  1. Can anyone explain to me just what exactly is going on inside a guitar amp in laymans terms? To me building an amp from scratch means designing it first on pen and paper, not buying a kit (thats like doing a jigsaw puzzle of van gogh and calling yourself a painter)

I know what basic components do (resistors/capacitors/transformers) not entirely sure on what valves are doing, can I relate any of it to transistors? I mean, I know how pretty much how valves work...I just have trouble visualising just what exactly is happening inside an amp....I have only spent the last 15 years trying to understand, but nothing Ive read/seen/heard helps me...

  2. Are you using a PC or laptop? I experienced this on my laptop the other night, setups which used to work were just killling the CPU which was causing all sorts of glitching and hanging....and I can usually run 24 tracks all with a lot of VST's and VSTi's no problem...I downloaded a program called CPU-ID and noticed that the core speed my CPU was running at was not the same speed my CPU is supposed to run at. Vista has some power management features which directly affect the CPU speed, so I had to disable all that (its strange because I never touched any of it). This had happened on another laptop before but I actually must have burned out that processor as the speed step was completely dead on it and could never get it running at a decent speed without overclocking it, which just goosed the whole thing...I'd check your RAM/CPU/Page File etc....run a good defrag MyDefrag v4.3.1 and disable as much windows crap as you can (windows indexing, aero, screensavers etc)...the "ring modulator" sound you mention sounded like my last laptop when i tried to just watch videos....the thing was only running like 380mhz and simply didnt have the CPU capacity to produce audio in realtime....

  3. Aberdeen does not have a very good music scene and I honestly thought people would jump at this. .

What do you mean?!?! Madness are playing!!! Fucking Madness!!! I saw them last night on The Young Ones! Status Quo were here last December...yes..THE QUO!! Who says Aberdeen is always stuck 30 years in the past!!8-)

  4. I don't think it's silly to be considering the minker factor. Aberdeen is rife with em and you'd be pretty ignorant to assume that they aren't gonna turn out in force to an event like this. It disna bother me coz i'm hard n'at ken and I don't really mind but to some it's rightfully a worry. This isn't a huge cosmopolitan city where all tastes and sections of society are catered for, if there's a big event in aberdeen aw cunts will show up. The beer tent at free at the dee was like baby baghdad one year I remember.

Obviously with proper security and staffing it's not a problem but we're talking about an open air festival in a small city in the north of scotland... of course the topic of neds is gonna crop up.

They should issue a statement like this...

BBC News - Neds 'not welcome' at T in the Park festival

  5. Really really really really really really hope this is just to get a reaction.

It's for a weekend. You can work around it. Seaton Park is not the only patch of ground in that area, and your dog's not going to die if you walk it on the pavements instead. Get a grip man.

Do you people need a map to find the couch in your living room? I was simply trying to ask what the setup is going to be? I don't have a fucking dog. I just want to know how easy it will be to hurl glass bottles of piss into the crowd ldo.

  6. I won't better any counter to emergency72's ridiculous arguments on here already, but can I just point out this sentence again?

That's a lol. I'm Harry Potter's anaemic, sexually abused cousin. I'm not remotely tough, and I feel pretty safe most of the time in Aberdeen.

It's not exactly early-90s Compton is it?

    Goddamn.

    Son of a bitch.

    Shoo.

type that sentence into youtube....and enjoy

  7. Is it, though? Is it actually interesting? It's 100% expected, because the majority of people on this website are not racist or xenophobic bigots like yourself.

It certainly got me out my comfort zone so yes it is interesting....you were talking about sweeping generalisations...so why is anyone who dares questions the current situation branded racist or xenophobic? The means the only people who dare discuss this are the clueless racist xenophobic types....while everyone else is too afraid to speak their mind. I mean I know if someone from the BNP/NF came spouting their bonehead shite on here I'd be the first throwing all the cliches of the day at them "you'd be first against the wall ya wankers" etc....hardly ground breaking. This all reminds me of Father Ted now...

  8. I set up a home game for aberdeen music if you want to play a tourney tonight let me know

    The ID is 407004

The invitation code is the name of the person who started aberdeen music as one word and lower case...shouldn't be too hard to work out...providing I got it right....

anyone up for a $10-$20 winner takes all freezeout?

  9. you do realise I was being sarcastic to show how remarkably flawed your argument is, right? As has already been said many times, you will always get prejudice in every society regardless of where you live. Every country has its share of bigots. This is a basic fact of life and just because you have happened to run in to some bigots from Eastern Europe does not mean that every single person from there is racist.

I know you think you were being sarcastic, but deep down, you know it is the truth. And every day I speak to people from all over the world who enquire about the sudden influx of Poles in Aberdeen....the first thing I always hear is "I hear they are all very racist" "I hear they treat their women very bad"....sweep generalisations are what make life great
