  1. Good for you. FYI I have had a track played to a paying audience in a very discerning clubnight in san francisco' date=' and they lapped it up, so go figure. I certainly will not be giving up.[/quote']

We've had about 9000 people listen to our music this year alone and have had amazing feed back from it. And thats from people all over the world not just this *boring* music scene.

But according to you we suck!

    Go figure.

  2. The guy asked what the scene is like' date=' I wasn't talking about this gig, and I just gave my honest impression of what I have seen of it. I don't like rock or it's subgenres, there is just nothing going on here that does it for me, except what Philip is doing, because it's actually *creative* and musically more sophisticated than the typical 3 and 4 piece rock-derived bands which appear to make up the bulk of the "scene".

And you know, I'm sorry to say it, but there's no accounting for taste either when it comes to the audience for this stuff, when most of the people who go to these gigs are basically into pop music.[/quote']

Go moan on someone else thread man. Just cause its not your thing doesnt give you the right to say its not *creative*. its as ive said before if you actually created some thing that was new and fresh (and this is not me saying i dont like your tunes cause some of them are ok) then maybe you would have some right to say this but your not. Ive heard countless other people make songs that sound like the ones you make

  3. Also' date=' why should a band always strive to expand their sound? Sure, when a band does so, that's cool. But there are a lotta bands who do not, and are still great nevertheless.[/quote']

I agree with you to a point on that. Its good to see bands sticking to what they are good at and making that sound their own instead of changing to suit whats popular at the time. If they have something they are happy with and they feel it is what they do best then why should they?

However i do feel its important for a band to keep exploring for new possibilities in their sound. In point (am im just using this as an example cause im in the band) i feel we have managed to open new possibilities in our song writting due to the fact we have changed our style slightly. (but then i suppose when you win worst band in aberdeen twice you should think about it hehe) We havent completely lost what people used to enjoy from a Point set we've just taken it to a new level.

  4. yeah the mans *laughs* an arse it has to be said.

But your right whats the point in having a go at something you either dont like or understand? Sitting there and saying "oh the music is shit and unimaginative" isnt helping anyone. Either go out and do something about it stripey or just piss off and leave the shit music scene to do as it will.

Not everything will be to everyones taste that much is obvious but everything deserves a chance at least no matter what.

  5. But serioulsy whats the point stripey?

Any time anything good about local bands appears you pitch in with your fucking boring negative views.

    anyway,

i am so out of touch with the aberdeen music scene - can someone give me a sort of round-up of the current scene cos i'm coming home in 2 months and want to get right into it.

The music scene in aberdeen is ok depending on what you like to hear. cocks like stripey dont really know what theyre on about. Good bands you should check out are My Minds Weapon, Contra, Nero, Black Atom, Turning 13, Fester(if your lucky enough), The Excerts(again if your lucky). But as i say it depends on what you listen to.

  6. I think last night was one of the best gigs ive been to in a while!

For everyone who moans that people dont stay down the front for gigs nowadays should have been there last night there were as many people watching from the start to the finish

and they were all down the front. thanks to everyone who was there you were all brilliant.

As for the music i thought all the bands were really good last night. Crashdown were awsome hope to see them again, 5 finger discount were good as well although i really dont like the covers get rid of them guys, and Broken sunshine played really well last night i thought one of their best gigs ive seen. how you played the last song i will never know but well done!!!!

    DEESC!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. As such beliefs are of great importance - have shaped punk' date=' then those whose views conflict with these would not be welcome. For example individuals who hold with right wing or christian belief, those who seek to promote sexism and homophobia, and so on. Without leftist/anti-authoritarian views? Of course such people are welcome. So long as they do not seek to promote opinion that runs contrary with a seeking of social justice and equality.[/quote']

    fair enough thanks.

  8. Man you don't have a clue. I really mean it. Do you even know what a dubplate is? Dave Clarke is a pisspoor radio1-friendly DJ and that is NOT the underground scene. You know what' date=' it's not even worth my time explaining this shit to you. FOAD immediately please, you farmers do my fucking head in.[/quote']

Haha you truely are a cock stripey thanks!

Thats some anwser take you long to think that one out?

  9. The difference is' date=' with dnb/house nights, the tunes that people know and love, and set the dancefloor off, change from month to month as new stuff comes out. This is the equivalent of live gigs with rock stuff, the clubs are the forum for new talent and new material, its not about latching onto safe old classics and caining them over and over. If a new tune is good, and really gets things going, then it will get more popular, stuff which is shit fades and dissapears, its all about the constant flow of new material, the search for the fresh, and this can only be a good thing for any music scene.

You simply cannot compare that sort of vibrant LIVING culture, to the kind of "rock" nights you get here. This is why I compared them to a school disco, in another thread.[/quote']

But isnt that exactly the same with a rock club? they play new stuff and i f people like it they want to hear it again. as i say ive seen Dave Clarke heaps of times now and every time he still brings out the classic tunes that people want to hear. the same songs hes had in his set i dare say from when hes startes. obviously there will be new tunes as well but thats the same everywhere you go. I cant say that the House/Electro scene is anymore exciting than anyother.

  10. ....hiphop/dnb/house/trance nights are about the fresh' date=' the new experience, it's a showcase for new tunes and the audience demands that - which is why I can't understand the way rock clubs work.[/quote']

Ive been to a lot of nights like these and you find that even in nights like them the crowd reacts best to the tunes they know and enjoy just like in rock clubs.

i guarentee if you go to a dave clarke night he will play pontape(sp) or Bk will play still high at some point during his set cause the crowd want to hear them just like people im moshulu want to hear songs they know and enjoy.

  11. why does rock djing not count?

Mixing two records with decks isnt that hard anyway. Granted that the more complex stuff, like knowing when and where to cut the bass and using the mids and trebles in the right way, does take time and effort. but as has been said when mixing rock music that just isnt possible most of the time. what with different beats time signatures and all that.

Surely these guys have as much right to be called djs as the guys who play sets in drum and Kef everyweekend its just a different style of the same thing isnt it?

  12. so this is where the ''ned kids'' on this forum chill

next thing i see is some yobbo like milner posting ''stripey is a poopy pants he likes repetitive music neh neh' date=' neh neh, neh''

    [/quote']

Hmm cant remeber saying that. in fact i dont mind his music but it his attitude thats sucks. and the fact he seems to think he is so much better than everyone else because of the music he does.

And could you please explain how im a yobo? never been called that. Quite interesting really.

  13. No one decides. It is a fact the leftist/anti-authoritarian opinion is central to the beliefs held by the punk community. Such ideas are generally accepted. It is these views that make the punk underground what it is. They define it.

So then are people without thoses views not welcome then? Again im not trying to be cheeky, i think this is one of the best threads ive read on here for a while, ive learned a lot but i would like to know if punk is for people who only believe in leftist/anti-authoritarian views? cause thats what you seem to be saying to me.

  14. Go and stick a plaster on your anus' date=' obviously the bleeding is due to the big smelly cocks which have penetrated your tight young hole. But hey, I suppose you have to earn pocket money somehow...

In the case of aberdeen, the "wrong" perspective, as you see it, is actually the right perspective, and is part of the process of change, diversification and development which is central to any healthy culture.

It's OK though, I forgive you, because you just a child, and hopefully, if you are lucky, one day you wil become an educated person.

I don't fancy your chances though, to be honest.[/quote']

Haha you speak so much shit its funny. keep going please.
