  1. The rest of The View's December tour seems to be sold out - but that will be at smaller venues than the AECC probably.

    They are still a popular band in Scotland.

    The line up is maybe just a couple of years out of date actually. The White Lies were really on the up a couple of years ago, but perhaps not so much anymore. I really liked what I heard of their second album, but to be honest, I'm pretty out of touch with what the kids are into these days. I stopped listening to Radio 1 about a year and a half ago, and don't really keep up with what's popular and what's not, so everything I've said is probably complete bollocks...

    While The View's December tour maybe sold out the size of venues they are playing aren't comparable to the AECC at all.

    December 18 - Dunfermline Glen Pavillion's capacity is 600;

    December 19 - O2 ABC Glasgow's capacity is 1,362;

    December 21 - Fat Sam's capacity is around 1,000 depending on which set of google results you look at. That's their home-town;

    Rather bizarrely, they make no mention of the Hogmany gig on their website either.

    The View were being billed as the "headline" act as well weren't they? White Lies have had a bit of a year to forget as well from what I'd read in terms of their second album sales when measured against their first album?

    A real shame for the local acts who were selected if it doesn't go ahead but you've really got to wonder at the thought process of DF with this one in terms of the line-up (i.e. the non-local acts), price and location.

    Also, if they are offering tickets at half-price now, will they be refunding half of the cost to anyone who may have already purchased tickets?

  2. ... to join an ambitious, established, four-piece band with dedicated rehersal facilities.

    Our sound is, essentially, a mix of classic rock with bits of punk and indie thrown in for good measure.

    Interested? Drop me a PM.

  3. Rather looking forward to this one - should be at least one new tune in our set which we've been working on since our Lemon Tree return and we're planning a bit of a whirlwind run through our 'rockier' numbers before we head off on our little mini-tour next week.

    Copies of our debut EP, 'Truth About Stories', will be on sale during the evening at a princely 4.

  4. I will never use the studio of a man who cannot use apostrophes.

    I listened to that 9minute track you put online...it sounds pretty good (I mean, the song is Godawful, but the recording is decent). However, it isn't exactly relevant, because it's a loungey, funk-lite number that will not tick many of the boxes that this forum's users will have.

    Any chance of you putting up a indie rock track or something?

    BTW, dismissing those who disagree with you as 'small-minded' and 'cliquey' is really idiotic. Your tone in this thread is simultaneously confrontational and defensive, which is very unattractive and does not bode well for your man-management and interaction skills. Knowing that we will get along with the engineer is a fundamental part of the recording process, so I suggest you spend a little time working on how to interact with people. Read Carnegie's 'How to Win Friends and Influence People' or something.

    Must spread, etc.

    Bang on the money on both fronts - specifically around the interaction between engineer and band front.

  5. I suspect that the lack of updates on their website is maybe due to the, relatively, recent change in ownership/management. I know that the lassie that ran the place previously was really keen on having bands booked in and recognised that it was an integral part of the Globe's weekend trade.

    I'm not sure if the new management treat it with quite the same level of importance but the place will be booked up til the end of the year by now.

  6. Looking forward to this one hugely now.... EPs have arrived and are looking and sounding good, preperations have been pretty smooth sailing so far and our novelty cover is taking shape!

    Ticket sales have been very, very good so far but, as a last push - if you need then please contact either Gladstone or myself direct.... 5 only!

  7. I can only really echo the sentiments of Christy, AEW and Gladstone.

    No idea how else the promoters can go about this?

    We (State Road Ten) will be sticking ourselves forwards for the showcases but we're acutely aware of the fact that we've done very little since our initial gig last year which has been through our own choice. We've really now been focussing on recording our debut EP, getting things sorted for our own launch night at the Lemon Tree and building a wee tour off the back of the EP as well.

    Like I say though, we're acutely aware that we are, "nobodies" in the Aberdeen music scene at present. I can fully understand why certain artists (such as those listed by Gladstone) would, potentially, be selected to play the festival without the need for going through the audition process.

    All round, it looks extremely promising for the festival as a whole. We'd love to be involved but we'll take our chances on the showcase. We've got a ton of other things to look forward to already this year, the festival itself would simply be the cherry on top of the icing of the cake.

    Oh, and kudos to the organisers for the work they've stuck in this far!

  8. I've got one of these wee babies for sale.

    I've literally plugged it in once since I received it and the unit itself is in extremely good nick.

    Pretty easy to use and comes complete with the instruction manual and power-supply. I may have chucked the original box out but will need to double check that.

    They are now out of production as far as I'm aware but here's a more detailed description of the unit itself:-

    Tascam DP 02 CF

    They were selling for 287.00 new although GAK had them listed at 225.00. Recent e-Bay sales have been in the region of 150.

    Accordingly, looking for 150-ish for the unit. I live and work in the city centre so can arrange for delivery no problems.

    PM for offers or for further deets.
