? LET IT BLEED HALLOWEEN SPECIAL @ THE FORUM ?

    DJ MEHDI

    (ED BANGER RECORDS)

Well, well, well where to start with DJ Mehdi?? From the beginning perhaps?

Here we go... he was born in the northwestern suburbs of Paris, where he grew up big and strong. In his early 20s, he quickly became one of French underground hip hops premier producers and DJs. Since then he has gone on to push the boundaries of traditional forms of beat driven music by mixing hip hop, disco and electro music; creating whole new forms which have gone on to take over the dance floors and stereos of the world.

Collaborations with notable artists such as Daft Punk, Cassius, MC Solaar, Timbaland, Busta Rhymes and Chromeo, show why he has gone on to become a global phenomenon.

Signed to Ed Banger Records (arguably one of the worlds hottest labels) and working alongside label mates Justice and Busy P, he has brought his own flavor of Disco/hip hop/electro to the world wide masses with tracks such as I am Somebody and Pocket Piano not forgetting his album Lucky Boy.

He is in incredible demand for his DJ talents and has played to packed out crowds in pretty much all the hottest clubs around the globe. In his own words:

I like to be the DJ, I love it so much. I love to try new things. You would never get into this business to be bored, or you would hope not. I love to rock a crowd

We are so fortunate to have him play in Aberdeen for this Halloween special. Without doubt, its going to be one of the best nights of the year.

  2. But surely that would requirement a huge level of investment in shit to tart the place up (ala Liverpool)? Just what we need with a 50million dept tag (though it would bring some cash in).

Anyone else feel sick to the core when they saw the massive, 2-storey council stand at Offshore Europe? It was full of pissed up council workers, stuffing their faces with sandwiches. What the fuck they were doing there (and shelling out to be in one of the most prominant areas) is beyond me... my estimate is that the stand would have cost around 75k for the week. If anyone could confirm a figure, that'd be epic.

It wasn't a very good PR move, the general attitude from people I spoke to was, "What the fuck are they doing here with a massive stand... waste of money.... debt... etc etc"

75k and then some! I know for a fact Exxons Stand cost 120k for the stand ONLY!!

Add rental, staff, printing etc etc ....KER-CHING!!!!!!!

"What the fuck are they doing here with a massive stand" - Exactly.

Stonehavens finest take guitar music back to basics in the best possible way. Suckers for late 80's and early 90's alt rock - Hsker D, Dinosaur Jr, Sonic Youth - and anything with a strong hook like Ray Charles and The Jackson 5. Their songs are filled with sunny melodies, turbocharged guitars, charisma and wit.

Tours with Hot Club De Paris and Dananananaykroyd, a recent Radio 1 Live Maida Vale session, upcoming tours with Los Campesinos and Good Shoes, great press, even better tunes... 2009 is giving Stonehaven something else to shout about other than an outdoor pool and battered mars bars.

Described as a unique blend of sensual and textural elation, layer upon layer of electronics throbbing and evaporating simultaneously. This Glaswegian 4 piece are possibly the UKs best kept secret. Anyone they honor with letting hear a song or, even better, play a gig in front of automatically falls in love with them. So brilliant are their creations they seem to feel the need to keep it to themselves. The releases they have made eg Va Va Va (on Optioms Oscarr label) are fawned all over and receive great critical acclaim.

With singer Geralds falsetto notes, dance floor friendly beats, wonderful complex melodies, glorious harmonies and there synth geek knob turned up to 11! Listening to them is like finding buried treasure.

DJs till 3am - Steven Milne and Let It Bleed residents

Expect: Bloody Beetroots to Bruce Springsteen. Erol to Elvis.

    DONT NOT DANCE
