  1. No they're not' date=' they're Guardian contributors. It's like calling Ann Widdecombe a Guardian writer because of her agony aunt column. Stop trying to weasel your way out of the fact you attributed the opinion of a group of diverse contributors to the collective view of a newspaper, then asking 'What does the Guardian like?' like some pretentious wankbag. Your point was rubbish, and your oh-so-wellcrafted attempt at having a dig at a national newspaper was far, far worse than any of the opinions on display.[/quote']

calm down boyo, i wasn't trying to have a dig at the guardian. I wasn't trying to make some great point. Just saying i didn't really like the article.

  2. November 30, 2004 - Alright, we finally scooped out some concrete details on Frances the Mute, set to be released march 22:

All the players are the same as have toured for a year now. However, the album will also include a great number of guest performers, including Larry Harlow as previously reported. It was produced by Omar, mixed by Rich Costey, and recorded in Australia, Los Angeles, Puerto Rico and New York.

Storm Thorgerson is doing the artwork again, and the lyrics will be included in the package this time. The songs are both in english and spanish. The Widow will be the single, and it will have a video. A very early version of The Widow was played at the Wiltern shows.

The 77 minutes of music will be seamless all the way through. The tracklist looks like this:

    FRANCES THE MUTE:

    CYGNUS....VISMUND CYGNUS

    A. SARCOPHAGI

    B. UMBILICAL SYLLABLES

    C. FACILIS DESCENUS AVERNI

    D. CON SAFO

    THE WIDOW

    L' VIA L' VIAQUEZ

MIRANDA THAT GHOST JUST ISN'T HOLY ANYMORE

    A. VADE MECUM

    B. POUR ANOTHER ICEPICK

    C. PISACIS (PHRA-MEN-MA)

    D. CON SAFO

    CASSANDRA GEMINI

    A. TARANTISM

    B. PLANT A NAIL IN THE NAVEL STREAM

    C. FAMINEPULSE

    D. MULTIPLE SPOUSE WOUNDS

    E. SARCOPHAGI

I'll let you try and figure that all out.

77 minute album with 5 songs on it. Hmm..

  3. i heard it again yesterday and it gets worse. dire' date=' dire, dire.

Out of interest, can anyone remember the second version that was done with Kylie, Jason Donovan, Bros and Sonia. I saw it on VH1 last night and have only just regained my composure.[/quote']

i know of it but i cant remember what it sounds like. Now it was horrible

  4. that it is either everyone or no-one who is poor.

I never saiud everyone is poor' date=' but the vast majority of people who will be buying this single are those who do not have the disposable income, they will be the ones who are targetted, it is just the laws of marketting.[/quote']

actually the purpose of marketing is to target people WITH disposable income.

anyway i still like the song, apart from bono's line and joss stone's little bit at the end, dizzee rascals rap and jonny greenwood's guitar bit at the end are great

  5. Of course because the whole general public of this country is made up of poor people being exploited by the big bad record company boogie men.

Everyone has the choice whether they buy the single or not, if they are so poor that they can not afford ot spend the money on buying band aid then they shouldn't buy it, if they do, then it's their fault. There is plenty of people who can afford, and a lot that earn more than any of the artists involved.

  6. i heard it this morning for the first time, and i think its quite good, better than the origional. The first one may have had lots of big names but they're all crap. And its stupid to think that dontaing a few pennys to some little charity is abetter way of helping people. Buying this single is the most guaranteed way of the money actually making a difference

  7. yep I'll probably buy it for charidee but I'm disappointed that this is going to wipe away the memory of the origiinal which was a great single of its time. I was disappointed that Midge and Sir Bob chose to be a part of it. I watched the documentary on the making of the original single the other night and it was a great achievement.' date=' this one seems like a bad idea because 20 years ago they used vocalists who could sing, this time they don't have time to correct the wailing of those who can't sing.

    Cheers

    Stuart[/quote']

i dont think it would wipe away the "great" memories of the first, it can't be any worse than band aid 2
