  1. I knew there was a reason why we are reviled musically around the world, and there it is. Even the Welsh kick our arse at the music thing, if it wasn't for literature we'd be totally philistinic troglodytes.

Ooh, I feel much better for that.

I'd love to do the 'Slacker' tour of Austin, and also confirm for myself that Texan Liberals exist, but other than that, past coverage I've seen and read makes it look like hipster douchebag hell. Worse, they are all trying to be noticed, thus are playing up, *shudders*.

Scotland does very well with for the size of our country regarding quality, and vairied, mucial output.

Austin is like n lovely oasis of Liberalism in a Texan desert of Republican shit.

I love it when folk bang on about "hipster, douchebags...hell" etc.

Then how quickly their opinion will change when they get their invite and suddenly they're all up for supping the free beers at Vice magazines party

So our first LET IT BLEED party of 2010 kicks off with none other than RITON @ ORIGIN.

Riton is widely regarded as one of the true kick starters of the electro/electroclash/electro house scene which has taken over the world in recent years.

Originally singed by Mark Rae to Grand Central Records. He has since gone on to form one half of Gucci Soundsystem, become a member of Soulwaxs side project Die Verboten, released the album Eine Kleine Nacht Musik on Modular Records and masterminded 100s of floor filling remixes.

Hailed as the Producers Producer by the likes of Laurent Garnier, Trevor Jackson, Richard Dorfmeister and Erol Alkan, he has been behind some of the hottest club nights in London and his DJ talents are in demand globally.

Over the last 12 months or so, you've probably shaken your rump to his reworkings of Holy Fuck, Hercules & Love Affair, In Flagranti, Wolfmother, Primary 1, Chromeo, and Kid Sister. Before that, the likes of Robbie Williams, Run DMC and Mylo have all benefited from Ritons magic touch. His diary is already busy for 2010 - expect to see and hear a whole lot more of him this year, starting here at LET IT BLEED.

  4. I think if you do get accepted the Musicians Union also help funding of some sorts. Remeber acts like Paolo Nutini, Jyrojets andThe Fratellis (i think) got help in the past.

Think they cover your travelling costs etc. Well i know they have for the past few years. I dont think the entry is that difficult. You could also submit your details via Sonicbids.

Scottish Arts are the ones who'll help you out with funding. Helping cover travel, Visa and accom costs.

There was a big fuss kicked off a few years back when Paolo and Fratellis etc received basically tax payers money to go to SXSW when they had mega major label deals and were not exactly short of a bob or two.

  5. For a band to get an invite they need to well, apply obviously...but have a decent "story" behind them ie have some press (including some international press otherwise you wont get a visa), released a tune or two, played a few gigs (on at least a national level, a couple of gigs in Drummonds wont do unfort) etc.

Having an agent, a label or management helps a lot as does being in a potential position to launch internationally.

The more you have of these things you have going for you, the more likely you are to receive an invite.

DECEMEBER 20TH @ SNAFU - LET IT BLEED XMAS SPECIAL

    SWITCH

    (MAD DECENT, DUBSIDED, MAJOR LAZER)

    This man really needs no introduction...but just incase, here's one anyway;

Switch is one of the biggest, ground breaking, writer, producer and remixers of beat driven music in recent years.

He has written and produced for the likes of MIA, AMANDA BLANK and SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO.

Is one half of MAJOR LAZER ...the other half being non other than DIPLO.

Remixer of huge hits by the Chemical Brothers, Bassment Jaxx, Florence and the Machine, Bjork, P Diddy, Klaxons, Armen Van Helden, Underworld, Kelis and Santigold.

Could go on, but I think you get the idea - he's kinda a big deal.

This will round off our year of LET IT BLEED parties which has seen the likes of Aeroplane, The Bloody Beetroots, Pat Mahoney, Carl Craig, DJ Mehdi, Brodinski, Steve Aoki etc grace our stage and rock the crowd.

Having SWITCH to headline will be a fitting way to see our last LET IT BLEED party of 2009 go out with a bang.
