  1. so far then, the top 13 suggestions are:

    alyssa's wish - opal

deadloss superstar - draw the line

psycho a go go - marty mcfly

hookers green - love ballad for a robot

deadloss superstar - wall of skin

the x-certs - into the silence

    masamune - silvertipped

    my decaying leg - zombies

    eric euan - i paphoo

    electric tibet - rosebud

black atom - the last day

    ian simpson - snowfall

battery living - this is you

ok then. how do we make that line up of songs better?

who's missing and who doesn't deserve to be there?

i am of course trying to start a fight. please take the bait.

for my part, i've only seen battery living once, and find it had to believe they've released the best song by a local band this year.

i'd certainly have eric euan, electric tibet, deadloss and masamune in there. and MDL, that song is fantastic. but... did it come out this year?

p.s. we have four FUDGE JUDGES now. eight more to pick...

on a cd in a shop would cut down the list dramatically. (hopes!)

yeah, we're talking 'appeared on a cd', preferably a self-released ep or demo, but anything on a compilation would qualify. not some badly recorded tat which the bands taped and gave to their mates.

so i'm thinking x-certs, MDL, black atom, deadloss, maple and all the others who've released something this year...

  3. Fudge's SONG OF THE YEAR

    Okay, here's how it happens...

You lot, the Aberdeen-Music.com public, suggest the songs. The best local band songs you've heard that HAVE BEEN RELEASED THIS YEAR. Not the best demos, or EPs, but the best individual SONGS.

We'll pick ten songs from your suggestions, and these will comprise the shortlist.

Then we form a jury of TWELVE RIGHTEOUS MEN to debate the top ten. We do this by means of a poll or several. We give you a list of promoters, kids from the scene, band members, media people, blah blah, you get the picture... and you vote for the people you think would represent you best on the panel of judges. The FUDGE JUDGES. Oh yes.

Anyway, that motley crew have to pick the best song by a north-east band released in the year 2003.

It's a laugh, but it's serious, RIGHT? No moaning or bitching.

A band can have a maximum of two songs in the top ten.

    Let the 'debate' commence...

  4. mexiboy - slots are still free. all goooood.

ok, the state of play looks like this so far:

GOLDBLUM from dundee are playing. sadly that means we have no room for another outtatowner. keep it up though mexiboy, i heard from someone i trust (can't mind who though) that you guys are really good.

CONTRA have been asked but haven't confirmed yet.

and hopefully NERO can play too, but i have to chase that one up. i think dave may have been a little drunk when i stood watching hot hot heat with him at reading. lambo seemed alright though :)

    need more acts though...
