago, and more buggy!

Also, check your Windows power settings. Newer versions of windows seem to want to enforce power saving options on you, you always want this to be Max Performance mode. How many USB devices are you trying to use? If you try and use USB hard drives at the same time as a USB audio interface that would cause big issues. Other obvious things like trying another USB cable, different USB port etc?

Good thread here on some diganostic tools to get audio running for reaper. This looks like to much work to me!

Just out of interest, what is your latency set at? I always needed at least 12ms with USB!

  2. I got season 10 on DVD for Christmas. Reviews seem to suggest it's the beginning of the 'decline'. Clueless. I watched it all in one day (didn't get a whole lot else done that day) and every episode is a winner. The one where Homer becomes an inventor is excellent, and the one where Red Barclay dies so Homer drives his truck to Atlanta; so good. Not a bad episode on it.

I need to download season 10 again I think, that's some of my favourite episodes there. Some great one liners also!

"Let's just say I'm sitting in the right chair!"

Looking at the episodes in season 11 it might be right that thats the end of the era, couple of crap ones there.

  3. Bobby Fischer Against the World - I'm not really interested in chess and knew nothing about him but found this absolutely fascinating, great insight into the mind of the genius, which is never without madness...

Man on Wire - Pretty well known as this was huge when it came out, but I really like this, great bit of escapism..I actually can't believe its true

Exit Through The Gift Shop - Street art documentary by Banksy (aka Shepherd Fairey) on Mr Brainwash (aka Banksy) ... i'm sure theres more to this than meets the eye... end up feeling like Im watching Kaiser Sosais

Upside Down The Creation Records Story - Whenevr I think of Creation records I think of Oasis, so instantly switch off, and wasn't really aware of all the bands on this label (bit before my time) but this is really enjoyable, and some of the bands are pretty cool (except oasis and primal scream) Great story

Anton Corbijn : Inside Out - might be boring if you have no idea who he is, but if you know him then worth a look, not quite on the same wavelength as Bobby Fischer but some similarities....quite an isolated guy

End of the road : how money became worthless - worth a look but nothing particularly startling, although I did enjoy someone echoing my own setiments that capitalism is just a ponsi scheme....

Couple that looked interesting but I turned off half way through The Corporation (over 2 hours of the same thing) Sketches of Frank Gehry (might come back to this one, but if you've ever seen the simpsons with frank gehry, they absolutely nailed him and his inspiration!) Modify (about body modification, from body builders to fucked up people like that catman)

Nothing else really grabbing me, but the documentaries are far more interesting than any of the films they have.

  4. The posts are pointless without salaries. Lets see some figures....want to know how deep in the scrap heap I've become.

I seem to have been stuck at 25k since 2006, it was ok money then, but then I bought a house. Bad mistake.

I read that the average salary in Aberdeen (excluding offshore work, which is like 65k) is something like 37k. Can I ask what these jobs are?

I have no qualifications, little experience in anything except the stupid job I do (making sure lines on a screen are squiggly and not straight) Im sure it has something to do with oil and gas, I don't even use oil or gas so the irony of suffering for this industry is beginning to grate (despite the fact my central heating is oil, yup its been a cold winter)

I need a  new job but someting that pays at least 10k more, and that lets me just start my work, maybe say a quick hi, crack on, graft hard, get the fuck out when its time, and be done with it. Fuck brown nosing colleagues who step over everyone in the quest for promotions and authority over people better at the job than them, fuck team leads and bosses who earn more than twice as much money as me for just asking me to work harder and faster while making me work slower in the process, and fuck clients/customers/users/whatever you want to call them. I go to my work to make money, end of. (Why isn't everyone the same?!?!)

Any ideas for a better job?! I'm ready to burn down my house and live in a sewer....

  5. Yeah it hurts. Imagine my face when I hadn't seen the guitar in a year then it back in that condition!

I do have one of these, very different guitar tho...has an Invader on the bridge. It has a couple of chips on it but this doesn't stop R&B charging me top dollar for it. I like it but its not the guitar for me....

Have you got a better pic of the Gordon Smith?

TBH I'm really after a stock GS1 double cut in the wood colour like the Ibanez above but can just never find them and the waiting time on a new one seems excessive. Nice beasts tho....sorry for thread hijack!

  6. Upgrade to an Arturia MiniBrute! ;)

I found the manual, take it you have tried this? And have you tried using specific channels instead of outputting to all, the MIDI interface on the nanozwerg might not understand that? Sounding likely thats it the synth thats not working :(

Have you tried other software? If youre on PC, this is a really good simple one to get working, I compose all my stuff in Cubase but use this just for playing back the exported MIDI files for "live" use... http://www.filter24.org/seq24/shots.html

    MIDI-Channel

To set the MIDI-channel, press and hold

Wave (LFO) for approx. one second. Keep the

button pressed and set the channel using the

Rate control. The channel number is

displayed using the LEDs next to the LFO-wave. Add up the numbers next to the LEDs to

    determine the current channel (e.g. 1+4 = channel 5, 1+2+8 = channel 11). With no LED

lit, the MIDI channel is 16.
