  1. One could also argue that its a waste of beds and money to have whole wards dedicated to anorexic patients. Being fat isn't ideal and no its not really any better to advertise as a good role model, but I don't see why fat is any worse than anorexic.

Aye but they can obviously squeeze a lot more anorexics into a hospital.

Its also wrong to comapare the two conditions. Apparently anorexia is a mental condition. Fatness is cake related disorder.

  2. I'd much rather see more people of her size being confident in themselves than I would dozens of cookie cut out girls wanting to slim down just because it's cool.

Erm, so a world where all the hospital Beds are so full of dying fat fucks that anyone with a non self inflicted illness cant get any treatment. Great.... Aye but its ok cos they got to feel good about themselves! Please No.

Personnally I think Ditto is overcompensating. As do most fat lasses. She'll need a stairlift and a heart transplant before she hits 30. Mind you she can probably afford it.

  3. That cover shot screams hypocrisy. This is someone who claims to not give rats ass what she looks like and then her photos airbrushed (shes fat, there will be cellulite she has it its completely absent in that shot).

True its very hypocritical in that sense. I reckon as well as airbushing the bodyhair, acne and dimples from her bum they've slimmed her anyway. Its like, yeh cool, lets put a photo of a huge naked porker on the cover but...erm....lets slim her down a bit. Not the full porker. Cos that would be too much. They are right like.

  4. Stockton is home to the Georgian Theatre - great venue! Prob inbetween Drummonds and the Lemon Tree in terms of size. Good bands and good sound. Dunno who the promoter is tho but a quick search on the venue name would get you in the right direction.

Just avoid Sunderland at all costs. It smells of poos. Everywhere else is fine. And go to Leeds as well, just down the dual carriageway from Middlesbrough.

  5. Im using an Access Virus TI POLAR, and a Nord Lead 1 among other things - the Nord sound is very different to the Access. Chalk and Cheese but both dead good.

Both respond to severe programming really well and are good for warping on the hoof, live. Neither ever fail or glitch. Multitimbral set up on the POLAR is uber flexible. Its got tthe TI software but using the hardware panel is about a millions time more useful.

The best thing about the POLAR id its lovely Moog Sounds so I wouldnt get that AND a Moog. Wheras the Nord sound is very un Moog, so would ideally require a Moog to complement it.

As a broad comparison only, Id say the POLAR is better for fat basses and pads and the Nords are better for cutting Leads and clunky digital things.

I still will be getting a Moog Little Phatty for the fab looks at some point tho.

  6. I disagree, the last few years have been like a return to the Britpop days. There is a lot of great guitar bands all around the country, not necesarily the ones in the charts but they are definitely there.

Underground indie being in good shape is not a renaissance of the Britpop era

The current state of the charts housing insiply awful british guitar bands like razorlight, the fratellis, the view, snow patrol, kaiser cheifs etc hardly bears comparison to the time when the verve, blur, suede, oasis, pulp, elastica etc ruled the airwaves and charts does it?

Im not saying ''then was better than now'' cos in general terms it wasnt.....but the popularity of the british indie scene most definately was very much higher back then, mainly due to the reasonable* quality of it

if theres good indie stuff hiding underground then great, but until its widely successful its not really a new age of Britpop is it?

I can only think of two good indie british bands regularly charting now and thats the Artic Monkeys and the Klaxons

Decent Indie from the UK is possibly on the way to becoming totally removed / marginalised from the mainstream (just like Metal did in the 90s) becoming a niche category - while samey cheesy anthem indie takes over *shudder*

..it will however help to sell more cars/cider/tampons

*opinion of the wider public - not my own

  7. let alone brainless, conceited she-creatures with hiiiiillllaaarrriiiooousss big sunglasses and leggings. I tried to give The View a chance and again, complete and utter piss.

Girls (or men) wearing leggings in public should be shot on sight. Troops should be brought back from the pointless wars in Iraq and Afganstanistan to do something of much more benefit to the nation.

