Happy to announce that the lovely Cara Mitchell will be one of the supports for Jonah and Dave. Be sure to get down early to catch her set! Here's a review of her set when she supported Juan Zelada.
First up, though, was hotly-tipped Aberdeen singer-songwriter Cara Mitchell, who brought along a few supporters of her own and had probably gained a few more by the conclusion of her brief acoustic set. With a voice that simultaneously recalls the likes of Ellie Goulding and Regina Spektor, there’s an affectation to her delivery that might put some people off her particular brand of amiable folk, but it’s a voice that finds unexpected strength amidst the fragility when the songs call for it, and with at least a handful of quality songs and an endearing stage presence to match, it’s easy to see why she’s gathering momentum. 8/10 -
Main support for this show comes from the great dudes in DUKE. Check out their new(ish) video for 'Hopes & High Horses'.

Attend and shareFIGHTS AND FIRES have built a reputation as being one of the most hardworking Punk Rock/Hardcore bands on the scene. Since the release of 'Will It Be My Curse' on Lockjaw Records in spring 2009 the band has been on the road as much as possible. Throughout 2010, Fights and Fires spent a total of 2 months on tour in mainland Europe alone. Combined with several UK tours, 2010 was an extremely hectic year for the band. Keeping DIY at their heart and having a good time is what keeps the band going.
In 2011, Fights and Fires toured the UK, EU and Ireland. With all the hard work that comes with touring, the band has refined their show and it is definitely a spectacle not to be missed this Summer.

“Fall Against Fate are doing exactly what every other tech metal band are doing at the moment...only a thousand times better, this band are incredible and are certainly one to look out for" - Matt Greiner of August Burns Red.Formed in 2009, Fall Against Fate was fixed on making their post-hardcore/tech potion a different breed that people would remember. The band released "If Not For Ourselves" which attracted the interest of people far and wide, and then began reworking their line-up to finally realise the vision original band members Tom Saunders and Lewis Ryder had from the band’s outset.
Since then Fall Against Fate have shared the stage with a vast array of respected bands and played in some impressive venues all over the UK.
Fall Against Fate constantly leave fans more than satisfied with their creative, visually alluring live show, and addictive song structure. They have combined emotional lead melodies, with brutal, technical, heavy and catchy riffs. The results are proving to be sensational, and are being recognised by all listeners willing to give them a chance.
Now, armed with a superior new record and a solid new line-up, Fall Against Fate have returned to the scene a stronger force than ever before. “If Not For Ourselves” the band’s sophomore EP was self released for free on their website
www.fallagainstfate.com and has already received serious interest from listeners worldwide. The band have finally come into their own as a technically gifted and committed 5-piece group, a group who cannot be missed. -

Their efforts have not gone unnoticed earning the band a reputation as a ferocious live act with an ever-increasing fan-base and consensus within the music industry that Polar are ‘ones to watch’ in 2012.

Pretty excited for this. I listened to them when I was a young teen when they released fakesoundofprogress and it's ridiculous it's taken me this long to go see them!

Eight more days until this. Tickets are selling well in advance so really hope we can show the band why Aberdeen is the place to come play!

I'll be impressed if they even make it here. I've never seen a band as unlucky as them. Were robbed in Spain last year and lost something like 6000 euros, and in the US at the moment their tourbus is constantly breaking down and it seems they're being screwed over by the company as well!
I will reiterate they are phenomenal live and 6 is a bargain for this show!
I was reading on a Facebook post they made that when touring the States with Between The Buried & Me, venues are taking a cut of the money they make off of their merch. In some places the cut is quite high too. I find that absolutely shocking and I'm pretty sure it just does not happen in the UK. How can a venue expect to take a cut off of merch they haven't even paid for? That must be dicking them over pretty bad.
I really hope their UK stint is a lot better. I know they will be treated with a lot more respect by promoters and venues, that's for sure.
