I confess...I wish the vast majority of Polish, Lithuanian, Russian, whatevers would just fuck off. Aberdeen was shit enough before. I work in a global company and come in contact with all cultures/ethnicity etc everyday. and would welcome the majority of people I work with with open arms...but seriously...what the fuck is going on...Poland can't be that bad that Printfield or Logie or Tillydrone seem like exotic dream getaways?!

This maybe doesn't belong in "musical" discussion as its not really music, but is anyone interested in harsh noise/power electronics type stuff? (like Sickness, Prurient, Bizarre Uproar..etc) Am thinking of organising a low key gig performing this sort of aural butchery which would be free to attend for anyone interested in premature deafness...just wanted to know if anyone would turn up...practiced 3 hours of this at cap toms on saturday and it went pretty well, its a great sized place for it, I don't know what the bands in the adjacent rooms must have thought...but would be good to share our noise with others...does anyone else make noise and want to perform aswell?

This feature isn't in Cubase...its always a good idea to save your projects with plug ins disabled for this reason. But you can get around it by opening the cubase log file (cubaseSX.log or something) and finding which plug in was causing the problem. Uninstall plug in, open file, disable the plug in, save it and then reinstall plug in. Should be able to get it back from there.

Ace, will be spending a lot of time reading that...Its surprised me aswell when the odd one liner has found its way back into an episode that was never originally aired in the UK (and I knew all these episodes word for word, I remember watching it on cable when it first aired) Some of the BBC cuts just kill the episodes..one of the funniest jokes ever was flanders trimming his mustache and thanking Homer then homer goes "you dirty bast..." and a quick change to a shot of him dropping money in the swear jar. Im sure there are lots of other political cuts that just ruin episodes aswell (princess Di, twin towers etc.)

They should ditch all the commercial CD's and stick to 2nd hand/independents....move to smaller premises, sack everyone under 35, ban all instore appearances, charge anyone who wants to "listen" to a record (this is worth a few million surely with those knobs who take 90 12"s to the counter and spend 9 hours listening to them before deciding theres nothing worthwhile)...stock tshirts in sizes larger than XXXXS...stop playing dance/techno over the stereo (or hipster shit, whatever is in just now)...and if all else fails..set up a pirating operation in the basement, producing bootlegs of commercial cd's and profit big time on the sales!! It worked in russia...

It's hate move of the pick up selector and change of jack i don't like mainly. The maple neck is something i think just doesn't suit some guitars. Epiphone had a les paul with a maple neck too which i didn't like. I think i might be easier on it if it had the traditional tortoise shell that jazzmasters are most often paired with. I love jazzmasters and love the most recent squires so i'm sure it will be lovely to play:)

+1 on the maple necks....I have never liked them on any guitars to be honest, but yeah there are some which it just doesn't go with...it ruins those squiers, and as for gibsons...

All the D16 plug ins are amazing, especially Devastator and Toraverb, they have some new ones (phaser and chorus) I havent tried yet but if they are good as the others they should be great. The Abbey Road plug ins are awesome (espcially the EQ boxes) and for drums, can't beat BFD.

You can use some crappy karaoke mics on your toms, unless you're recording a drummer who plays a lot of tribal stuff there are only going to be the odd time the toms are needed, make a good recording of the toms using the condesor mics and a spot mic with the 57 then use drumagog or similar to replace the badly recorded karaoke mic toms. TBH...if you place your condensor mics to record the whole kit as opposed to as overheads, you won't even need a mic on the toms, or on the snare...the fewer the mics the better, especially for demos...look out for a free Transient Designer plugin that you can google, it should be able to craft the kick and snare channels into tighter sounding hits that will cut through more and just them to emphasise what was already recorded by the condensors...
