  1. I'm sure some people find it useful. The idea doesn't seem terrible and if it means people maybe persevere a bit longer than they might have if they heard all the horrible sounds they were really making then it seems ok to me.

I think keyboard to say a digital piano, after playing both I find theres not much of a leap physically between the two. Bit more graft required to sound the notes and the key size (scale?) changes slightly.

Id dare say a glorified guitar hero controller to a real guitar is quite different. Learning guitar has been simplified to the point where if you cant play basic stuff after a few weeks with a chord book. You need to have a good hard look at yourself and maybe face the fact that youre drummer material.

IMO it wouldnt make a good learning tool. However if it delivers on the spec is says on the site I think it would make a great creative tool for guitarists. God knows how many hours ive spent transposing riffs and chords onto keyboard. Or having to use a keyboard to get the rhythm right/lose that programmed feel.

  2. Anything that gets people playing a guitar is a good thing. Electronic keyboards have been doing the built in tutorial that doesn't sound wrong notes for years, this is just a natural progression.

Do you know anyone who's actually taught themselves to a decent level using those keyboards?

Id imagine learning the shapes on the midi then picking up a real guitar. Only to find its heavy, the strings dig into your skin and it doesnt attract women like promised. Would be quite the let down.

Atleast with keyboard you know before hand you aint getting any.

  3. Looks cheap, is cheap, probably annoying.

I dont think It could be trusted live. Also I know I wouldnt get any points from waving it at the sluts.

Like said, Ill wait for a reliable review first before I think about purchasing it. Im guessing it'll be a nightmare to get it the majority of its features to work with your DAW.

  4. I dont believe in just going out, looking through the argos catalogue and buying some souless crap straight off the shelf. I like the idea of spending hours making something with someone in mind.

Not being any good at anything creative I spliced rope into all manner of shapes. Although they looked good they had no practical use what so ever.

When I handed the wrapped up bundle I told them how I spent hours at it, how it caused my nails to split and skin to crack. They would look me in the eye and be like 'oh its lovely, thanks'. None of them had the heart to tell me it was total sh*te.

    PM for cheap splicing lessons.

  5. You'd be surprised how many of the iphones apps are now on andriod. Why dont you look for the apps youre after, I bet theyre on the market (probably for free aswel).

Plus you dont need itunes, can watch flash animations, can personalise it in any way you want.

Ive had time with them both and imo the andriod wins. Go down to a phone shop and try out a sony ericson xperia's. For 250 you could buy a brand new pro droid loaded phone and have enough change left to buy a decent sledge.

  6. Im after an Ipod but dont like the idea of buying one new.

Im not particularly fussed which generation/size it is, or the condition. As long as it plays and the screen is readable ill be happy.

I live in the city centre, open to offers.

  7. Has anyone experienced the rouge ''piper'' thats busking infront of the statue on Union street? My god, its something else. I've never really noticed before as Ive rocked by him with my Ipod blaring. Today I got to hear it in all its wonder and Its awful.

Ive nothing against buskers but due to this guys location and weapon of choice. He's able to broadcast to far reaches. Further than what I believe is socially acceptable. I was walking up from Belmont and I could hear him as I turned the corner onto Union.

As I strolled by I noticed that he had sheet music, a glazed over look in his eyes and was wearing a half assed Scottish attire. I stood for a minute watching him turn purple from the effort he was putting into creating this noise.

This guys something else and its embarrassing. Could one of you have a word or atleast get a picture?

Also if anyones selling an Ipod PM me.

  8. Yes the bus service does suck and its expensive. But is it more expensive than buying, insuring and taxing a car? Add on top running costs and after all that it may even breakdown.

Im happy freezing my ass off at the bus stop. Nothing like listening to my Ipod while trying to avoid eye contact with strangers.

    Its how I roll.

  9. From what I see, this site is just a collection of regulars who more than often take the piss out of threads which kills them where they stand. Already this threads heading off rail and to its demise. I think the activity is going downhill due to there being other big music sites which are superior in near every way. Cant really compete, the main/only plus this site has is its local to Aberdeen.

  10. Did you bother to have a look upstairs at all? We sell other things as well as musical instruments.

There is also maybe a chance you missed better things that were bought this morning.

Ill come past again on Tuesday, hopefully you're still open when I pass by. Maybe you could include some of the Blackstar pedals on sale?

  11. Alright im heading over right now for a spy.

    EDIT:

Well, no wonder you wouldnt say what was in the sale! Its pretty much a drum kit, a few hard to sell guitars and books.

Not worthly of the massive signs plastered on the shop window imo. I bet theres been a few like me who have seen the signs, wondered in with hopes of getting something good at 'half its original value' and felt nothing but dissapointment at whats on offer.

If anyone, like me, is looking for discounted goods GAK are having a ex-demo sale.
