  4. hey bri are you able to get your hands on the yamaha sg that i used to own?
  5. after our gigs in December, aka-SKA will need a new drummer. We'll do those gigs with our current drummer, who will then leave to concentrate on his other musical projects, with which we wish him well. We need a reliable type, with some flair and imagination, and preferably with a love of 2-Tone and ska tunes. We offer crap wages ... splitting the cash among ten people won't pay your bills... but great gigs!!! It is really is a band just for the enjoyment of the music and gigging. We rehearse once a week, and gig about once every 6-8 weeks or so, with plans in 2007 to have a few more gigs outside aberdeen. if you are interested pm me. starsky
  6. thanks for the heads up nestor, i was going to check this out tonight but seeing as it ain't your thing i think i'll stay in watch eastenders. keep up the good work you are providing an excellent public service.
  7. au revoir simone are obviously only on the tour to do the laundry and keep the tour bus tidy. they were a waste of a good half hour set that a local band could have filled. the blood arm were good, the singer is a good front man but his singing wasn't that great. i was blown away by we are scientists, i saw them on jools holland earlier this year and thought they were really dull, impressed with all the songs, it's not often you see a band kick off with phil collins then encore with a boys 2 men classic:laughing:
  8. 3 bucks for 3 bands and free badges and loads o candy if yer in fancy dress. i think the font didn't have the pound sign.
  9. i thought disco dj was the best only because i could hear fuck all:P and the fish salad
  10. Download a flyer at www.aka-ska.com/images/theBIG-aka-ska.pdf aka-SKA are supporting The Big this Saturday, 2 September, at The Tunnels, Aberdeen. 5 at the door, with 2 bands, and DJs before & after the bands. Licenced till 3am. aka-SKA are a 10-piece outfit, playing yer faves from The Specials, Madness, Bad Manners and more. Expect the aka-SKA to be onstage around 9.45-10-ish, then The Big. :: The Big :: 6 years, 4 albums, a TV appearance and countless headline tours in the U.K. and abroad have earned The BiG a reputation as the most innovative and energetic Ska band in the U.K. Whether you're skankin', listening (or just watching!) you'll leave the shows with a tune in your head, always wanting more. The brand new double album Whatever Makes You Happy (Summer 2006) has top notch Ska and Reggae but reveals a versatile band successfully delving into many more genres to produce a truly unique release. Last year's 140-date tour of festivals and venues saw The BiG supporting The Stranglers, The Beat, The Damned, The Buzzcocks, Neville Staple (The Specials), Desmond Dekker, The Skatalites, Bad Manners, The Selecter, Electric 6, Alabama 3 and Dreadzone. The Whatever Makes You Happy continues through 2006 - don't miss out. www.thebig.org www.myspace.com/maximumska :: ::
