Shocking challenge from Zander, certainly worthy of a red. Had it been Paul Dixon who committed it, the ref would have given a throw-in.
They had a stonewaller turned down too.
We were outplayed by a thoroughly average Yinited team. Depressing.

that was the most shocking stat i think, why are kids choosing to support those teams? it can't just be gloryhunting or is it because they're on tv so much more?
So many OF fans see it as their duty to pass the baton, as it were. They believe that their kids should be brought up supporting a club who have 'great tradition and history' etc. Their misty-eyed romantic outlook about their 'big family' flies in the face of the facts. There is nothing noble about supporting either cheek of the Old Firm arse. Celtic's smug, self-awarded superiority and Rangers' bizarre 'weeee urrr rra peeppulll' stance are the most misguided, short-sighted and downright embarrassing stains on the Scottish football landscape. And, by extension (given that football is such a way of life in this country), on Scottish society as a whole.
Any Old Firm fan with a hint of level headedness and rationale would not subject their offspring to the life of supporting Celtic or Rangers; the ones who do should be cursing their dads and supporting their local side.
Celtic fans can go fuck themselves. Never have a more ignorant people claimed moral and intellectual superiorty than in their case. One Glaswegian last week asked me, simply, 'Celtic or Rangers?'. When I replied 'Aberdeen', she said 'aye but which of the Old Firm do you prefer?'. I could not give less of a fuck which half of their pathetic sorority wins which trophy from one season to the next. They have stifled the life out of football in this country with their pathetic bickering and embarrassing antics, and they really expect me to pick a favourite?
As for Rangers fans. Well. Let's just say that Lesley, as an intelligent, articulate and rational fan of theirs, is included in a miniscule percentile.

Nope, but they did play California One and Won't Want For Love. I'll take that trade-off.

One in-growing hair causing my face to explode like a motherfucker. I've never had good skin, but fuck! It's like I'm a teenager all over again.

LOL@anything that doesn't involve a ball (or puck, shuttlecock etc) being considered a sport. Formula One. What a fucking joke.
Fitba
Tennis
Golf
Snooker
Basketball (if I'm, ahem, 'mellow')
The rest can GTF.

Gonna wait til I get home and onto proper speakers before I give it a listen.
Words cannot express my love for 80s REM, but I have been pretty underwhelmed by their post-New Adventures output (1997 IIRC). Fingers crossed, but I don't have high hopes for the new record.

Also on the Diouf issue the other boards I read that are talking about the old firm issues are suggesting Lennon shouted at Douf at the end of the first half and used the word 'Monkey'.
Whether it's true or not is yet to be seen but if Lennon did racially abuse Diouf then no matter how much of a dick Diouf is Lennon deserves lose his job.
EDIT: This has been coming from the Rangers side though so could be total bullshit. I see they're talking about it on some old firm boards as well.
I call Rangers 'the monkeys' all the time. It is a common derogatory nickname for them a la 'Huns' and has nothing to do with race. It's just a slightly childish but ultimately harmless way of pointing out that they have missed an evolutionary step or two. It has been a common nickname for them for as long as I can remember.
However, I can imagine that if you call a black Rangers player a monkey then you won't get much of a chance to explain the subtle distinction. If Lennon indeed call Diouf a monkey, then it has racist connotations and he should be sacked.
I very much doubt that it happened, though.

Y'know what I'd love? Old Firm matches played behind closed doors with no TV cameras, no press coverage whatsoever. The referee reveals the score the next day. Do this each time they play one another over a whole season and fan trouble, disciplinary issues etc will be a thing of the past. Any time trouble flares up, the next game is a blackout again.
Obviously this could never happen due to television contracts etc, but it would be a brilliant way to handle it.
As numerous people have mentioned, fines are a fart against thunder. The docking of points, closed-door games and banning from Euro competition (after all, they are supposedly representing our country) would be good, but will never happen.
The SFA and SPL bosses are also in a tough spot; Rangers were the main perpetrators but if they are singled out there will be a massive outcry and the whole affair will be used as 'evidence' that they are unfairly treated (not unreminiscent of Celtic's laughable stance earlier this season). That will keep this story prominent for months, which they will certainly not like.
God I wish they would just leave Scottish football and take their backwards, bigoted selves off somewhere else.

