Kris Drever is a talented guitarist and singer from the Orkney Islands whose debut solo album Black Water won him the Horizon Award at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2007.

He was also an awards winner the following years with Lau, the band that Kris plays in with Aidan ORourke and Martin Green, winning Best Group in 2008 and 2009. His anticipated second album, Mark the Hard Earth is released on Navigator in Spring 2010.

Kris has toured and recorded all over the world with names such as Kate Rusby and Eddi Reader. He is also a noteworthy composer and has collaborated with Roddy Woomble (Idlewild), Ian Carr (Kate Rusby Band) and John McCusker. In addition to this recent work, Kris has an extensive back catalogue including work with Cathy Ryan (ex of Cherish the Ladies), Fine Friday, Leo McCann, Heidi Talbot and multi-award winner Julie Fowlis.

amonn Coyne, who now lives in Edinburgh is originally from Ireland (Dublin). He learnt his playing from a variety of sources and is a member of the younger generation of Irish musicians.

In the music scene he has performed and recorded with a vast array of people including Siobhn and Tommy Peoples, The Wrigley Sisters, Eileen Ivers (Ex Riverdance), Sharon Shannon, Jonny Hardie (Old Blind Dogs) and Gavin Marwick (cd 'The Blue Lamp'), Russell's House, and most recently Scottish international band Salsa Celtica.

His 2007 released CD with Kris Drever is called 'Honk Toot Suite'. amonn's first solo CD, through the round window, on Compass Records, was released in the US on 13th August. It is a work of banjo music and more featuring amonn on tenor banjo, mandolin, tenor guitar, 6-string guitar and tenor national steel guitar. Accompanying him on the CD are a host of luminaries of the Irish music scene and beyond.

The Halifax Herald of Nova Scotia, Canada reported of the two - The clear, earthy tone of his four-string banjo amplified the effect of his sharp picking, while Kris Drever 's percussive chords and driving bass runs kept feet tapping.

A previous winner of the Shetland Young Fiddler of The Year, Laura plays fiddle and sings. She played with Swingin' Fiddles for a good few years and was lucky enough to tour many places including Canada, Australia and America. She enjoys playing music which is just that little bit different and tends to make her own style and interpret tunes in a 'laura-way'! Currently playing with the Pictones in Aberdeen, standing in for the fiddlers in Danse Macabre and the Rolling Stovies on occasion, and generally playing with all manner of folk when needed! She composes tunes and has recently started writing songs.
