Bass player required for cover/function band.

Versatile bass player required for cover/function band with a wide ranging repertoire of over 60 songs (and with plans to expand further), covering modern pop, motown, soul, 80's, 70's, 60's, oldies etc. etc. A bit of (almost) everything really.

We need someone who is comfortable playing the cheesier classics as well as with the fact that we use backing tracks to fill in strings/brass and other parts in order to reproduce many musical styles.

I could have been tempted, but I really can't abide backing tracks. Not from a playing point of view - I play along to recorded music a lot for practice anyway. But as a punter I much prefer that the sounds can be attributed to someone doing something on stage.

Couldn't agree more - so if you are looking for a versatile mainly rhythmn guitarist with some backing vocals, experienced and lots in the repertoire, I'd be interested too.

Hmm! I tend to agree also. Much prefer genuine, bona fide bands with genuine, bona fide musicians. I always feel kinda cheated when you hear a trumpet or a piano but can't see someone playing it! But thats just my opinion.
