  1. Jim started posting old playlists up on his blog. This is the first one he's posted and it's from his time at Northsound.

The first in a series of random playlists from the past - July 1993

    Category: Music

Spot the band later known as Travis. According the Wikipedia "500 copies of the EP were made and were recently valued at 1000 each."

Also lots of local bands from Aberdeen. Wonder what everybody is doing now?

  2. <gratuitous plug for own gig>There's a show called 'This Show Won't Make You Smarter But It Will Make You Laugh' at the Mercat at 7.30pm</gratuitous plug for own gig>

It should be good, and it's free.

I'm going to be down for the whole festival and probably doing some radio stuff. Let me know if you're coming down to play.

  3. Seem to have had a last minute drop out for this Sunday's show. I'm hoping that one of the bands or solo artists who read aberdeen-music.com might be able to help me out. Looking for someone able to do an acoustic set. Can be done live in the evening or pre-recorded on Sunday afternoon. If you're free let me know - andrew.learmonth@originalfm.com - and if you could include a link to your myspace page, that'd be grand. Cheers. Andy.

  4. This week's Sunday Showcase has a live session from Glasgow indie rockers Sons and Daughters. There's also an exclusive play of the Aberdeen band Kashmir Red's new songs and an interview with The Futureheads.

It's also movie club time again, as Original 106 movie critic Gillian Martin joins Andrew and Producer Dave to talk about the movies and soundtracks of Danny Boyle.

  5. On this week's Sunday Showcase we have sessions with Static In The City and The Hazey Janes. We also have an interview with Drive By Argument.

Duncan Hendry from Aberdeen Performing Arts will be on the show to tell us about the grand re-opening of the Lemon Tree.

We'll also have chat with music pundit Dave Milne.

All between 5pm and 9pm this Sunday on Original 106.

  6. I'm still looking for demos from local bands to play on my show on a Sunday night on Original 106.

Send CDs to Original FM, Craigshaw Road, Aberdeen, AB12 3AR. Alternatively e-mail me at andrew.learmonth@originalfm.com

I also try to have at least one local band on for a session every week, so please send me CDs or add me to your myspace.

    MySpace.com - Sunday Showcase - 26 - Male - Aberdeen and the NE, UK - www.myspace.com/originalsundayshowcase

    Cheers

    Andy
