  1. If i'm listening to an album as long as its all about the same I dont mind. I dont want to be adjusting the volume all the time.

Mix tapes can be a problem though, some songs really quiet and some really loud

  2. I'd use it, I dont have that much material though so couldn't be a regular contributor.

If you didn't like/got bored of the CD you got back out could you bring it along to the next gig and swap it for something else?

  3. If you did the damage (ie dropped in on the floor) then you're can't send it back to the manufacturers. Thats shit' date=' but its life.

If you ordered it off the net, and especially amazon. com, they are very good and supplying new models. I don't know the laws and stuff...

But surely, why not have a bash yourself with the soldering iron?[/quote']

I never expected it te be fixed for free, I emailed creative to see how much it would be to repair. I still havn't got a reply though.

I wont have a go myself because I have very little soldering experience and it is really small so the chances of me messing it up are very high.

    EDIT

They have just got back to me, its gonna cost £60 to repair it. I think I'll have a try at getting it fixed in Aberdeen first.

  4. This sounds like you know what the fault is. I'm assuming that you've snapped the main circuit board (hence you reckon it can be re-soldered.)

I can fix this sort of thing for you but I'm offshore at the moment. Personally if you're looking for a new circuit board' date=' which sending it to the manufacturer with will almost certainly recommend if it is snapped, then this really is your best bet. Getting a local electronics firm to do it for you will usually cost more than the item is worth and all they are going to do is go through the manufacturer anyway. (That's what I do at work!)[/quote']

What has happened is that the USB port on the player is very poorly joined to the circuit board, It recieved a small bump while the USB lead was in there and that nocked it off the circuit board, so it needs to be soldered back on there or the circuit board needs replaced. I have taken it appart so I know this is what is wrong with it, I'm not just guesssing (Though I put it back together again so I dont forget how it alll goes together).

If you could have a look at it some time when you are back on shore that would be fantastic,

    pm me.

  5. err....isn't it the US that "go to war" on anyone?

I don't think I've seen a "country" go to war with the US since the Japs in the second world war (the US stepped into Cambodia and Vietnam' date=' no ?)[/quote']

Ok then, it means that arms companies can develop new whepons that work against this sort of technology and sell them to countries that are afraid of the US going to war with them.

  6. I have a Creative zen which is out of warrenty and needs fixed. I have taken it appart myself but it needs a very accurate soldering job or a new circuit board. Does anyone know if there is anywhere in Aberdeen that could do this sort of work? Or any where on the web that might repair it?

  7. I just came across this on another forum that I am a regular member of:

    http://www.pipelinecard.org

It's basically a concept that's in a similar vein to the way companies get dicounts on fuel through petrol cards, but for the general public - apparently if they get enough people to join, then there is an agreement in principle with a retailer to offer a discount on petrol of between 5 and 10p per litre of petrol, which isn't to be sniffed at. I know it sounds a bit suspect, but it has been featured in the press, and it's free, so I can't see an angle, if there is one there...

Of course, if it does turn out to be a great big filthy scam, then I take no responsibility, but I've signed up to it at any rate.

  8. IMUselessO' date=' E106 are at the fairly extreme and of the metal scale, and these other bands were at the extreme end of the punk scale. To my lightweight ears both genre's sort of weld together at that point.

I think you played very well, and that the only problem was that you are too good an act to put on first.

For 2006 I'm going to insist on mixed line-ups, because from experience these work the best. Last night a mixed line-up because, to the untrained listener, all the music was very heavy. I recall you playing 3rd in a mixed line-up at at The Moorings about a year ago (perhaps longer) and that went very well.

For the record Element 106 and Certain Death are the 2 heaviest bands that I can listen to and enjoy. And both get better every time I see them. I reckon that both have broad cross-over appeal and would benefit from being placed on a varied line-up.

I didn't like really heavy music at all until I first saw Element 106 (what was it?) 2 years ago... That's just my 2p worth. Working in The Moorings has really helped to broaden my musical horizons.[/quote']

I find this to be a bit annoying (Not having a go at you, just my oppinion here  ) as it means that if a band like Atomgevitter or certain Death come back to the moorings they will be on a bill with bands that are not hardcore punk bands, I dont have anything against bands like this but when I go to see a hardcore band its nice to see some hardcore support bands, if they aint there I'm likely to turn up later and leave after the band I want to see has finished. I also think it is less likely to draw as many fans of that particular band so therefor the crowd as a whole wont be into them as much, thus the atmosphere could be lacking. It will also mean I will drink less (What with me being there for less time) and I have fun when I'm a bit tipsy.

Obviously all just what I fear may happen, it might be great.

I love the moorings and think it is the best venue for this type of gig. The atmosphere was ace, the bands were good (Even E106  who I did watch for a bit but as I had just arrived I wanted to get a drink/say hello to friends so I didn't stand at the front for very long) and appart from the minor scuffle the crowd was immense, even when the fight broke out the ammount of people that got between the guys showed to me the ammount of respect everyone has for other people in there. If a fight broke out in many oof the begger clubs/bars I immaging many people would turn a blind eye.

  9. Yeh. I have noticed this about Moshulu gigs in particular, at Flogging Molly when the band started every one tried to push forward. What was this ever going to achieve? It squashed the people at the front and ment it was to cramped to dance in the main bit of the crowd!

It got better towards the end and I got a good jig with a bunch of decent people who wern't obsessed with getting to the barrier
