  1. I think that if band puts maximum effort into recording a demo it can sound good. You dont have to fork out and spend heaps getting into a recording studio, I have heard demo's done on four tracks which sound fine, if the band has spent time trying to get the sound right.

It does seem to me that a lot of bands just rush the recording demo's stage and this lead to what i would term, very rough sounding stuff.

  2. I thought Union Of Knives were definetly different. Persoanlly they were not really my thing, someone told me they were a bit like NIN...but I couldnt see the resemblence. Musically they were excellent, obviously were good at what they do...but just not my personal taste. Also the sound in Tunnels was far too loud! I am not meaning to sound like an old woos but I felt like I was going to pass out at one point, i think when kordoba were on as the vibrations were going right through me. The sound was also too high when lunar played as well.

  3. Righteo

If anyone wants tickets for 3 quid instead of paying a fiver on the door give me a shout. We can arrange to get tickets to yourselves before the gig tomorrow, even if it invloves meeting u outside tunnels to give u it.

If anyone is interested email me on garronowen@yahoo.co.uk, same for yahoo messenger.

U can also get tickets like this off the other bands. Just so I dont get into trouble for advertising ticket sales from just one band!

  4. Milner I posted a link to there website in my reply before. Think they have like 6 tracks you can listen to on there website. Sound pretty good...in my op. Lol you prob do, do a better blink 182 I remember seeing them at the Leeds festivel about 4-5 yrs back and they struggled to play some of there songs because supposedly the rifts were 'very difficult' to play and they forgot the words to 2 of there songs half way through them...not v professional...

  5. I have to say from the demo's on there website, Stanley sound really good. I agree with milner how can drums be too tight???

It does depend whether you like that style of music..but hey i like the sound of them, looking forward to seeing them tomorrow.

  6. It may of come from a newspaper but the newspapers freedom of speech has the backing of the Danish Prime Minister and most other non middle eastern countries. This problem was avoidable but why avoid it? Are people not allowed an opinion?

Of course people are allowed to voice there opinions...but Islam is the most popular religion in the world, while all others seem in decline. Islam is a religion, which is influening world politics and the policy of whole countries. These extremist nut jobs are trying to find an excuse to rally as many of th emuslim world together, so it becomes a war against the west, a war of ideology. All I am saying is we should bear this in mind in the future. There is no point in alienating ppl for the sake of a laugh. Yes they are over reacting but, they dont thin they are. They think this is some sort of conspiracy to belittle Islam. Iwould be interested to hear an Islamic persons point of view if there are any who visit this forum???

I think its one big misunderstanding. They cant understand why we in the west would find depictions of there prophet funny, while we cant understand why they dont find it funny and take it so seriously. I think this is somethign which needs to be worke don. We need to bridge this gap, to help make the world a brighter palce.

  7. Fair point but

Islamic law, based on clerics' interpretation of the Quran and the sayings of the prophet, forbids depictions of the Prophet Muhammad and other major religious figures even positive ones to prevent idolatry. Shiite Muslim clerics differ in that they allow images of their greatest saint, Ali, the prophet's son-in-law, though not Muhammad.

Its a fundamental part of there religion. Of course it going to annoy them. And I agree with you as well that it is being used, as another excuse to preach anti western sentiments.

  8. While people from other faiths i.e. Christianity' date=' Hinduism etc have had the piss taken in the press, they may of been offended but have not reacted like this. It is not the cartoonists fault if certain Islamic people cant handle others questioning their religion and have to take draconian reactions. Boohoo, your offended.

Its not before time that, like any other religion, people have questioned/taken the piss out of its viability.[/quote']

Yeah but thats fair enough if its people from that country/religion who are doing the piss taking but its a bloody Danish Newspaper.....

Islam is tied up into the whole almost Nationalistic identity of these countries. It a bit like the Danes slagging Scotland off, in the eyes of some of these Islamists. I just dont think there was any need for it really. Yeah i agree its been blown out of proportion, no sane person can argue against that...my point is this was entirly avoidable.

  9. You have got to remeber where these countries are...they dont lookat things in the same light as us. Its all very well saying were free thinking and Human...but these countries are very very serious when it comes to there religion...its a bit like Israel claiming they have a right to be int he holy land because it was gifted to them by god. Israel will defend that right no matter what, including having a scorched earth policy with there nukes. The point is, why risk it?

  10. I would say it perhaps was a stupid thing to have done. Everyone knows the trouble we are having in the world with Islamic Extremists, this has just fallen right into the hands of these organisations who are seeking to recruit more followers. ITs pointless and should not have happened, a giant can of woop ass trouble has been opened just because some paper thought it would be amusing. A bit of common sense would not go a stray. Fair enough, in the West we dont take things so seriously, but surely this Danish paper knew it was going to upset and insult Islam by publishing them.

  11. I personally would never call a band shit....even if I did think they were terrible, its just a rude comment. I would say sry that wasent my thing or something like that. In my opinion, anyone who has the balls to stand on stage and play to people deserves some respect and they will have had to put effort into preparing songs etc...

Mind you If I thought they were awful I would not recommend them....

  12. You have to also remeber that the competition was judged by Entertainment Lawyer Lesley Peterson, PRS Executive and A&R Andy Ellis, Radio 2 Representatives and Musicians Union Representative Dave Acasi as well as Steve Levine. You could argue that the fact that at least these guys have now heard of the band...that this goes towards announcing themselves on the national stage, they are some pretty influential guys.

BTW the link (if you dont believe me about this competition) is here which explains what it was about etc: - http://members.tripod.com/higgs_connection/

note however the idiots put the wrong link in...it goes to some random band based in london with the same name! Tubes

  13. Lunar have asked me to take off the great escape...basically because they dont think the recording is very good, nor do they think it is there best song. Doh I knew I should have asked them first before I put it up for them.

Anyway instead they have asked me to put up a sample of one of the songs they did with Steve levine when they won this demo to limo thingy. Unfortunatly because the BBC own the recording, it can only be a sample at this stage, waiting to find out what happens etc when it is put to them.

    Here's the link again: -

Oh note to Stripey, I know you wont like this so dont bother filling this thread with more....they are totally crap, this is rubbish, pointless shit etc etc.

    Enjoy.
