  1. at the end of the day. a guitar is a guitar. once you plug it into your amp... its takes over

most of your sound comes from the amp

if i was so bothered about the price of guitars and how much better a top quality guitar is, i would of bought myself a Gibson by now. But instead, i have my two homebuilt guitars and my two fenders(mex and jap) and i must admit... i'm fucking mega happy. the most expensive guitar i own cost me 400 including a hard case!

  2. Valve amps create a bigger sound Leckie... so they sound louder

Craig is right about the wattage though. I have a 100 watt head, and i cranked it to 10 one night(going through my 280watt 4x12) and it was insanely loud. Luckily i can switch the output down to 50 or 25watts!!!

    magic happens then :D

    My current set up:

Marshall, DSL 50 - Running through a Marshall 4x12 bass cab.

    Presence - 6

    Bass - 4.5

    Middle - 6.5

    Treble - 7.5

    Reverb - 3.5

    Gain - 6

    Volume - 5.5

Vox AC30, through the brilliant input

    (approx.)

    Brilliant - 6

    Treble - 7

    Bass - 4

    Cut - 6

...because of volumes I need to give this bad boy an extra little push, so I use an Ibanez Tubescreamer, level set at about 3, tone and drive about mid-way.

I also use a Boss DD3 which I run straight into the front of the amp (well the A/B/Y box), for extra warmth and fatness when required.

My main guitars are les pauls, strung with D'Addario 11 - 49's.

    Slung low, rocked hard!

I have a very hard attack, as well as the fact I've opted for raising my neck pick up and lowering the bridge for a very bass heavy 'woody' sound.

I'm very particular about my gear and tone.

hey, why do you run the DD-3 into the front of the amp now?

cos i'm not there to turn it on ;)

i can get a very Watson-esque tone from my Sunburst Tele when i use the neck pickup. It ain't raised as high as yours... in fact, it sits flush with the pickup mounting ring.

Its quite impressive that, for a rock player, your main pickup is the neck pickup. not many rock guitarists do that anymore... its all out bridge humbuckers.

I really like the middle pickup setting. its really nice... sound really ace for bluesy rock riffs.

When you gonna be modding that Tele of yours? whats the plans for it?

  4. The Black Tele is losing two of the stickers(the quik one and the one on the pickguard) i'm leaving the one on the body though. i like that one sticker. its cool

the mustang is pissing me off. i dunno if i like the sound i get from it. i'm still trying to decide.

the black tele is in the same boat, but i'm waiting to see how it sounds now that i've rewired it. it should sound a lot better for some reason. if not.... the JB is going bye bye and i'm gonna get a Kent Armstrong Motherbucker!!!!

the new tele is very crisp... but if i roll back the tone i get a nice fat sound from it .... then when i play a solo... i turn up the tone and get the biting treble that would cut through most mixes!! :D

  5. thanks mr!

yes, that joke was pretty awful!

Look at the wee family i have now

    fa64aef0.jpg

    (from left to right)

Custom Made Tokai Telecaster, Black, Seymour Duncan Humbuckers(59n/JBb), 2 volume/1 tone and a 3-way switch in the same place as on a Les Paul!!!

MIM Fender Telecaster, Sunburst, Seymour Duncan Humbuckers (59n/Hotrails b)

Fender Mustang, Seymour Duncan and Kent Armstrong Pickups

Fender Jerry Donahue Telecaster, Blue. All standard..... but for how long???

Fender Nashville Telecaster, White(not mine... but it's lived here long enough to feel like part of the gang)

    (not in picture)

    Washburn D10CE Acoustic Electric, Natural

thats an awful lot of guitars!

I had a THD HotPlate... was quite cool. still didn't get that sweet sound though. i htink the speakers fucking up really adds a lot to the tone :D

I get a thick clean sound

my 2nd channel gives me a nice thick crunch like a JTM45(which is what the sound is modelled after)... sounds awesome when boosted with an overdrive :D

3rd channel is awesome. excellent rock tone. boost it with a pedal and its unreal!
