  2. I have many....

"There's nothing nice in my head

The adult world took it all away"

(Faster - The Manic Street Preachers)

"See I love to spend my days just a squirrel-hunting

Go see my cousin Ellie May and get some good lovin'"

(Born to be a Hick - Kid Rock)

    "You're bad to the bone

    And your girlfriend agrees

That falling in love is so hard on the knees"

  3. He's a rock and roll hero, the last time I saw him he looked like a very tall Billy Idol lookalike.

This looks like the best line-up I've seen for a very, very long time:

Rat Daddy : Rock and Roll machines.

Tijuana Switchblades : Long have I waited to see this band

Radio Lucifer : Ditto (except not so long cause they're newer)

KLATB : Easily one of Aberdeen's most uniquely twisted bands

I will move Heaven and or Earth to go to this show (may not be possible).

  4. A former Misfit too!

Anyway' date=' the way I've always understood punk is probably best described as a bizarre form of "late twentith century folk music", although by it's nature, not necessarily dated. It was about creating something from scratch, it, to me, is a mode and not a genre, although many people believe it is. Similar mindsets can be found in No Wave and even Garage, from how I understand it. The music might not be three-chord rock'n roll, but the DIY ethic is there.

    [/quote']

I do agree with that on some level. Punk is about the attitude, but I don't think that any music with a DIY ethic can be classed as punk. At then end of the day,the whole "What is Punk" argument is simple. It's just been over complicated. Punk is the Sex Pistols,The Clash,The New York Dolls,The Stooges etc, it's tight jeans, safety pins, Vivienne and Maclolm's "SEX" shop and heavy mascara. And back in the day it was about Liberal-minded attitudes to politics, leftist views and anti-right wing,anti-royalty protest.

The Ramones and The Misifts were great bands (the Ramones are one of my all-time favourites), but because they have lended support to this campaign, it doesn't boost it's punk credentials.

It's a complete contradiction of what Punk meant and what it still is, it's like a Steak Appreciation Society for Vegetarians. Punk is a very politcally rooted genre, as strange as it is, certain musical genres can have incredible political influence. In the same way we'd associate Cliff Richard with people with rather safe and down-the-middle political views, we associate punk with Leftist politics, A Conservative Punk movement is not only completely invalid and impossible, it's clearly a group of Conservative minded politicians trying to influence a HUGE group of near-voting-age, potential Conservative supporters.

They've clearly picked up on the large amounts of young Punk fans being influenced by politi-punk bands and guys like Michael Moore and decided to make an attempt at bringing in the alienated youth by getting big names in the Punk community who happen to have political views similar to theirs and using it as a ploy to rear in a few more votes. It's completely degrading to the good name of Punk.

  5. It begs the question, if it's a "Conservative" punk site, what on Earth makes it punk?

Surely making it Conservative in political ideals ( a primarily right-winged political notion), what associates it with the very-left wing orientated world of punk music?

Does one of it's supporters have spikey hair and a wee tattoo?

  6. The Ramone's - It's Alive!

The Sex Pistols - Never Mind the Bollocks

The Cramps - Big Beat from Badsville (Probably more of a Psychobilly album, but it's still more Punk that anything made in the last few years anyway)

Rancid - And Out Come the Wolves.....

NOFX - White Trash, Two Heebs and a Bean

Rocket From the Crypt - Scream Dracula, Scream!

    Green Day - Insomniac

  7. Jesus' date=' me and my girlfriend better stop doing this shit for fun. In fact, I'll just go and burn any contraceptives I can find and make sure she see's any baby she conceives right through until the end of it's term so it can be brought into a loveless life.

    While I'm here:

    [url']http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/1052/1052_01.asp

Exactly, why is reproduction the only reason for sex?

And if every single couple had children, we'd end up with maximum child number legislations as in China at the moment, the whole thing would be chaos.

  8. Even if the notion that Homosexuality is unnatural is in some "scientific" way correct, why does it matter? In a society that changes and develops so rapidly, why does everything have to be perfectly natural? In ancient Greece, Homosexuality was the norm, Men would have sex with woman to reproduce and have sex with other men purely for pleasure.

I think Homosexuality is perfectly natural and acceptable, why shouldn't it be?

What I find completely unacceptable is fashionable Sexuality and excessive over promotion of one's sexuality. I know a good few gay and Bisexual people through social circle's, unfortunately for the gay community, for every 5 or so completely nice, normal behaving friendly gay guy's/girls, there's one complete clown, who's only intent in life is to promote the fact that they are so sexually liberated and are generally very loud and play up to the role of the gay guy. They also seem to think it's acceptable to kiss and grope my girlfriend because "they're gay and it's just a bit of fun", when queried if it would be just a bit of fun if I kissed their boyfriend, you get some nonsense from them about being Homophobic. It is this new trend of fake sexual liberation and pseudo-sexuality that is completely undermining the fight that genuine Gay/Bi people have had to be accepted in society. This new fashionable Bisexuality thing is incredibly offensive to genuine Bisexual people who do actually exist. I don't believe that everyone is Bisexual, Bisexuality is a perfectly valid (albiet confusing) sexuality, It is people equally attracted physically and emotionally to members of both sexes, it is however tough for people to admit their Bisexuality without being labelled as "trying to be fashionable" which is patronising and degrading to what they have to live with. As for people who completely undermine that struggle of Bisexual people by claiming to be Bisexual after kissing or having sex with a member of the same sex once or twice, they can fuck right off.

