Hog
Just wondering if there is a compression effect or something similar for my vocal recordings on Adobe Audition. Also, is there any plug-ins for vocals/guitar?CheersHog : )

If you want some free (LEGAL) VST effects, look here...http://www.kjaerhusaudio.com/

imprinted
Thanks Keilan. What is a VST?a loose analogy would make a VST akin to a Stompbox - i.e it's something you run your sound through to make it worse/better/different. The more knowledgeable people of the board will be able to explain it better.
threeornothing
When in doubt...wikipedia! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_Studio_TechnologyBasically its effects plug ins (or virtual instruments) that work in real time, zero latency within your sequencer package. So just like with a real desk you could take a Y cable and patch in a compressor on an insert, you can virtually insert a VST compressor and add it to the signal path of your channel, or you could create an auxilary channel and add a reverb, then send some signal from any channel to that auxilary channel to add reverb.Direct X (DX) plug ins offer the same functionality, as well as RTAS (pro tools only) Audio Units (Mac)The opposite of this would be your sequencer's built in effects processing, such as reverse, normalise, pitch, fade in/out etc. These are reffered to as "offline processing" and may affect the original WAV file depending on how your sequencer works. (In Cubase SX, applying an offline processing effect will create a copy of the WAV file (or section of the wav file) you are working on, and you can undo any step using the offline processing history. The VST plug ins can be applied in this manner, but its far better to use them in real time you can change controls on the fly while working towards your desired sound, automate any part of the effect (input, output, dry/wet, reverb length, flanger depth, whatever....), side chain the compressor etc......This probably doesn't answer any questions
