  1. Hi folks, I have been playing bass for 3 years. Interested in jamming with someone, likes: improvisation, jazz( not too complex). Familiar with modes, arpeggios etc. I work 9 to 5, looking for some creative output.... Thanks
  2. Upright bass, electric and fretless....but then again, it is a bit Spinal Tap.
  3. I did go and see CC on Friday.....enjoyed it thoroughly. I was only able to make an hour due to being cunted from earlier festivities. Certainly was up my street!! Good shout. I have actually had some response back via my private messages...didnt get any notification though...my account settings need to be changed to allow them..BAA
  4. still waiting................................................................................................................................................................................................................
  5. I like Larry Graham! Learned to play Earthquake and Hair recently
  6. C'mon Aberdeen, there must be people out there whom think this: is way out there!
  7. The only place in Aberdeen where I have heard funk has to be The Tunnels....I love the tunnels, but it is always half empty at times. Promotion is certainly needed at this venue. Will try and check out Chemical Callum.
  8. Cheers dude. Love the Tom Weir Avatar....the guy was a big influence on me, late night watching!! I missed his funeral two years back, has done alot for Scottish Outdoors, more so than the fecking Scottish Parliament IMHO. RockAustin I will probably PM and try and get i touch with him.
  9. Hi folks, I am a 29 year old bass player, been in Aberdeen for about 7 years, studied up here, now working. However, I have my longest yearning to start a funk band. Fellow band members must share similar taste. My influences/likes: Herbie Hancock, The meters, Pleasure, Zeppelin, Franz Ferdinand, Lalo Schriffin(Dirty Harry, Bullitt, Magnum Force theme tunes), Funkadelic, Jonas Hellborg, John Mclaughlin, Mandrill, Joe Tex, The Commodores(some of the funky stuff), Stevie Wonder, Talking Heads, Brecker Brothers, AC/DC, Tower of Power...etc Tight bands! I wouldn't classify Aberdeen as having a funk scene compared to the likes of Glasgow/Edinburgh....but there must be some folk out there who want to groove?? Possibly play covers, then progress from there.....
  10. Hey guys, pm me and I'll get contact details mobile etc.
  11. I'm a fucking socialist, hard studying trying to make something of myself. Fuck Capitalisim!....................manics? such a talented band?!?!?????????
  12. I like fusion type stuff, have always admired it over the years,.....i'm a bassist, give me a shout!
  13. Hi Thomas, would be up for jam playing kinda thing..like spontaneous stuff. Play bass....
  14. How shite is Aberdeen??? Does no-one want to start a decent band up here? Seriously, I am studying and need to unwind with my music, nothing totally serious, fun! C'mon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. Hi, I'm looking to form a band. I am a bass player, with unique sound. I like alot of stuff( not going to mention this now), however I'm keen on a primus type band...three piece. Give me a shout if interested

    Bassist

Looking for a band. Like a fusion of Rock and Funk.
  17. Here's my bass, Aria SB must be about +25 years now. It was customised by John Diggins, who is a respected guitar luthier. Active electronics, powered by two 9V batteries. Beautiful bass, very hi-fi sounding.....
  18. Hi, I have been a student in Aberdeen for 2 years now (currently going into my 3rd year), and will be returning in late september for another year. However, I am looking to join a band. The type of music I am into is hard to pin down........Talking Heads..........Led Zep......Weather Report..........Red Hot Chili's.......Jonas Hellborg.....Mahavishnu orchestra....pink floyd I love guitar driven bands, where guitar/bass/drum interacts, showcasing each talent. e.g. Led Zep, Chili's. Its hard trying to write this, because I like so many forms of music except maybe punk and daaaaaa-deeeee-daaaaa-deeeee guitar stuff(i.e. Blink 182 s*ite). Music has to flow, be rock/funk, whatever you call it. If I had to bracket my style, i would say funk, slap etc. I am looking for like minded individuals 18-30, to have fun with......jam, play and later get some gigs possibly. I am currently down in Glasgow at the mo', so please feel free to reply/contact. p.s. cannot bracket what i like, just like good music
  19. Hiya everybody, first post.....................fingers, no way do i use pick. You can get a real direct sound if played right at the bridge.