Seems like my rant was timely; this has been building for quite some time. The Old Firm offer nothing to Scottish football beyond some Schadenfreude for foreign observers. It is an absolute embarrassment that they are our most prominent teams.
My prediction:
STEP 1) Media talk about 'shame' until the weekend
STEP 2) Half-arsed apologies along the lines of 'should have been more professional'
STEP 3) Negligible suspensions/punishements
STEP 4) Life goes on
Once more, I re-iterate my point: the OF heap shame upon this country and they give little back. Not a week goes by whereby they don't bring our game into disrepute. It is a constant embarrassment. Rangers sign players like Diouf; he should be jetissoned from football, not revered because he once spat on Celtic fans. A despicable excuse for a human that even Rangers fans in their right minds will abhor.
Scottish football is rotten to the core, and it isn't because of the actual standard of football (whose demise is perpetuated by the media; say it enough and people will believe it). The problem is that there are two clubs who set the laws and who fight their own battles outwith any jurisdiction. In most other countries, both clubs would have the book thrown at them. Won't happen here. They call the shots.

^^^^ Is he mouthing the name 'Waazza'? Or doing one of those dated Budweiser wasssups, because G-Nev is outwith the concept of trends.

Is anybody else a little uncorfotable at the thought of John W being in charge of their safety?
Na seriously, well done fella

Just had this quoted at me when I asked a Hun on another forum to provide evidence of Dons fans singing the Ibrox disaster song.
Football: Aberdeen aim to identify 'moronic' fans - Sport - The Independent
The Dons fans shouldnt have done that. However, it was fourteen years ago. I really think that you would be hard pressed to find actual evidence of it happening in the last decade or so (I dont include anything in the Record or Sun as evidence, because they have no qualms about making stuff up). Really, if we are playing tit-for-tat with Rangers fans re. singing unseemly songs, there will only be one winner. Not even close. Shit, Rangers are even worse than Celtic at it!

Flaky scalp. Not a good look.
Better than a skaly flap

Curious Christy is curious. Please to be shipping the PM. Lesley and I were in some clases together in first year (maybe 2nd year too)

No, fairly short. Although I did have long hair when I was a young hooligan, but that was a long time ago. I don't do any of your main subjects. And don't know too much about Derrida either. Probably a blessing.
Are you Norn Arsh?

According to my (very old) records, I gave Karma Tsunami (I think) 14 for an essay. I don't know if that's a good mark or not.
<18 = bad mark, 18+ = good.
DJ Dub, 'Dub' being short for W.
Dan Wall. What a nice fellow he is.
-
Shane and Derek gave me bad marks, A-Mac, T-Bakez and DJ Dub gave me good marks. Young markers FTW!

Cannot wait to see them at The Barrowlands on Saturday.
-
Can't bring myself to listen to them, having seen a photo. They look almost as contemptible as Mumford & Sons
-
Speaking of penalty....people from Aberdeen city tend to say penal-teee, emphasising the last syllable rather than the first one. Teuchters like me pronounce it correctly, though.

I think the partially soul-destroying part was when I would comment on a first essay about something they shouldn't be doing; comma splicing or incorrect use of quotation marks or, more commonly, referencing. Then I would get their second essay and there it was again. Not just once or twice, but consistently.
Tutoring first years just confirmed that I do not want to be a teacher/academic when I'm finished my PhD. I got good feedback though, I just didn't enjoy it.
I am a motherfucker for the old comma-splicing. It is just so damn hard to avoid unless I am getting my concentrate-on. I sympathise with the student, for I suffer from the same afflcition

At least its not the boring cunt shite that is Clem Snide who he brought the last two tours.
Though having said that, now having listened to her, shes a bit of a boring cunt shite too. He should just play without support.
HE FUCKING HAD CLEM FUCKIGN SNIDE SUPPORTING? Saw them in 2001 and adored them...bought the record, loved it, then lost it. I had forgotten that they'd ever existed, but Goddamn! how I loved them for one summer

Glasgow Rangers FC and its supporters* are repulsive. If only they had the self-awareness to see themselves through the eyes of well-adjusted humans. They* are a throwback to a less evolved era.
