  1. No touring support apparently, so open to suggestion, persuasion and bribery...
  2. Just been informed it's up for grabs. So any local acts who feel they'd fit and do the business, mail me at <music@lemontree.org>- or suggestions for the same.
  3. Since this ruse worked so well for the iLiKETRAiNS show at the weekend, I thought we'd try it again as we've struck out with trying to round up the usual suspects to support Rick Buckler's Jam tribute at The Lemon Tree on Thursday 4th May. If your band is musically compatible with the headliners and you're free on that date, let me know on music@lemontree.org Should be a busy one and a good gig for the right band...
  4. Just to let you know the Prince listens and your voice does count, he played Madeleine Mary tonight in Perth after checking out this forum earlier in the week. That's probably not much consolation for those of you that wanted to hear it, though... And it was great, needless to say.
  5. Damn that Morrissey! All the Granite City's resident miserablists seem to be going to see him next Saturday, meaning none of them can support the excellent iLiKETRAiNS at The Lemon Tree. Any raincoat wearers or existential angst sufferers whose existence or musical excellence may have hitherto passed us by are invited to apply for the vacant slots. If you feelyou're up this Herculean task, please drop a reply here or mail me direct on music@lemontree.org Here's a bit more info on the band Since their first gig in February 2004, iLiKETRAiNS have crept in as a formidable part of the fertile Leeds scene, creating individual musical soundscapes that have stood them apart from their contemporaries. Debut single, the dark, brooding murder ballad Before The Curtains Close earned them strong praise in the national and regional press. Triumphant slots at the Carling Leeds Festival and In The City, and the second single A Rook House For Bobby confirmed them as very serious contenders. Decked out in matching British Rail uniforms and backed by films of trains, snow and chess from their antiquated projectors, their live shows are now starting to create a major buzz. www.iliketrains.co.uk
  6. Some of the band and Will did go up the Lampie though they didn't play. I beleive the Edinburgh show was recorded for Global Gathering and will be broadcast sometime nect month and streamed on teh Radio Scotland website so I'd keep an eye out there for it.
  7. Glad everyone enjoyed it. Hard to see how it could've gone better, really. Madeleine Mary would have been nice though... Sorry about anyone's discomfort but it's just not practical to run the A/C in the venue for a show with such quiet moments. No apologies for making it seated though, there's no way we would have achieved the rapt silence we had if we'd made it standing. The seats could be a bit comfier, right enough, but you can't have everything. The drummer Alex Nielsen did play on the dates last August. Still a few tickets left for Perth Theatre on Sunday. I think everywhere else is pretty much sold out now.
  8. Here's a bit more info on the show. It will be a collaboration with Harem Scarem performing with Will for most of the performance. It's early days but the repertoire will probably be mainly BPB songs, old and new, and possibly some traditional and Harem Scarem pieces too. Bonnie Prince Billy with Harem Scarem Kentuckys Will Oldham is among the worlds most unique and influential songwriters and the latest chapter in his restless mission to explore new ground brings him together with the superbly creative Scottish-Irish traditional band, Harem Scarem in a tour co-produced by Horsecross, Perth and Aberdeen's The Lemon Tree and funded under the Scottish Arts Councils Tune Up scheme. Bonnie Prince Billy As hinted by the latest (and longest- lasting) of his many aliases, Bonnie Prince Billy, Will Oldham has a long-standing connection with Scotland and its music. Seduced by the sounds of Silly Wizard, Dick Gaughan, The Corries and more during a teenage holiday in Perthshire, his first single, as Palace Brothers, was an almost direct cover of The Loch Tay Boat Song. Since then, his pioneering mixture of ancient atmospheres, arcane language and lyrical fearlessness has embraced many different styles, sounds and collaborations while remaining utterly individual. Recordings with Steve Albini, PJ Harvey, Bjork and Johnny Cash, who recorded his I See A Darkness, among many others give some insight into the strength and depth of Oldhams unrivalled musical vision. "the best songwriter to come out of America in the last ten years. And the most challenging." The Observer "not only one of the most distinctive and fascinating musical talents to emerge in the last ten years but a figure as compelling as any in the whole history of rock'n'roll" Mojo www.bonnieprincebilly.com Harem Scarem Harem Scarem are arguably the most interesting band currently performing on the Scottish folk scene and the ideal partners in crime for Will Oldham. A superb instrumental group, they also boast four fine female vocalists and stand out due to their open-mindedness and consistently inventive arrangements on songs and tunes, many self-penned. Harem Scarem are: Inge Thomson - vocals, accordion, percussion Eilidh Shaw - fiddle, vocals Sarah MacFadyen - fiddle, vocals Nuala Kennedy - flute, vocals Ross Martin - guitars www.haremscarem.co.uk

  10. Just drop in a demo, contact details and any biog info you have for my attention at The Lemon Tree and we'll see what happens. ANDY
  11. We don't know yet. Will let you know when we do.
  12. It's selling very well and may sell out nearer the date but there are still tickets available at the moment.
  13. Send me an email (music@lemontree.org) and drop a demo into The Lemon Tree. Please note that we very rarely have supports to offer for touring acts though.
  14. No she didn't, she was really ill and couldn't make it along.
  15. Simply a case of most touring acts carrying a full supporting bill. It's a frustration for us too. We co-promote most of our local bills with the bands involved and it's worth noting that we're doing more local acts these days than ever before. And on good, weekend nights too.
  16. Mail me some info to music@lemontree.org and we'll see what we can do...
  17. well, you'd all have to bring an awful lot more friends than you did last time...
  18. Tijuana Switchblades will open the show as special guests.
  19. No plans to book them at the moment but you never know.
  20. Heading for a sellout, folks. Buy now or get down very early...
  21. It's actually a coincidence that our current financial difficulties arose simultaneously with the changeover from trust to limited company. That process has been in the pipeline for around two years as part of the Advancement programme we're going through supported by the Scottish Arts Council and just happened to reach fruition as the shit hit the fan. I can undestand people putting 2 and 2 together but the two things are genuinely unconnected.
