sonhenry
OK, I gotta ask, anyone had any fret work done in the local shops? I've got a guitar that needs a fret-level, just not sure where to take it.....Cheers!

I wanted routing done for an extra pickup and the neck route from single to humbucker. I could have done a better job myself with a chisel and a hammer, the routing was miles out. Had to dump the body and get a new one.
sonhenry
Well, funny thing, that....I'm tired of being at the mercy of other people with this, so I ordered up some tools from StewMac and re-fretted an old silvertone a half-dozen times and now I've got it down. A few more refrets on charity-shop guitars and I'm going to take on my strat.

PeteBuchan
What you need to get is a nice flat oil stone. That's what's used for levelling frets. Check out: Project Guitar.com :: Guitar Project.comThere's loads of tutorials for that sort of thing on there. It's something I'll be doing to a number of guitar's I've been building recently. Once it warms up a bit outside I can get them all sprayed, fretted, levelled and dressed. Here's one of them:http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o218/PeteBuchan/12StringColoured-1.jpgIt's been coloured but not lacquered yet - and it's been fretted, but not levelled.
