obfuscate
Clearly Bonnie Bob taught you something, ie that word! He once used the phrase "the more famous of the 2 bands I was in", but a Google search revealed nothing but an illustrious career in the field of linguistics
Didn't Shaun come up with name? I got the impression that he did, which would make his sidelining a tad unfair. Anyway, it's the worst thing about The Welles

not I!
You nonce, you're in my Essentials of Language class, are you not? Has Robert McCall Millar taught you nothing? "not me"
-
Those who pay attention to my posts (hello mum!) will know that I don't believe in the idea of the rock album. However, there have been a few which have struck me as having genuine artistic merit, so here they are:
1, Head Over Heels - Cocteau Twins
2, All is Dream - Mercury Rev
3, The Holy Bible - Manic Street Preachers
4, Leaves Turn Inside You - Unwound
5, Strange Times - The Chameleons
6, Trans-Europe Express - Kraftwerk
7, Mellon Collie and Infinte Sadness - Smashing Pumpkins
8, In A Pagan Place - The Waterboys
9, Volunteers - Jefferson Airplane
10, The Red Thread - Arab Strap

Either:
"She wears denim wherever she goes, says she's going to get some records by the Status Quo, oh yeah" (The Concept - Teenage Fanclub)
or
"I wore my fringe like Roger McGuinn's, I was hoping to impress. So frightfully camp, it made you laugh, tomorrow I'll buy myself a dress" (Consolation Prize - Orange Juice)
-
people who say "I'm wanting to" instead of "I want to" irritate the hell out of me.
Sounds like an example of urban Scots vernacular. It's use shouldn't be discouraged
-
I've listened to The Chameleons ever since the acoustic version of Soul In Isolation was included on an Uncut free CD many years ago, although Strange Times is the only album I have. What I've heard from their newer albums (Indiana and Anyone Alive) has been disappointing
-
In fact I think I'll listen to it now. After Seafood though
Good man' date=' on two counts
Other than their use of regional accents in singing (which is at least better than faux-american accents) Bloc Party are untouchable. They have shown themselves to be willing to expand on the "angular" template and play pop songs with an ethereal and beautiful quality to them. But then maybe it's the fact they play pop songs at all, that you're so against
Franz Ferdinand, for their part, have tight grooves, perfect melodies and unusual song structures, as well as a bit of style. What more do you want! Of course, Project Ven Hell would rather they had ten minutes of noise instead, something you [i']really have to listen to
-
At least the best band ever are in at No.75. Thought The Jam would be in there, considering their numerous no.1 singles
-
'huzzah' is another one.
Fucking stop it
I use "Hussar" instead, but people always think I'm talking about the Austro-Hungarian cavalry maestros
-
Why'd you assume I went down on my own anyways?
Didn't assume, mistakenly guessed from the use of the pronoun "I" rather than "we" in your detailed account. Thought perhaps you were in the Central Belt anyway, and decided to go along. Further credit to you for making the special effort to go down

dedalus are great
They may yet be, but thank God they moved on from that phase Dave describes. Cripes
-
Decades indeed, the ultimate Joy Division song, in every sense of the word
-
Noticed quite a few mentions of 'Ceremony' by New Order. Great tune! Am I right in saying that Ian Curtis penned this' date=' or was this solely New Order's? Think it was the former.[/quote']
It was written by the band before the death of Ian Curtis, and a live version of it can be heard on the Joy Division album "Still". Alas, Joy Division never recorded a studio version of it
-
cool' date=' wish you were here would have probaly been the next one i got if i buy another soon, i've heard good htings about it form other people too.[/quote']
DON'T! Buy Saucerful of Secrets, Piper at the Gates of Dawn, Ummagumma, or the Live At Pompei DVD instead. Anything over which Roger Waters had creative control is worthless, especially Dark Side.
-
All credit to you for attending, especially on your own, and for the feedback. Are you doing it for the love, or are you in an official capacity of some sort?
-
Almost that whole album is pish.
Come on, you like Lovesong and Lullaby, and you must like the title track. As for this Untitled one, I haven't heard it
-
Show a bit of consideration! Neighbours has it's own thread, for your nudge-nudge-wink-winking admiration
I thought Dave was an integral part of Dedalus, and it was his tastes that had influenced the new post-rock direction, but that doesn't seem to be the case, which means that his leaving won't mean the end of the post-rock!
But his own stuff should be interesting
-
I am sold on that one!
-
I hate the Foos, but I bought There Is Nothing Left To Lose (many years syne) solely because of it's front cover. There are those in my circle who remember me proclaiming the FF tattooed on the back of a neck to be "militant"
-
I'm suprised. I guess i'll probably say Interpol' date=' although i do like the Stellastarr* one.[/quote']
Well, it was that or Interpol, and the one on Turn on the Bright Lights is really just an introduction, fairly pointless if you take it out of context

Music is math. An emotive delivery or an honestly written song may provide catharisis for the artist, but it ignores the experience of the listener. It takes thought to create a melody to adequately seduce a listener, and even more thought to imagine a poetic abstraction that will reward the listener for listening, and provide a gift along with the seduction
Witness Siouxie and The Banshees and Joy Division for examples, the former for songs written subjectively, and the latter for songs that are delivered in a cold fashion, however honest their subject matter may be. Both are great because of this

The Smashing Pumpkins last ever single
-
apparantly the evenign express today is saying that hearts may have up to 12 players out for sunday' date=' has anyone seen this, are they mostly first team players?[/quote']
Their Lithuanian trio are out, as well as McAllister (1st teamer), Burchill, Michael Stewart, Stephen Simmons, Berra. I don't think they're regulars, but the good news is that McKenna, Stamp and Pereira have been told they won't play for Hearts again

for you legends that like football manager and are aberdeen' date=' buy willie mclaren for like 30k he becomes ace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
[/quote']
I like Football Manager, and I am currently Aberdeen, but Bobby Petta fills my left mid spot, to great effect. I will get a scout on the ass of this McLaren boy, tho
