Bump - this is tonight!
OLA are a very, very good live act and I'd encourage everyone to try to pop down to see them tonight before they head off to headline the Seedlings Stage at Belladrum!

He sounds like a sinister Drew Barrymore. That story beats anything that happened at my school hands down.
Certainly puts the Mrs Findlayson "wooden tit" shenanigans mentioned above to shame.
God damn Westhill Academy............... Although I mind hearing that the reason for safety locks having been installed on the windows at WA was because another member of the foreign languages staff had been found hanging out of the first floor window ready to jump.
Probably an urban myth to be fair.

I went to school in Glasgow, at the same time a certain pupil made a famous return.
The new boy was called Brandon Lee. He was tall and plucked his eyebrows into thin wee lines. He was 17 and new to the area. Did all his highers and starred in the school show. Applied for medical school and was an all-round popular kid among pupils and teachers alike.
Except he was a big weirdo whose real name was Brian and, oh yeah, he was actually 32years old. He'd actually attended the school 15 years previously but been rejected from uiniversity. And he thought the best course of action was to go back in time and retake his highers. And he wasn't going to let a little thing called reality stop him!
Craziest of all is that he was taught by some of the same teachers, second time around. He was eventually caught when he went to go on holiday with his pals, and they saw his passport. Imagine that conversation! He got away with it for about a year before he got caught.
I never knew him personally, but it was legendary. When the story broke there were news reporters and TV crews everywhere around the gates and big cranes with cameras on them. Some first years who'd only been in the school a fortnight giving exclusive interviews about how they knew him and what he was like.
Years later I was helping edit the school magazine and we were looking back at old examples for inspiration. We found one from the year Brandon Lee was around, and he'd actually submitted a story all about how to mix the perfect Martini or something like that.
He was 32. He assumed the identity of a 17 year old. He starred in the school show and wrote very grown up articles for the magazine. And he did it all under the name Brandon Lee. And he got away with it for ages.
I'd say that was pretty ridiculous.

That is absolutely brilliant yet scary as hell at the same time!!

New drummer required to join Aberdeen-based band.
All other elements of the band are in place, several tunes have been written, studio time booked for purposes of recording album, gigs secured in Edinburgh and other dates further afield are expected to be booked in the near future.
Drummer must be willing to commit to at least one practice session (1.5-2 hours) in Aberdeen weekly.
Please PM me for further details.
As Steve says above - that's the name of the band and links to our older tunes and last recorded tune are there for an idea of what we've been doing but these are not necessarily representative of the future direction of the band.
As mentioned above, there are a large set of new songs written with a new album in mind and a drummer with different ideas and styles of play may dictate how these are developed.

Wouldn't turn my nose up at a grand for my band. If it's correctly organised and isn't a scam of any sort I don't see the problem. Wouldn't enter cos I'm too cool and cynical but it's potentially a good opportunity for young bands.
How well organised is it though if one "heat" has already taken place (look at the website) before it was advertised on this site - which has got to be the first place you would go if you were looking to advertise to bands in the Aberdeen-area?

There will be limited numbers of the CDs available and once they are gone - they are gone!

I reckon it would be worth going along to this to see someone who is playing the guitar, kick drums and singing all at the same time.
I bet he could pat his head and rub his belly no problems.
Indeed, should be interesting!

See you can get a bunch of that TCP band's older stuff for free from the box widget thing on the website. The Colour Proposal
Indeed you can.
Those are our very early, original demos recorded in our guitarists bedroom on a eBay bought mixer.......very rough around the edges and they aren't particularly beefy but some of that earlier material has now been filled out and are very much staples of our live set together with a bunch of new material as well.
End of last year we entered a "proper" studio and the result was the single "(I Don't Know) Everything You Know" (this is also on the box widget) and there are two more finished tracks from those sessions. We're going back into the studio at the start of August to record our second album.

Who is actually playing this?
I know that looks like a stoopid question but Right Hand Left are advertising themselves as playing it alongside Stanley, Cast of The Capital and The Locals but obviously the above post shows no RHL - neither does the Box Office website?
This may impact on whether I come down to this one..................
Cheers
