Wee lassie Fae Banff
The recurring theme here seems to be "good luck to her".
I totally agree. Good on her...
...but the song is diabolical. I heard it yonks ago driving back to Aberdeen late at night. I wanted to crash the car - it was that bad.
The sentiment is kinda sweet, about a young lass who's lamenting over historical events and eras that she's missed. but the delivery is rank.
It's almost Kindergarten stuff, with the stomp-along rythym.
Still, she's on the radio, I'm unlikey to be on it again...so nuts to me

Lemming Tree

Hi,
I recognised the song from the first bar - so their was no need to translate - the lyrics are from the studio version.
I don't recognise the other song, so it'll take longer.

Ps - who's Pete?

It's the first song on the above link.

World Became The World
Suitbly translated...
One of the most beautiful songs no-one knows.....
The World Became the World
Outside my window in the courtyard of the world
The gentle rain was falling.
No breath of wind, no cry of beast or bird
Too quiet, too still, I turned ...
To see the raindrops like a thousand poet's words
splash their circles on the stones,
And seem to wash over everything with love
And for a moment the courtyard heard.
Until the sun came bursting through the clouds
Hung up his rainbows in the sky
And with a laugh of flames said, "Now go chase the gold"
And the world became the world ...
Now we're all travellers some seekers
and some sought Who leave the courtyard to be caught
In nets of self, damned certainty and choice;
But do you believe our voice?
You ... you've got what must belong to me,
I need! I'll bleed for more possessions.
You ... you've got no right to disagree
Bow! Kneel! Or fear my aggresions.
Thank God if sometimes your oyster
holds a pearl When the world remains the world ...
Howazt
I'll do the rest later...
....and if the site rules allow, I'll send you an MP3 of the studio version

I like nickelback.
And I love creed.
And I'm proud
I don't care if they are repetitive or whatever' date=' I enjoy listening to their music. And that's that. It's an opinion so I'm allowed to have it [/quote']
Absolutely
-
from the BBC just the noo!
holy toot
Just 65 as well.
Shame.

Are nickelback shite? Actually that point is not in debate. But are they also unoriginal repetitive shite? Listen to this mp3 (if you havent already) of two nickelback songs being played simultaniously' date=' one on the left channel and the other on the right and make up your own mind... [url']http://styleboost.com/Dbase/goto_news.asp?id=422
Yes - turgid, cliched shite of the highest order...and that mullet

Nomenclature
you think 'be your own pet' is a good name? jeezo. it's got to be one of the worst names i've ever heard.the only name on that list i'd disagree with is the yeah yeah yeah's.
the band myself and some others are trying to form are currently at the naming stage and there's been some stinkers suggested so far. my greatest fear is that we'll end up just picking the first one no one hates and being stuck with a dodgy name cause no one can be bothered anymore.
It's a nightmare.
The first band I was ever involved with back in 19?? argued the toss over names and the three our dictatorial "leader" came up with were...brace yourselves...
Spearhead
Arrowhead
August
Fer f*cks sake !
I left immediately taking most of the kit with me and that was the end of that.
Mostly Autumn - eats shit as well. Decent proggie band, festering minge of a name.

Spooky - I downloaded some of their stuff only last night. Didn't think anyone else had heard of them!!!
Did you know that they were named after the bakery that sponsored them.

The "First Gig In Aberdeen" thread got me thinking about my first major gig.....AC/DC at an open-air festival at the Howard Park in Kilmarnock, back in '75. I was a bit too young to really appreciate it though.
Then I thought of my older sisters first gig and it was "The Sweet" at the Grand Hall in Killie back, early '73.
This gig has minor historical significance, coz there was a HUGE riot, owing to Sweet's abysmal performance and Andy Stewart (I think) got hit with a bottle.
The result of all this was the glam classic..."Ballroom Blitz".
I remember sis pointing out an interview with the band in Melody Maker or something and one of them saying that the tour had gone well, but some "Toughs" (great word!) had given them a hard time in Kilmarnock and that the song was written about the gig.
I was well pleased!!!
Anyone else got any gig-related trivia !!!!!!

I'd kill for 1% of that guys talent.

Tele
Aye, seems to be the "guitar of choice" for many of the current acts/bands.
I'm looking for one myself to complete "The Holy Trinity of Rock" - Les Paul, Strat & Tele

ideal! i take it you started in front of a screen and moved up to stand behind people sitting in front of screens cos 15 years of coding would be enough to make anyone want to die
/x
I hear that bro'
Yes, I started as a code monkey, then developed a balanced-tree multi-user database engine and API for those who didn't want to spend a fortune on Ingres & Oracle, got some sweet contracts on that back of it and now I'm a pen-pusher so far removed from the technology that I need to get Internal Services to boot up my laptop for me
Shamefully, I was also one of the Glasgow Barras "distributors" of ST & Amiga software in the 80's - ah, the good old days. They founded FAST especially for us. I got out long before it got ugly, although I was the best-fed and best-heeled student at Uni for a while The po-faced head of department had 15-year-old Vauxhall Viva, I had a new XR3i - it really used to piss him off "How can you afford that on your grant??"
Oh, I'm all misty-eyed with nostalgia and it's getting me nae nearer tae ma Epi.

Three pup Les Paul's aren't for everyone though' date=' the middle pup ads little tonally and can get in the way of picking.[/quote']
I'm so ham-fisted in the way I pick that the fecking HEADSTOCK could get in the way

I'm in IT Management (software development) and have been for 15+ years (old fart) - I got in while it was red hot and I contracted for years. Spent some time abroad too.

Each....
While I can totally see the desire to save the Gibson for special ocassions' date=' my own philosophy is this - life's too short to play an Epiphone when you have a real Gibson! My guitars cost me a fortune and I love and cherish them and do my best to keep them immaculate, but ultimately they are made to be played. It hurts when you get the first ding, but you get over it![/quote']
Each to his/her own - that's my philosophy (except when I'm gobshiting about chavs/soaps/reality tv/game shows/manufactured chart acts and anything else that gets up ma hooter - then I get all obnoxious and opinionated ).
I want an Epi for the same reasons I wear old jeans when gardening rather than ruin my expensive Diesels (any other members got their own personalised brand of kex )...or like the older Impreza I bought for the winter, so I didn't f*** up my Boxster o_O.
For me, some things are meant to be looked after and others are more dispensable

Believe me' date=' if I was having a conversation with you in a bar, unlikely though that would be, I would most definitely reiterate everything I've posted on here to your face.
I'm not one of those aberdeen-music.com people who purposefully say things to provoke a reaction. I honestly said what I thought. AGAIN, sorry if this causes offence to people. I wasn't directly having a go at you, because I know tonnes of posters have the same opinions as you.[/quote']
Hey, love and peace
Just a bit of fun debate.
ps (I AM a total cock at times - but I'm not a bad guy)
Take care.

I'm looking for a decent Epiphone Les Paul to use for practice.
I've been playing a Strat for years and have recently bought a Les Paul Standard which I intend to keep in mint condition and only use for recording and special gigs.
Therefore, in order to get use to the difference (particularly the weight and balance o_O ), I'm looking for a half-decent Epi for practicing & jamming.
I'm out of town from tonight, but have access to the 'Net, so if anyone is looking to sell within the next 10 days or so, then please drop me a PM.
Ta.

Vocals
Sounds OK, some cool riffage in there but on my set-up at least, the vocals are drowing everyting else out and like someone else pointed out, the snare is non existent (like I say on my set up at least).
Good work tho'
Keep it up.
