  1. This is certainly a new one on me' date=' i wonder what Lounge-Core sounds like? Would it be like soothing jazz with impassioned screams sailing over the music, with suited kids with dyed black hair/skinheads performing with manic grace? Just wondering really...[/quote']

It's really just lounge music with core stuck on the end as a joke, unfortunately.

In muso terms, I think the word core just refers to what is the core of the music, not something mixed with Hardcore. Infact I seem to remember reading that the word Easycore was recently put in the dictionary, meaning Easy Listening.

A mix of Hardcore and Lounge would be superb though.

  2. The Tijuana Switchblades - Ball and Chain by Social Distortion

King Liar and the brutes - Cramp Stomp by the Cramps

Karloff - A very fast horror-punk rendition of Heartbreak Hotel by Elvis Presley

Turning 13 - Today by the Smashing Pumpkins

Spike Piledriver - A high speed noise core rendition of and James Brown song

  3. I really hope it's Lounge-Core, then I'm gonna be hip.

Realistically it'll probably that kind of arty, jangley guitars Indie-Rock think a la Franz Ferdinand. Lot's of shirts buttoned right up, skinny ties and leather shoes.

  4. No' date=' they exist, I am not going to start naming names though, because it just leads to the usual nonsense. In retrospect, should have just said nothing.

The basic premise comes when people are constantly being introduced by 'username' or alternatively when they ask you who you are they say 'no, I meant on the boards'.

    [/quote']

I'm sure theres a lot of people who are just interested in meeting people that they're in reasonably regular contact with in some form or another. It's also a good way for some people who may feel otherwise awkward in social situations to initiate conversation.

Personally, I've met very few people on the boards and most of the people I know, I knew already from gigs and other such social situations, but to find out that someone I'm talking too is someone I may have conversed with on here interests me.

I do find it ridiculous that people are introduced by their username etc because it does kind of remove the person from their internet persona, but if it comes up in conversation i don't see anything wrong with that.

Just because I tend to attend very few gigs and I don't personally meet many people from the boards, doesn't mean there's not a lot of people who don't have very wide social groups or a lot of friends who have met people from here who have become very close friends, if I'm at a gig (which is reasonably rare), I like meeting new people and having conversations. Although the idea of "the scene" repulses me, I don't think there's anything wrong with being sociable and I don't think that everyone who converses with people from the boards are looking for "scene points".

  5. Uh? Were we formally introduced? My recollections are somewhat hazy' date=' I'm afraid, sorry. And I can't believe it was a pleasure for you, or anyone else tbh...[/quote']

I was informed afterwards it was you, I was the younger chap of the group, wearing a suit, black hair, we did shake hands at one point, you did seem to have a foaming ale or two in you though.

  6. I managed to miss Radio Lucifer by mere minutes which was deeply irritating.

Rat Daddy were storming as always, Rock and Roll as it's supposed to be played (with lots of leather and pelvic thrusting), one of the most friendly bands I've had the priveledge of meeting aswell, lovely gents.

King Liar and the Brutes were, as alway, a true experience.

It was a lovely night all and all, I also had the pleasure of meeting Mr Frosty Jack and driving to Mel's flat wedged between 2 sweaty Rat Daddy members eating various kebab shop wares.

  7. I was really surprised when I heard Deathcab for Cutie, I was excpecting a very screamy post-hardcore/emo band, but they're actually a very nice little Indie-Pop kind of band that make relaxing catchy little numbers (especially Blacking out the Friction). They're not a band I'd go out of my way to see, but a band I would like to see nontheless. It does seem a little odd their supporting Blink 182 though, they seem to be a reasonable established Independent kind of band, not a major label support act.

  8. Has anyone else experienced the might of AOL Broadband Radio stations. There's a huge list of radios stations with various stations for each musical genre, e.g Hair Metal, Adult Rock, 70's Disco etc and they're fantastic listening, beats the shit out of Virgin Radio's non-stop Dandy Warhols extravaganza's.

I'm currently listening to the "Lounge" station, classic obscure Exotica soundscapes from the Tiki Rooms of yesteryear. I strongly advise all AOL users to have a browse, something for all tastes.....even Goths.

  9. The most requested piece from the US National Archives (of photographs and documents), more requested than the Bill of Rights or even the Constitution of the United States, is the photograph of Elvis Presley shaking hands with then-President Richard Nixon at the White House.

  10. The Wildhearts - There's Only One Hell

They're one of those bands I've always felt I should like due to their genre and sound etc, but never really taken the time to get into. Found this tune on a compilation though and it's ace, the intro totally conures up images of inspirational 80's rock used as the soundtrack to 80's fantasy kids films a la Neverending Story and Flight of the Navigator.
