  1. Im afraid I don't buy into the Anti-Darkness thing either... I would agree they have their ripping off moments (you won't meet a bigger Queen fan than myself...). But after seeing them live, and hearing a good albums worth of new material... I can only say I was very impressed. I would quite happily buy their next album and go and see them again. I guess its just an opinion thing... What I respect about them though is they know damn well that so many people loathe them... but they just seem to stick two fingers up to them, walk on stage and rock. Fair play to them...

I would definitely go with Busted/McFly/Red Hot Chilli Peppers... The Chilli's don't have that old flame anymore...

  2. No' date=' what's "wrong" here is holding up someones ILLNESS for the purposes of public scrutiny. Now, you might argue the person in question has already done this by publishing it online on livejournal, but at the same time you have to realise that people like that person are in a pretty bad situation and need help, not ridicule. Can you imagine what it must be like to have your life driven by calorie counting and an obsession with your weight and food intake?? When I read things like the snippet above, I only wish I could help these people out, that's all.[/quote']

Ah I put that last post up without thinking about what i actually meant... Don't get me wrong... but you have to say something went wrong somewhere along the line that people in general think that its a) cool to put themselves in that situation b) that people actually are supporting her and rooting for her... not to help herself, but to make it worse, by making her eating disorder (in this case) worse.

I know two people very well, who had a very hard time with eating disorders and you are right, they need people to be around to support them, and they do need people's help, particularly for pointing them in the right direction, and to help them admit that there is a problem.

But it would appear that that isnt the way that many of the readers on Live Journal see it... Which is sad. That was more what I was referring to. Im the same.. I wish there was something I could do...

  3. It was a fantastic gig...

Soulwax - These guys really took me by surprise... i didn't know what to expect, but they had some very good songs indeed... Very very loud... GOod thing about the concert in general was that there was good sound for all the acts, often you see the supports getting treated like crap, but they were given their shot.

The Zutons - Well... ive beenlistening to the CD non stop for a good couple of weeks, and was really looking forward to seeing them. They did not dissapoint.. They were original, entertaining, and had great stage banter... They had the crowd on their feet pretty much after the second song.

Muse - This is the fourth time Ive seen them this year. They keep getting better, it was one classic tune after another, for an hour and 45 mins. Highlights being, Stockholm Syndrome, Citizen Erased and New Born. The first song was a little shaky, Hysteria, I was starting to think that amybe the venue was just that bit too big for them, but after the huge instrumental in the middle of the song, they all came into their own, and just rocked. Maybe they are not everyone's cup of tea, but in my opinion they are just outta this world... one of the only bands that I could easily see 100 times in a year and still be gobsmacked by them.

There you go... Just thought Id write a few words...

  4. People of aberdeen, musicians currently unemployed or looking for a project, answer this post. This guy is a good guitarist and a great riff writer, Im one of the reasons his other band is being put on hold, and I know its frustrating... (Really sorry man) He needs a band that he can jam, write and gig with sooner rather than later...

  5. He was going to intrduce to the hosue a bill which put a durfew on teenagers being in town... That is just one of a host of his ideas. he may be blind, but the man had hard line views.

His integrity was questioned, and he resigned. Im rather glad myself... Although, I am not happy with his replacement...

  6. Press Release for those who are interested... it also appears to answer some of the questions/comments made in the thread.

QUEEN MEETS BAD COMPANY FOR 2005 TOUR:

It seems Queen will tour in 2005, with Roger Taylor and Brian May deciding on Paul Rodgers as the man to fill the mighty shoes of the late, great Freddy Mercury. The 2005 tour looks to take in Europe and the UK at this stage. No word as yet as to whether John Deacon will be involved. The moniker for the tour will be Queen And Paul Rodgers.

The guys are quoted as saying the following: Roger Taylor: "We decided we gonna do a Queen tour. We're touring in Deutschland, in Germany, and Europe next spring. So, first time in many years: a Queen tour - brand-new news and we are very excited to do that. ... We have a fantastic singer ... his name is Paul Rodgers. ... He was one of Freddie's favourite singers - and one of our favourite singers."

Brian May: "We didn't finally push the button yet, but really we made the decision that we want to do this [a tour next year]. Finally we found a singer that we want to work with. It doesn't mean he joins the band. Nobody is replacing Freddie. ... Paul Rodgers ... we thought okay, this is somebody worthy of going out with and making something new. ... We want to make something new, we want to make something which means something now."

  7. That is correct I shall be bringing along my amp. Its a Marshall AVT275... So I don't think we will have any volume troubles or anything like that... And using any pedals is up to you. I knowor know about all the players on that night, and know that you at least look as though you know what your doing... So that's good enough for me!

Jonny, just realised the slight grammar error in my PM!

It will be good to get back on stage with the band... Its been a while... Although this is our fresh start! Good lineup.... Good venue... A bar... Can it get better? (in fact im pretty sure many will say that it could... )

  8. Well that applies to traditional punk... Real punk music. But I don't think its the same for the sort of wishy washy punk culture we have nowadays, where punk music is style as opposed to an ideal or message. Big difference between Sex Pistols and Sum 41... Yet they both say the are punk bands...?

So following that line, I agree about the real punk attitude... but I don't think it would be wrong to have a Mdern Christian punk band...
