Spoonie
Just found out that they're makign the Michael Lewis book into a film, with Adam Mackay (of Anchorman, Talladega Nights, The Other Guys fame) directing! The book is fantastic and it's really gripping, especially given the topic. Michael Lewis' other film adaptations (Moneyball, The Blind Side) have been ace but I'm really keen to see how this one turns out because it's hard to imagine how they can get into the detail of the financial instruments and the behaviours in a compelling way.
colb
I thought Moneyball was a decent film, it didn't really have anything to do with the book though. The Big Short doesn't seem filmable to me, I reckon Flash Boys or Liars Poker would be a lot easier to make into movies.
Spoonie
Yeah, I'd love to see a film version of Liars Poker. Yet to read Flash Boys but I've become a fan of his work. The Blind Side only really focussed on Oher's story, rather than all of the historical stuff (except the very intro) so they might go for a thin strand focussing on one of the guys
colb
I really enjoyed Flash Boys, gets in to some pretty specific detail on the mechanics of automated trading but it's fascinating.
Spoonie
I will check it out. I love theway he makes pretty complex stuff understandable in The Big Short. He has a real knack for it
