  2. yeah he's sick of it. everyone is' date=' you'd hope. just the fucking politicians who have the stomach for it.[/quote']

just realised that having the stomach for it implies i figure they are only ones brave enough for it... totally not what i meant.

  3. Come see: lorenzo snow collective, holy folks, pete mconville, kathryn sawyers, fiona keenan and caroline kemp, kitchen cynics, welfare mothers, amber, little kicks (tbc, or Steven Milne solo) all confirmed, and probably some more too...

At the Kilau Coffee Shop on friday 2nd june, we're all playing to support fund raising for local and national stop the war groups.

events start in the late afternoon and will go on till around 10 or 11pm. More details to follow here, and also on a soon to be up and running myspace site that will have lots of background info on the issues, on the bands, with music etc etc etc.

    all the best!

  4. yeah maybe. i also might die before we ever get asked... i agree theres no point playing to a couple of people who are even less interested in your music than folks at home... tricky one, but i figured there might be some central belt venues that would be kind of suitable and its just a matter of finding them and speaking to them - just like it works here in aberdeen.

    cheers

I wouldn't gig out of Aberdeen until you're asked' date=' I did this in most my early bands and it paid off as it meant we were playing to a crowd who were into it. If you just take any old shit gig on a tuesday night in some social club you'll no doubt be posting on here about how shit whichever city it was is.[/quote']
  5. welfare mothers

    hi andy

welfare mothers would be up for supporting iliketrains next saturday.

you can listen to us at www.myspace.com/welfaremothers

Ill drop our CD off to you at the lemontree this afternoon.

    cheers

    kevin

Damn that Morrissey! All the Granite City's resident miserablists seem to be going to see him next Saturday' date=' meaning none of them can support the excellent iLiKETRAiNS at The Lemon Tree.

Any raincoat wearers or existential angst sufferers whose existence or musical excellence may have hitherto passed us by are invited to apply for the vacant slots.

If you feelyou're up this Herculean task, please drop a reply here or mail me direct on [email']music@lemontree.org

Here's a bit more info on the band

Since their first gig in February 2004, iLiKETRAiNS have crept in as a formidable part of the fertile Leeds scene, creating individual musical soundscapes that have stood them apart from their contemporaries. Debut single, the dark, brooding murder ballad Before The Curtains Close earned them strong praise in the national and regional press. Triumphant slots at the Carling Leeds Festival and In The City, and the second single A Rook House For Bobby confirmed them as very serious contenders. Decked out in matching British Rail uniforms and backed by films of trains, snow and chess from their antiquated projectors, their live shows are now starting to create a major buzz.

  6. I got TWO!!! Thanks!!!!!

ah yeah, twins. and just in case.

if anyone else would like a physical copy of the CD (which is a better deal because it has an extra song, a cover of Beck's Pay No Mind, which we didnt put on the web archive), then just contact us on the blog, or the myspace site or PM me here.

    cheers

  7. Welfare Mothers CD

    www.welfaremothers.blogspot.com

or you can contact us (leave a post on the blog) if you want us to send you a real copy of the CD (for just a couple of quid) which has an extra-bonus cover track of Beck's Pay No Mind.

    cheers

  8. hi iain

i just read your last post. its weird, i was about to put one up asking FOR a drummer, but it soudns like you perfectly fit the bill. our band is called the great bears, our drummer is going to canada for a few months, she comes back in february, and we are looking for someone into neil young, pixies, beck, pavement, nirvana etc to play with us doing our own songs while lynn is away and possibly for longer if she comes back with no desire to be a drummer anymore. We've got a few 4trak demos as mp3 files that i could send you for a listen and if you like them then we could arrange to meet up at a practice room here in aberdeen at some point soon and let you hear us? the demos are of older songs, and arent as grungy as we sound live but you'll get an idea of what we are like i guess.

we're all really busy with work and other things so we would be arranging practies specifically for gigs, as opposed to a weekly regular thing, but we're totally committed to putting a great set together and playing regularly in and around aberdeen. I sent these demos to dr drakes recently and they offered us a gig right away on the back of them, but we had to pull out. they've offered us another gig as soon as we get it together with another drummer though... so anyway, if your interested get back to me on k.allan@abdn.ac.uk, and ill send you the mp3 files, or arrange to get you a CD copy.

    cheers

    kevin
