  1. read if you dare!

kutner commits suicide by shooting himself in his apartment. no explanation was given or figured out. it fucked house up a lot, and his vicodin addiction worsens to the point where he just loses it.

    also, finale spoiler

realising he was worse than ever on vicodin, he asks cuddy for help to detox - which he succeeds in, with her help - and they end up having sex.

the next day, he's over the moon about his conquest, going as far as to announce to the entire hospital that he'd slept with her by shouting it across the foyer. she then points out she never did help him detox - she had actually gone home before he asked her for help. House then realises the whole "detox" scenario was merely his imagination; the vicodin having affected his mind to the point where his whole life is essentially a big hallucination. the episode ends with chase and cameron finally getting married, and house being taken to a mental hospital by wilson.

it makes you wonder just how much of the latter half of s5 was hallucinated, at least the final two episodes were mostly hallucinations.

again, click if you really dare

  3. I hope you're wrong, it was intended to be a genuine discussion, as long as people don't get pissed off about someone disagreeing with their particular view, I'm sure we'll be fine.

i hope i'm wrong too, but i fear this will get ugly, in true aberdeen-music style:down:

ps - did i miss something, or are you dustydeviada, by any chance?

  4. Well The Beatles influenced just about everybody who grew up in that era, I can't be arsed raking about the web and making a list, but I've lost count of the amount of times I've read an interview with somebody saying "I saw The Beatles on Ed Sullivan and knew I wanted to be a rock star". They were even an influence on Hendrix. ;)

yes, there was that. doesnt mean i'm going to accept them as the best band in the world, though. Led Zep, black sabbath, hell, even bloody metallica get similar deification from their respective fanbases and they are nowhere near the best bands in the world.

you still didnt answer what i asked regarding your rationale for your opening statement; could you please be a bit more concise? :)

  5. that's just wrong.

anything brian may is involved with can never be better than anything done by anyone else. ever. he's more unlikeable than mccartney and that's fucking saying something.

did he touch you up or something? **

this thread isnt going to last very long, i think.

** just incase you take it seriously, this was a joke :)

  6. Lennon, actually was a very good guitarist, that's him playing all those cool bluesy lines on Get Back. Ditto McCartney, he's playing the cool solo on Taxman. That's not to say that George wasn't good, but they were all accomplished guitar players.

No, you couldn't. Seriously. Jimi Hendrix was succesful in terms of sales, but in no way even close to The Beatles. He certainly had an influence on guitar players but I don't think his music changed the world.

Sames goes for Queen. Again, a succesful band, but let's face facts, they were a singles band. They made, what, one good album? Lots of great singles though for sure. And I don't really think they influenced that many people, maybe Mika.

and the beatles influenced who, oasis?

i'd agree with the hendrix's music not changing the world - thats a point. his guitar playing changed electric guitarists and the sonic landscape of rock music forever, though.

i'd still call queen a better band than the beatles.

  7. How about there is no best band ever?

    It's far too subjective.

    quoted for truth

    edit: also, for my opinion,

the beatles are NOT the best band in the world. hell, out of the bands from that particular period, i'd say i prefer the who to the beatles any day. just more my cup of tea - the bass playing, drumming, and singing were all easily technically/musically better than the beatles (okay, townshend isnt the best guitarist, but neither was john lennon, if we're going to be pedantic. harrison was fantastic though) and for me they wrote better songs. im not saying the who are the best band in the world by any means, just that personally i feel they're a much, much better band than the beatles.

out of interest, bigsby, what criteria does a band need to satisfy in order to gain such a title? just what you put in your original post -

When you look at not only their record sales, but the critical reception to their music, their evolution in such a short time and huge influence, not just musically but culturally, it's clear that nobody else even comes close.

because i could quite easily attribute the same things to bands such as Queen and The Jimi Hendrix Experience and call them the best bands in the world. You've got to be a bit more concise, otherwise this thread will just peter out and die in a plume of "my opinion is better than yours" flavoured smoke.

  8. Hey folks,