  8. utter nonsense, they were all born in 1987 as far as i know, making them 19/20 years old...a year younger than alex turner for comparison?

    ex - fuckin - zackly!

alex turner being a sprog but a super lyrically talented sprog (apart from a couple of college poetry group type clangers and the new album)

where as the view write 100% nursery rhyme bollocks all of the time

but still not quite as bad as razorlight like - nothing ever will be

kinda makes one realise what an awful downward spiral british indie guitar music is in

  9. If you've got a bit of cash to splash then Pure or Kafka do really nice suits. Pimp, Rat Pack or Classic. They should have something.

Serious cash like but a suit is for life. Maybe.

Bad suits are just bad and make people look like double glazing salesmen. Total waste of money.

Less cash to invest? Then a trip to Zara in Inverness or Glasgow will result in a much nicer than average lovely stylish suit. Nice shirts and ties too.

Zara for work. Pure/Kafka for posh.

  10. It's not like 8-bit stuff is filling up the airwaves though, I can't name that many artists that use them.

    hmmm

bit reduced synth sounds are all over the charts billowing outa the discos ...... nearly everything on Annie Mac features a distorted bit reduction breakdown - seems to be the new filter sweep, but its tired / cliched already

but yeh not many artists would make use of purely 8 bit sounds for a entire track ....that would sound like a shitty toy song - atom and his package have done it to death anyway

but then again.... 8-bit bass just sounds massive and hard as fuck to honest - mix it with some resampled v low Khz bass drum = super dirty electro yum

    no good sounds are bad

  11. I'm not being anti-8bit sounds, I'm talking about people who use them inappropriately or in a shit way, or as an excuse for bad production values while insisting it's trendy/retro/ironic.

    currently yeh, its overused

but its only trendy this week

next week it wont be a problem

another ''cool'' sound will pop up and be exploited to death

    supply and demand etc

fortunately most people can see right through ''trendy but shit'' so I wouldnt worry about it

  12. i use 3 hardware synths - one has a SID chip in it

the other two synths are all capable of bit reduction and therefor 8 bit emulation but rarely offer the same cheesy level of Commodore 64 / Space Invaders sounds - so surprise surpise - when i need a low fi Coin Op sound I use the SID - it also does other stuff too beleive it or not....

but being anti 8 bit sounds is as stupid as being anti Ring Modulation, anti Distortion or anti Low Pass Filtering etc

they all sound good, and all have a place in the never ending cycle of hip sounds and era defining sounds

8 - bit -ness is just one of a few hundred manipulations that can be applied to any synth sound

so aye....Im not sure what the problem is???

  13. Im quite upset that there is no scene anymore. Means Ill need to disband my own anti-scene. You absolute fuckin bastards!

Stripeys contributions are now at a new truly psychotic level however.

Too much time in the digital domain - not enough reality?!

That's how the posts read anyway.

  14. please review the Prinzhorn Dance School gig at Triptych

easily the worst band Ive ever been unfortunate enough to see/hear

it would be good to see this confirmed in writing, and I agree that bad reviews are far more entertaining to read than good ones

abject uselessness performing the most fake brand of art rock (you can use that if you like)

saw them at barrowlands with about 2000 other very bored people

only saw three people actually clap.....who must have been relatives or heavy drug users

  15. I only ever see neds smoking these days which is good cos they will go infertile and therefor be able to breed less. They should be given free fags in fact. 40 Bensons a day at least.

The only bad thing about the smoking ban is that the smell of stale smoke previously masked the smell of putrid beer farts, B.O. and general toilet pongs eminating from the bogs. Clubs seem worst affected. By 1 am it fucking stinks in some places.

  16. Yup.

I certainly wouldnt class : ( as a bad band. I adore what they do on record - but was a bit disappointed when I saw them live.

I wouldnt either. The electronic side of their sound is ace. The emo side less so to me at least. And we both know how uber difficult it is translate a pure electro format into a live performance. So judging them on a gig as some people inevitably will is a bit unfair, especially when they have good recorded stuff out there. Horses for courses an all that.

I voted for the band with the worst fake american accents btmfw.
