  1. maybe there's another touring band playing that we don't know about?

or maybe they want to give ETID a really long set? (something i definitely wouldn't be against)

however if not i can't see the reason in keeping it a 3 band bill?? early curfew maybe because it is midweek? i dunno...

I'd hazard a guess it's possibly because of Balmorhea in Tunnels 2- from what I've read on here the plan is to try and stagger the bands stage times throughout the night so this gig doesn't destroy the somewhat less heavy one next door.

  2. I have never understood the mispronounciation of that word. I pronounce it sand-witch. It's not that fucking difficult.

My all time pet hate actually is folk who pronounce "texts" as "text-es" What the fuck is that all about? Reggi fucking Yates on Radio 1 is the worst. I haven't listened to him for ages but used to have the radio on in the background on a Sunday quite a lot. "Thanks for all your text-es, keep 'em comin'" Fuck off.

    Pronounced like testes?

  3. Yes, I'm a little confused too - I use a Hartke 3500 head into an 8 ohm Ashdown ABM 4x10. This gives me an output of 230W (it's 350W @ 4 ohm). It's at 1 in the house and I've never needed to have it higher than 5 or 6 for stage monitoring purposes during a gig. So that, coupled with the fact that I'm not even using the amp to its full potential means that I'm not concerned about headroom for the moment - it would seem that so far in my (limited) experience I have plenty and therefore no need for a volume knob which goes to 11.

It seems my Ampeg is criticised fairly often online for being a 'quiet' amp, so I'm guessing it's nothing to do with the actual wattage. All I know is that when practising with a band it needs to be cranked way up to be of any use and with the limiter utilised you can forget being heard at all.

  4. pretty much sold on either of the oranges, today im more leaning towards the thunderverb. some guys on the orange forums use them and say they're pretty darn good for bass as well as guitar.

I would love a Thunderverb. Is 200 watts enough power for a bass head though? Presumably it'll be 'louder' since it's a valve amp, but my Ampeg is 350 watts and doesn't really give me much headroom.

  5. In all honesty, the Broch really isn't that rough.
I remember being out in a pub last year on a Saturday night and it kicked off at the table next to us, the table went over and all the glasses shattered everywhere and two guys starting kicking fuck out of each other, nobody even looked round, it's just normal.

    .

    Sounds rough to me.

  6. Come on, 'BJ for Money!' BJ! Money! Cos...cos his initials are B and J...oral sex...NOPE SORRY STILL NOT FUNNY.

I was surprised I didn't get harassed walking around campus this afternoon. I did however get followed along the road by 2 Mormons in a car asking if they can take me home then come in with me for a chat.
