The Ghost Of Fudge
Fudge Industries International and the Moorings Bar proudly present:Saturday 26th May - ‘Justice Forever' with DJ Lucifer and two hours of kick-ass bluegrass. LARRY AND HIS FLASKLarry and His Flask are a punk-bluegrass musical group from Central Oregon. Touring extensively they have supported several bands such as the Dropkick Murphies (a slot supporting the Dropkick Murphys in the Flask's hometown led to an invitation to open for the Celtic punk kingpins across the eastern half of the United States), Streetlight Manifesto, Strung Out, and more and embarked on full Canadian and American tours by themselves. Playing various festivals, the largest to date has been the 2011 Vans Warped Tour, with Alternative Press putting them on their '10 Must See Under-The-Radar Warped Tour Acts' list.Brothers Jamin and Jesse Marshall formed the group in 2003 beginning as a punk rock trio. They, "spent [the] first half-decade stuck in a primordial, punk-rock goop" where the goal was always "party over perfection."Since shifting to acoustic instruments and bringing tubas, trumpets, doublebass, mandolin and banjo into their sound, busking has also been a part of their tours: "We play a lot of street corners if we are low on gas money."Determined to make music for a living or die trying, the six brothers set out in a van, intent on playing for anyone, anywhere at any time. From coffee shops to dive bars and street corners to theater stages, the Flask honed their sound and show through experience, attacking each gig like buskers who must grab and hold the attention of passersby in hopes of collecting enough change to get to the next town. The band's new songs are a blurry blend of lightning fast string-band picking, gorgeous nods to old-school country, and sublime multi-part harmonies, all presented through a prism of punk chaos. The boys have grown and changed, yes, but their shows are still gloriously physical displays of live music's sheer power. In other words, keep your eyes peeled, or risk taking the heavy end of Jesse Marshall's flailing, stand-up bass right between the eyes. www.facebook.com/larryandhisflaskwww.larryandhisflask.comFree entry before 8.45pm.
