FatHand
It always surprises me that there are so few keyboard players out there or at least folk willing to play in rock/alternative bands. I knew loads of people who played growing up. Perhaps the way it is taught, focusing mainly on classical music, makes it feel daunting taking it into a less controlled environment or maybe folk don't continue playing after school due to expense of owning a digital piano/real piano. Still, guitar players seem to manage! I don't play in cover bands these days but I would definitely recommend anyone who used to play piano or keyboards to try it out. Cover bands are a good starting off point as you don't have write your own material and you can learn how to play piano in a group. All you need these days is a laptop and a USB midi keyboard and you have all the synths, pianos you'd ever need.
