  9. Roddy Woomble and friends Tuesday 25th July - The Lemon Tree Tickets 15 (10 concessions & Regulars) Doors Open: 7.30pm Show Starts: 8pm Born in 1976 in the west of Scotland, Roddy travelled extensively through his childhood, living in France and the United States before settling in Edinburgh to study photography, where he met his Idlewild band mates. After stints in both London and New York City, Roddy now lives in Glasgow. Idlewild are well known for their musical journey and evolvement, from the loud abrasive punk rock of their early records to the country and folk leanings of their last offering - 2005's 'Warnings/Promises' (which saw them headline the second stage at the Cambridge Folk Festival). Always very vocal about his love of traditional Scottish folk music as well as groups such as Fairport Convention and the Incredible String Band, Roddy has decided to take time out from Idlewild to collaborate on an album's worth of songs that take these influences and mix them with Idlewild's trademark soaring melodies and thoughtful lyrics. 11. New Adem album Just listening to the new Adem album, and I'm glad to say its excellent. I totally fell in love with 'Homesongs' and was praying that this one would be a worthy follow up. Yay! it is! though brace yourselves, there's drumkit on it, which isn't bad, just different.
  12. http://www.nch.com.au/switch/ this ones quite good, but make sure you get the free version, not the 30 day trial of the one you have to pay for.

  17. If it's authentic honky tonk country you want... Corb Lund and the Hurtin' Albertans Sunday 26th March The Lemon Tree Tickets 12 (8 concessions & Regulars) Doors Open: 7.30pm Show Starts: 8pm While most country acts wouldn't know a horse from a hearse, Alberta's Corb Lund comes from four generations of Canadian ranchers, and is a former rodeo rider. That authenticity oozes through his songs of cowboys, drinking, gambling, trucks and oilrigs both in the way they're written and how they're played by his brilliant band in classic boom-chikka-boom style. Despite the traditional surface sound, Lund's superbly crafted lyrics reflect the contrasting elements of his life experience, blending a Western upbringing with a decade on the indie rock scene with his previous group, the smalls. 'A delight in the vein of the best honky-tonk recordings of Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Jerry Jeff Walker but also influenced by the story-telling style of Marty Robbins, Ian Tyson, and Johnny Cash' Billboard Lemon Tree website
