'We enter the stage feeling confident despite an energetic performance from "Blue Speckled Mitsu's" then being bored to tears by Keane sound alike's "kenetic".'

Just a little bit from Toy's blog...hmmm....sounds a bit like sour grapes to me. I mean, fair enough being bored to tears, but comparing us to Keane...Thats way bellow the Belt. I'm actually hurt!

On a serious note though, is it not funny how these bands can take a battle of the bands so seriously? I know that we can kinda say that we didn't care from the start now that we won it, but anyone thats knows us will know that that was our general opinion from the start to the finish (maybe cared a little more when the flashed 4 grand in fornt of us :D) but that was our feeling about it.

Anyway, the whole compitition was shown to be a farce the moment Stanley were knocked out. I don't care who got through instead of them, they are better than any of the other bands that played that night with us!

  2. Aye, i'm really glad Kenetic won. Lets hope they spend the money usefully.

I've already ordering several differerent 'brands' of drugs and hookers if anyone's interested? :D

I would have to agree with Milner though, never enter Battle of the Bands, not an enjoyable experience. Fine to have won but didn't enjoy the nights that much, couldn't really relax. Saying that, the fact that the nights didn't finish till 2 in the morning might have something to do with that as well....

  3. This is the Champions League Del' date=' not the conference. If your sloppy play leads to two goals, you haven't had a solid game.[/quote']

Have to agree with this. Thought Graveson had a poor game, but still, only his second game so will reserve judgement till he has settled in. To be honest, I think he will come good. I think the back 4 were solid and was disappointed to see Wilson go off.

  4. Hey Folks,

I have a 10month old Line 6 Flextone amp for sale. In perfect condition. I'm selling the Shortboard footpedal with it also. It really is a good amp and like i said, the condition couldn't be much better. Its as good as new.

Due to the fact that now i am in quite a hurry to sell, I'm looking to get around 325 for it but I am flexible on that. I bought both the amp and pedal brand new from Bruce Millars about 10months ago for about 650.

Pm me if your interested. I can get photos if anyone needs. :)

    Thanks,

    Ciaranxx

  5. I'm not saying that because they are playing in town means that you have to think they are ace, cause there are plenty of bands that play aberdeen that i think are terrible, the difference is, if i think a band that is playing is poor, i wont pay to go see them and wont talk about them cause i wouldn't see the point in wasting energy moaning about it. I just don't know why there has to be a negative view on the fact that a band as big as Kula Shaker WERE playing in aberdeen. Everyone compains that there are hardly any gigs on in town, and when there is, everybody complains anyway.

I can see your point with Radiohead, but i also named other bands that, to say the least, haven't progressed in a way that Radiohead have... Bluetones haven't changed a bit, and Supergrass are still essentially a british rock band. The end of the day, not every band is to everyone's taking, but this has surely got to be a good event. I can't see how you can say otherwise, regardless of music taste.

I agree that people have opinions, and i'm just expressing mine, not even just as Kula Shaker fan, but as a music fan in general. I think its good that Aberdeen, and Drummonds, can attract a band of that calibre. Might not be to taste but you can't argue with record sales and the fact they pretty much sold-out in a day. The demand is there and they obviously still enjoy playing.

Frech_disko, I can see your point and i hear where you coming from man. I just think there are more positives than negatives.

Apologies in advance for poor grammar/spelling

  6. Does anyone think there will be a day in aberdeen where a band willl play and not everyone will moan about it? Kula Shaker are, imo, an excellent live band and have 2 really good albums. Regardless of this, Radiohead, Manics, Bluetones, Supergrass...the list goes on...bands from that era that still play together. Does it make it any different the fact they split up? Am I missing something here? Can only be a good thing that they are playing. At least it will make the 300 odd people who go see them happy. And if you don't like it, don't go. Its not rocket science.

That aside, really looking forward to seeing them.should have a nice intimate atmosphere and should be quite a unique night.

  7. I think Kula Shaker reforming is one of the best ideas ever, they split up well before their time was up, one of the best bands of the 90's imho. Can't wait for Drummonds. One of my friends saw them in London quite recently and said they were excellent!!

As for Razerlight...hmm...who's supporting? Unless there is an absolutely brilliant support of tickets are under a fiver i think i'll save my money. Can see people who cant sing anyday of the week! :D

  8. Hey folks,

Just to let you know that Kenetic are Supporting Union of Knives at The Tunnels on the 24th May. I went to go see Union of KNives the last time they were at the the Tunnels, and they were Amazing! Even if you aren't into the kind of music they play, its well worth going along to, just for the experience! :) Support also from Legs.

If you are intested in going and want a ticket, we are selling them at 5. Just get in touch with either me, rae (*rae*) or milner.

    Hope to see you there,

  9. I just put it on about 20 minutes ago' date=' haven't seen my two faves yet, Radiohead - err...... the one where the guy is lying on the road

    and the Verve Bittersweet Symphony[/quote']

That would be Just. Going by the list it must have been on quite early. Plus, going by the style of programme you wouldn't have got to see the whole video anyway due to 'celebrity' banter!

  10. You're entitled to your opinions' date=' and I won't offer excuses (we weren't on form that night)...suffice to say that when you get two hours to soundcheck, and one band (nameless, of course) uses up an hour and a half of that time with interminable fannying about, leaving our band with nothing more than a 5 minute line-check before we start...it doesn't make for the best performance!

I'm expecting we'll sound better in Drummonds on Monday.

    AKM[/quote']

    You mean the Headliners?

  11. fair enough that does make sense :)

Haha i bet losing a click track mid song would be awful' date=' as would be losing your place whilst playing along to one, thank god i dont have to go through all that, ciaran dont get an ideas...........[/quote']

Now that you mention it..... :)

  12. not wanting to sound like a knob' date=' but how can drums be too tight? Surely being as tight as possible is the first and most important part of being a drummer is it not?? As for the click track thing, you do kinda need to be in time when you play a set that has mini disc samples and extra bits.........but then what do i know, im only a drummer. :)[/quote']

My thoughts exactly! I might be totally off here, but i thought drummers were meant to keep time? seems strange that one would get slagged off for doing it too well? :)

  13. Now we have a full line-up there is no excuse for not going! plus, its the perfect romantic night for all those with ladies/gentlemen. your spouse will forever thank you for a brilliant valentine's day attending this great event! :D
