Good to see Seas, Starry acknowledging their influences in this video: Biffy Clyro (cause they're a great bunch of lads) and Shutterspeed

This sounds cool. I'll have a listen in on Saturday

No offense but that's bollocks. People in the north east are exactly the same as the rest of the world. Its got nothing to do with attitude. Maybe there just isn't a sizeable festival demographic? Also, if rockness relied on selling tickets to locals itd get cancelled every year. Did people outside of Aberdeen know about the festival?
I'm not going to get into a big debate about this, so let's just agree to disagree on the attitude thing.
Wizard Festival sells out most years, though, so there must be some sort of festival demographic up here in the North East. Why they didn't latch onto Northern Lights - which had a much better line-up in my opinion - is anyone's guess.

There's an article on the STV website here:
Aberdeen music festival cancelled due to 'poor' ticket sales | Aberdeen City News | STV Local
It seems that once again Aberdeen has been offered something truly great - something innovative and fun and a massive coup for the city - but the dour North East attitude got in the way. Again. It happens far too often up here: change seems to be met with a Granite-set determination to keep things they way they were.
I really feel for the organisers - you've done a spectacular job, and you should be commended for all the hard work (and money) you've put into this.
P.S. According to the STV site it was Faithless who were supposed to be the mystery guests.

It's also unfortunately restricted to the USA.

I have nothing to add but to agree with what everyone else has written. This is a bloody brilliant track. Well done guys, majorly looking forward to the new EP.
-
Cheers guys. We managed to raise just shy of 300 for the Gambian Schools Trust, so we're really happy. Really appreciate everyone who came down and supported the night.
-
Do they have new stuff or are they just trying to coin in on their singles from 10 years ago that got them a bit popular for a while?
In the intervening years they've release 3 or 4 albums and a couple of EPs. I think they're all pretty great. Think you can download a couple for free from their website. Really looking forward to this gig actually.

Although it's a shame the weekly night is stopping, I'm glad to hear that DHC won't be gone for good. I'm also glad - on a selfish level - that the sporadic events will now be at the weekend, as I work on Thursday nights!

Tonight at The Tunnels, the Gig for Gambia will take place to raise money for the Gambian Schools Trust. Doors open at 6.30pm and the party continues on towards midnight, with six of Aberdeen finest signer-songwriters strutting their stuff onstage:
Steven Winton
Ashley Park
Oliver Richards
Davy Shanks
Craig John Davidson
Foxhunting
Entry costs a fiver, and all the money goes straight to the Gambian Schools Trust.
Hope you can make it along to support this worthy cause.

Thought they were pretty good last time they were up.
I thought they were pretty dreadful last time they were here.

Hello folks. I'm helping my friend Emma organise a charity gig in aid of the Gambian Schools Trust. The night will feature a whole host of the city's top singer-songwriters, and it would be great if you can make it along to support this fantastic cause.

I don't care what everyone says. Hurley was pretty awesome!
Just for reference:
Pinkerton > Blue > Maladroit = Hurley > Green > Red >>>> Dog Shit > Make Believe > Gaddafi > Radditude.
You forgot Death to False Metal

I don't think Weezer are shit at all. Yes, some of their albums are better than others (the first two being the best) but they all have at least one good song on them. The Radiohead cover is admittedly bizarre though.
Actually, they did a great cover of Wheatus' Teenage Dirtbag at Leeds last year...

Just found another STV video, not sure if it's been posted yet...

Pretty sure this is better than the original!
Gave it a spin on my ASR show last week too

I was at this gig...if it was the one where they had to do a shortened set....anyway!.....now i dont normally go for this type of thing but i was a bit blown away by old Stanley, to such a point that ive had one of their tunes - "join hands" i do believe its called in my head since that day, if youve not seen them you should! theyre feking brilliant.
That is indeed the correct gig, glad you enjoyed it!
'Join Hands' has been stuck in my head since I first saw them too... at Wizard Festival in 2009!

I hope this one is made. Will make choosing Christmas presents so much easier.

For anyone who wasn't there, this was filmed by Lee Rosher at the Hercules Moments 2nd Birthday Bash at The Tunnels, March 2011