As for the whole Gay Pride thing, I don't particularly agree with it. I think Sexuality, as tough and important as it can be, is on the whole a completely trivial subject which does not merit this carnival atmosphere to celebrate it. I agree with the aspect of bringing together people who have had to struggle in the past and want to feel a sense of community, but I think it does more to promote segregation between the straight and gay community than unify it.

  9. yeh your right the 'males with feminine apprerance' is irrelevant bullshit' date=' forget that.

But do you really think homosexuality is totally fine? does mother nature make us straight for a reason, no? you must see that SOMETHING HAS GONE WRONG for someone to be gay, if not - theyre faking it!

Im not a scientist, but there has to be some sort of problem in the genes. Think about people born looking female yet with male genitalia. Not a defect? perfectly fine? a homosexual person is surely someone born with the physical appearance of man, yet with the brain of a woman - perfectly normal? nothing gone wrong?[/quote']

A person with the brain of a woman and the body of a man is transgendered not homosexual.

A homosexual man can be perfectly "normal" and like football and beer etc, he just happens to be attracted to other men. Just because they're gay it doesn't mean that they are defected or tarnished!

  10. I totally agree with that. Chris and I went to see The Adventures of Prisilla' date=' Queen of the Desert on Friday and because it was part of pride week, they had a drag queen on to 'entertain' folks before the movie. The drag queen was totally unnecessary because she was under-rehearsed, unprepared and generally rubbish. The whole affair was a little let down by certain people in the audience who were, to be fair, in the minority, camping it up, speaking along with the film and singing along to camp disco classics in the soundtrack, because this is the week to be proud. Mostly they were obnoxious little fag hags who were only there because it's cool to be 'accepting' and gay friends are like fashion accessories to them.[/quote']

Prisilla is a fucking great film!

The whole Gay Pride thing confuses me aswell, why should Gay people may any more or less proud than straight people, it's only sexuality!

  11. I think it is becoming cool to be gay. Look at emowear / general male fashion - pretty feminine huh? its as though men are losing the desire to be masculine and women are losing the attraction to masculinity.

Homosexuality is sad' date=' its like someone born with 3 eyes, a defect. Its become socially acceptable because theres so many, and im not homophobic, but it is sad - as in unhappy sad not, 'check u bunch of saddos.'[/quote']

How can you call Homosexuality a defect?

And males with a feminine appearance has nothing do to with sexuality. I quite enjoy people's surprise at finding out I'm completely straight as it makes them question things instead of walking around excepting masculinity as straight males and feminity as straight woman, everybody's so comfortable in a world of black and white, straight and gay, I feel it's important not to be a part of that without becoming all "Oh I'm Gay and I look like a girl and I'm soooooo non-conformist and rebellious and I don't give a fuck".

  12. I think that's a pretty fair point but worded wrongly.

I don't think people are "turning" Homosexual or Bisexual as that's not possible, I do think that this recent increase in public Homosexuality/Bisexuality has led to people who are actually gay/bi being far more open about it and other people who are competely straight, pretending to be gay. I personally find that hugely insensitive, and if I were gay, I'd find it incredibly offensive.

I think sexuality is pretty grey, not straight down the middle black and white. I don't think anyone should be ashamed or proud of their sexuality, just the shame as no-one should be proud (or ashamed) of gender. I find people who constantly harp on about being opressed because of sexuality or gender, just as infuriatingly boring as people who opress because of gender or sexuality.

I can't be bothered with Feminists,Gay Right's Activists or Homophobic or Sexist people, all these groups do is further the divide between Gay/Straight/Bisexual/Transgender/Men/Woman, something as trivial as sexuality and gender is not worth all this hassle, opression or protesting.

I think it's absolutely ridiculous that Bisexuality has become fashionable. This "we're totally fucking sexually liberated and carefree" attitude by this new-wave of teenage Fauxmosexuals and Lipstick Lesbians is stomach-churning, and a complete fucking insult too real Bisexual people. I think Madonna and Britney Spears should spend a week as Sandy Tokvig's love slaves for their "kiss" at the MTV thing.

Everyone who thinks Gender or Sexuality are important for better or worse, bore me.

  13. If the heckling is humorous and not just blankly offensive or stupid then it can be fun.

My favourite personal heckling experience was shouting "Play Jailhouse Rock" at a rather loud Emo/Post-Hardcore band. Unfortunately the band did not respond and the heckler was left with no Elvis at all.

    Agreed.

I still can't listen to Generation Terrorists/Gold Against the Soul/The Holy Bible without being at a complete loss as to how someone can write lyrics that clever and that thought provoking. Superb vocabulary, unbelivably smart and still bleak as a blackout. Genius.

    Some of my other favourites are ;

Zach De La Rocha (The angriest lyrics this side of Arlo Guthrie)

    Bob Dylan (self-explanatory)

Lux Interior - The Cramps (Sleazy PVC B-Movies in lyrical form)

Steven Tyler (If you ignore the comedy stuff like Dude Looks Like a Lady and Love in an Elevator, he can write some really poetic stuff)
