  1. Space and bandwidth prohibits me listing all the people I know making a good living out of music.

But if it's older ones you want.........

Manson Grant (and his Dynamos)......about 70 ish now. Still going.

    Michael Darren(singer/guitarist)......50' date=' 30 years a pro.

Eileen G (country singer)...52, still there.

Stu Richardson (from BedHead)...45, 30 years at it and gigging more than ever.

Mike Silver (singer/songwriter) 55, god knows how long.

Eric Bogle (singer/songwriter) 70 odd.. Wrote Green Fields of France ect.

Of course none of these are punk or metal so you won't have heard of them or give a fuck, but they do have careers and they have lasted the course. And there are many more.[/quote']

hang on, you KNOW Eric Bogle? as in, personally?

the guy is a total hero of mine! :D

  2. Definitely' date=' Maybe, their best since Morning Glory (see what I did there?).

Apparently theres a hidden track entitled "Can you see it now?" but I haven't had found it[/quote']

"i can see it now" - its on the japaneese edition. little nifty instrumental, very good. i downloaded it, cant find it again though sorry

  3. they certainly were a shrewd move to folks into his music' date=' do you think we'd be discussing johnny cash if he DIDN'T do those LP's ?

    [/quote']

Well, its not as if Johnny Cash wasnt a household name before that. But yeah, good on anyone who gets into Cash, which should open up doors for them to listen to other acts from similar scenes.

  4. Am I the only one who gets monumentally pissed off at the way his career seems to be defined these days by a handful of covers albums he made in his twilight years' date=' and nobody seems to care much about all his OWN stuff?

Seems a bit shit to me.[/quote']

    NO, no you're not.

The covers of those songs he did towards the end of his career are no where near his best stuff...Mind you, I dont think Cash is all that great anyway, but he definatley has far better songs than limp covers of Hurt and One etc.

  5. I listened to it several times on his website' date=' then just had to go out and buy it! It's great, a welcome return to form here after Rock and roll and Love is Hell. I think he's sounding more and more like Neil Young, but that's not a criticism. Also there is definitely a Grateful Dead influence on some tracks too.[/quote']

Love is Hell is great. Possibly my favourite album(s) by him. Give it another go!

    Rock and Roll though

  6. Ach' date=' if Barry Nic wants to hook up with "those two" again we should show him the door now. Hope for your sake he doesn't do a Richie Byrne. Byrne was a pretty solid defender believe it or not, had a good season and played well in the cup final but as soon as he put on a Dons top he seemed to become mince.

    [/quote']

Byrne has been solid away from home by all accounts (ive never seen him away from Pittodrie) but SHITE at home.

Although I think he will do a Michael Hart, and once he gets a good pre-season under his belt, will be a decent enough player.

Oh, and Barry Nic WILL be a Dons player next season
